“Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim leader Sengezo Tshabangu stands to benefit financially after the government disbursed over ZWL 22 million to the opposition party as part of the political parties finance fund,” Bulawayo 24 reported.
“The distribution, outlined in the Government Gazette, allocated ZWL 22,116,500 (US$1.6m at official exchange rate) to the CCC out of a total of ZWL 70 million for parties that participated in the August 2023 harmonized elections.”
This is only a fraction of the gravy train good-life package. There is the US$60 000 car loan, the generous salary and allowances, in 2022 there surprise US$40 000 house loan (no doubt there will be one in the pipeline), etc., etc. No wonder CCC leaders were falling over themselves to take up their gravy train seats even after SADC and AU elections observers had dismissed the 2023 elections as flawed and illegal.
Of course, Fadzayi Mahere, David Coltart, etc. all knew the elections were flawed and, worse still, that their participating would give Zanu PF legitimacy. They had their eyes on the gravy train loot and did not give a damn about anything else.

Zanu PF members have had some say in the governance of Zimbabwe and the same cannot be said of ordinary Zimbabweans. Zanu PF rigged the 2023 elections as both SADC and AU rightly observed; nothing new as the party has blatantly rigged all the elections in the past. This Zanu PF government is illegitimate and, unless we do something to stop the Chamisa Chete Chete brigade participating in their millions again, will rig 2028 to extend its rule.

Corruption is a serious disease and in Zimbabwe it has gone untreated for so long it has spread and evolved to the point it is a deadly killer. Why? Because all the normal societal checks and balance such as the police, the judiciary, etc. which should stamp out corruption have all but disappeared.

Zimbabwe has never had a verified voters’ roll and so many people have registered to vote but have never appeared on the voters’ roll. Some were on the voters’ roll once upon a time but have had the names moved from one constituency to another or deleted altogether; etc., etc. These are all deliberate moves and part and parcel of Zanu PF rigging the elections and hence the reason why ZEC has resisted demands for verified voters’ roll.
By participating in such a flawed electoral process you give it legitimacy - that is the argument! Chamisa conned millions of his supporters to participate in last year’s election on the back of an idiotic lie that he had plugged ALL the vote rigging loop holes. Although SADC and AU denounced the 2023 elections as flawed and illegal they could not deny Zanu PF legitimacy because 2 million Chamisa supporters participated. Man is supposed to be a creature of reason and therefore it is most disconcerting when 2 million behave like a wildebeest herd!

Zimbabwe is a failed state and the root cause of that is the failure to hold free, fair and credible elections. Zanu PF has rigged elections for the last 44 years but would not have done it the last 24 years if MDC/CCC leaders had implemented the democratic reforms and/or stopped participating in flawed elections to give the regime legitimacy.

The 500 billion per cent hyper inflation of 2000 to 2008 wiped out many people’s life savings, for example, and you keep wittering about people must start their own businesses, farming, etc. Start with what, they no money and no collateral security?
The millions of rural people would be economically better off than they are today if they were allowed to have title deeds to even one acre of land on which the hut is build. Just one acre! In Zimbabwe we cannot talk of poverty without talking of the elephant in the room - the Zanu PF regime that is denying millions of ordinary Zimbabweans the right to own the land on which their hut is build for selfish political reasons. The worst thing about the land system in Rhodesia is that it allowed whites to own property including land and denied the blacks the same right. Zimbabwe’s intelligentsia have allowed Zanu PF thugs to do as they damn well pleased because they thought they too will become part and parcel of the privileged ruling elite. Zimbabwe is a failed state and we are stuck. The need for a way out of this political and economic mess is self-evident. The irony is SADC offered us a way out during the 2008 to 2013 GNU and we not only wasted the opportunity but have very rarely ever accepted that we shot ourselves in the foot.

The people of Chiadzwa and Marange were indeed sit-in of diamonds and as soon as the authorities realised this they were all booted off the land and the mining concessions were given to the ruling elite and their foreign partners. More than 532,000 students risk missing out on their final examinations this year after the government's Basic Education Assistance Module (BEAM) debt to the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has ballooned to $6,4 million.
The debt accrued is in respect of 2023 and 2024, Public Service Labour and Social Welfare Minister July Moyo told parliamentarians on Thursday.
BEAM is a scheme that was introduced by government to assist some less privileged primary and secondary school students with their fees.
But Treasury has struggled to settle its obligations with the national examinations body, falling behalf by a massive $6,4 million in terms of arrears.
This government has all but failed to revive the Zimbabwe economy and one of the ways the regime has tried to curb inflation is by starving some public sectors of funds, notably education and health care. The regime keeps wittering about growing the country’s economy to attaining the upper middle income status by 2030; it is all a mirage. How can the economy grow when key sectors such as health and education have all but collapsed!
Zimbabweans do not need to wait for 2030 to know vision 2030 is a mirage; there is overwhelming evidence of that already. The question then is: what can we do now?
Answer: we must stop Zanu PF rigging 2028 to perpetuate the dictatorship. We have missed many golden opportunities to implement the democratic reforms to stop the rigging and it is unlikely we can do so now.
We must do the next best thing; make sure Zanu PF does not get away with the rigged elections. Zanu PF got away with rigged elections last year because the Chamisa Chete Chete brigade participated in the flawed elections in their millions giving the process credibility. They were conned into participating believing Chamisa’s idiotic lie that he had plugged all the vote rigging loop holes.
We must stop at least some of the brigade being conned into participating again in 2028. Easier said than done. How does one stop a stampeding wildebeest herd!

SADC could have intervened last year after SADC and AU election observers produced a damning report. They could have denied Zanu PF political legitimacy but did not because not only did the opposition participate but Chamisa conned nearly 2 millions of his supporters to participate.
We should concentrate on stopping Chamisa Chete Chete brigade participating in flawed 2028 elections in their millions this will show we are finally serious in our demands for democratic reforms and free and fair elections. SADC will help us if we help ourselves!
