Povo is dying to end corruption and tyranny and Mnangagwa vows that is the 'correct line' - we are fcuked!

“I feel humbled that I have been accorded this honour to serve our beloved country Zimbabwe in the capacity of Vice President,” said Mnangagwa. “I have assured the President and I would want to assure the party and its leadership that I will remain loyal and committed to uphold the correct line of the revolution which we have been in for the past 52 years.”

This does not come as a surprise to anyone. Here is the man who was at the very heart of the most of the tragic events of this corrupt and tyrannical dictatorship. Mnangagwa has been a senior member of the Joint Operations Command (JOC), the Junta comprising senior members of the security sector a select few politicians headed by Mugabe and Mnangagwa themselves, that has been ruling the nation for decades now. The Junta is elected by no one and so is accountable to no one.

Tendai Biti, when he has Minister of Finance in the GNU, discovered to his horror that the Junta had its own source of funds, the looted diamond revenue he expected to receive but never did.

In 2004 Mnangagwa was set to win the party membership’s nomination to be VP but was cheated by Mugabe changing the party rules calling for female candidate (a rule the tyrant has conveniently disregard this time). Mnangagwa was popular with the party members then but they have since seen what a devilishly devious man he is, especially from growing notoriety in the blood chilling cloak-and-dagger JOC activities. By the 2014 Zanu PF elective congress the party members’ loyalty had decisively shifted away from Mnangagwa to Mujuru for VP.

Just as JOC masterminded and ruthlessly executed the vote rigging of the national election in July 2013 to get Mugabe and Zanu PF back into power then Junta has done the same to muscle Mujuru out of VP position.

Of course the Zanu PF membership was right to gravitate away from Mnangagwa because a party and leader who are so dismissive of their right to a meaningful say to who should lead them is a nightmare. Yes Zanu PF has become a party of thugs but even a thug like Jabulani Sibanda proud of his reputation as a thug resents being bully!

After 34 years of corrupt and murderous and tyrannical oppression in which ordinary Zimbabweans, the masses, povo, have systematically denied the basic human freedoms, rights including the right to a meaning say in the governance of the country and the right to life itself. The country’s economy is in ruins and 16% or 2 million Zimbabweans already live in abject poverty and hopeless despair.

Povo, from Kariba to Beit Bridge, from Mutare in the East to Plumtree in the West are desperate for real change and an end to the corruption and brutal political repression. Povo will therefore receive Mnangagwa’s comments with anger and tearful despair; if the corruption and murderous tyranny is indeed the “correct line” and the man to take-over from Mugabe has vowed to “remain loyal and committed” to this line and he has learnt all there is to know in the art of brutal repression and vote rigging then, comrades go ahead and cry.

Tomorrow, as Mnangagwa is sworn in, Zimbabweans everywhere must declare it a day on mourning because, like it or not, we are in deep, deep trouble with Ngwena on the throne. This is the nightmare scenario, we are truly – pardon my French for I am truly lost for words - fcuked!

This regime is going nowhere because the one thing that is no longer an option in business as usual. The serious economic meltdown demands change, regime change, and regime change it is going to have.

@ Muzezuru

None of these ministries will have any money to do anything even if you have appointed the most compe-tent individuals; Zimbabwe is broke. In 2012-2013 the ministry of Higher education got less than 20% of its budget allocation if take away the wages. Zimbabwe is spending "over 90%" of its expenditure on wages according to Chinamasa.

We actually do not need all these ministers!

Mnangagwa was sworn in as VP at State House today Friday 12 December 2014! The day will go down in Zimbabwe’s history as the first day in the nation’s fight with VP Mnangagwa for democratic change. God only knows how long this fight is going to take and how bloody it is going to get the prospects are not looking good, that much is clear!

We should have implemented the democratic reforms during the GNU days! The crocodile has just got his leg into State House; he is not going to listen to an calls for democratic reforms. It is going to be a real tough fight to flash him out!

The need to end the corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship could not be more pressing. But after all the dirty tricks and decades of waiting Mnangagwa will be so desperate to be President he will stop at absolutely nothing to fulfil his life time dream. He could not believe his lucky that MDC did not implement even one reform in five years; he would not be VP today if they had.

If only those MDC idiots had not been so corrupt and incompetent we would not be facing this uphill battle! If only!

@ Patrick

Patrick, it is really refreshing to hear from an open minded Zanu PF support, open minded enough to openly admit the party plunders.

I agree with you, after the Gukurahundi murders Zanu PF leaders lost their “innocence and all inhibitions” what I fail to understand is why people like you who believed in freedom, liberty and human dignity said nothing and allow the thugs to takeover and drive the nation to destruction?

Mnangagwa is not “smart” as you said; Mugabe would not have twisted him and other leaders round his little finger all these year and out of power if he was smart. He is ruthless, yes but that is not the same thing. He is also ruthless, power hungry and greed; he does not care about freedom, justice and the suffering or even death of others. He is no different from Mugabe; indeed one can even say they are two peas out of the same pod.

President Mnangagwa will never concede to any democratic reforms. To him it will be “luta con-tinua” (struggle continues) by which he really means “opressao continua” or should I say “tapo jixu” since he is a Chinese imposition (oppression continues). This is why it will be a nightmare to have Mnangagwa as president.

CIVIL servants and parastatals bosses close to senior Zanu PF officials who are casualties of the party’s factional fights fear a backlash which could see them removed from their positions after the ongoing Zanu PF congress whose backdrop witnessed Vice-President Joice Mujuru and her allies being ruthlessly purged and crushed.
To say that the civil service, security sector, parastatals and many, many other sectors of the Zimbabwe society had not been politicised is to deny day is day. All those working in these bod-ies and institutions got their jobs because of their political connections and not what they know. And so if your political mentor has been purged it is almost certain that you too are next for the chop, especially these days when of serious economic meltdown when there so, so many chas-ing very few jobs.
The civil service and all these institutions are over manned and so there are going to be deep cuts, this is “load shedding” Mugabe’s style. Needless to say that those without their man or woman at the high-table are almost certain to get the sack.
The irony is all those now worried about their jobs today have all these years seen nothing wrong with the politicisation of every facet of Zimbabwe society! Many of them have played a very active role in creating and perpetuating this corrupt and wasteful political system all these decades. It is good that they should have a chance to taste a bucketful of their medicine!

Mugabe is set to sack more people in the coming days and weeks.

The economic meltdown has resulted in significant drop of income in every sector of the economy; it is no secret that government is failing to pay the wages of the civil servants, for example. So it goes without saying that there was a crying need to reduce the wage bill and thus reduce staff.

Most appointments in the civil service, Army, ZESA, etc. are political appointments and so all those who have lost their mentors at the Zanu PF high table must know they will have no one to fight their corner.

All these men and women have played their party in keeping this Zanu PF dictatorship in power all these last 34 years. They have opposed democratic reform and it is only know that they wish they are supported.

Well first things fast; it is right that they are losing their jobs so they can have a bucketful of the dictator-ship they have dished out to the rest of us so carelessly these years. When they have suffered and softened, they will be more receptive to calls for democratic change!

@ Peta

It is a lie that Mnangagwa is Mugabe's "most trusted deputy"; Mugabe is a calculating tyrant and he saw in Mnangagwa a ruthless and ambitious person who would do all his dirty work. Of course it was in Mugabe’s interest to make Mnangagwa believe he is the tyrant’s “most trusted deputy” and heir apparent. When the latter had maneuvered himself into a position to be appointed VP in 2004, Mugabe deliberately changed the rules; at the behest of his wife Grace, according to her recent claim; to elbow him out of the way.

This time Mugabe has once again asked Mnangagwa to do the dirty work to elbow Mai Mujuru out be-cause if she had become VP, as she was set to do, she would have well forced him to hand over the presidency sooner than he wanted. With Mujuru out of the way, Mnangagwa was the only one with any political muscle left in the party; add on the fact that having cheated him one over the VP appointment; Mugabe did not dare do anything else but appoint Mnangagwa VP. If it is a matter of trust, then Mugabe trusted Mnangagwa to hit back hard if Mugabe had dared cheat him again!

@ greenbomber

Well that is great!

A point of correction, Mugabe did not hold a gun to Tsvangirai get him to sign the GPA but the keys to a ministerial Benz and a promise of luxuries such as those he enjoyed on the Legend of the Sea. When Mugabe gave Tsvangirai the keys to the Highlands mansion, the MDC leader and his friends were tripping over each other to please the tyrant and sign his praise!

Ousted Zanu-PF Manicaland provincial chairman Ambassador John Shumba Mvundura said he will remain a loyal member of the ruling party and accepts the decision taken against him.

People like Mvundura have remained loyal to Mugabe and Zanu PF even when corruption destroyed the nation's economy forcing millions into a life of abject poverty and despair, you have remained loyal even when the regime rigged elections and murdered thousands for selfish political gain. You sold your heart and soul to the devil then, now that the devil is kicking you in the teeth the people are in fact pleased that you are having a bucketful of the same injustice you so readily dish out to us. We are not going to lose sleep over something as trivial and irrelevant as whether or not a sacked Zanu PF official remains loyal to the tyrant or not.

You are only saying so to save yourself further kicking. You are naïve if you think that Mugabe will fish you out of the economic hardship you now face because the economic meltdown means he has no cushy jobs to give away – not any more. The only way out for the nation is for Zanu PF to step down and allow all the democratic reforms to be implemented.

Instead of, for the first time in your life siding with the common people you are once again seeking to sell them out for selfish reason. Even after the tyrant has just kicked you in the teeth you still side with him.

Well, go ahead; just remember that you are now living is S***t Alley with us the ordinary people and not in Easy Street with the tyrant and his cronies. You are no longer one of the ruling elite and we really do not like sell-out much less those who will betray us once again just to earn favours with the tyrant.
