Tsvangirai's "exciting political moment" coalition is the blind leading the blind!

“MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai on Saturday tagged Joyce Mujuru and PDZ party leader Barbara Nyagomo into his MDC party,” reported Zimeye

“ZimEye.com can reveal members of the various political formations were pulled into the MDC State of The Nation Address special function on Saturday”

Tsvangirai gave the nation details of the consequences of the Zanu PF’s rigged elections in his address but said nothing about how the rigged July 2013 elections were themselves a consequence of MDC’s failure implement the democratic reforms agreed in the GPA.

Tsvangirai and his fellow MDC leaders had five years to implement the reforms but failed to get even one reform implemented. SADC and others had warned MDC on the need to implement the reforms to ensure future elections were free, fair and credible but MDC ignored the warning.

All along Tsvangirai has publicly denied that SADC heads warned MDC on the reforms. But three months ago his spokesman, Luke Tamborenyoka, has publicly admitted to MDC being warned on the reforms and the “folly” of ignoring the warning. MDC made the public admission just before the scheduled SADC meeting in Harare because the party wanted to meet SADC heads and present them with another one of MDC’s endless petitions. SADC heads ignore MDC.

Ever since the rigged July 2013 when SADC heads dismissed Tsvangirai and his fellow MDC leaders as corrupt, incompetent and sell-outs they have pointedly ignore MDC. SADC vomited you MDC lot out then, so did the Western donors and many others too; they will never gone back to eat vomit.

Yes MDC still has some followers amongst the Zimbabwe electorate but these are who have never understood what the reforms were throughout the GNU years and still do not to this day! These are the naïve and gullible who have been brainwashed by the decades of Zanu PF propaganda into simpleton who can only follow like sheep and are incapable of thinking for themselves or see reason! It took two decades for them to finally accept that Mugabe is a corrupt and murderous tyrant it will take another two decades for them to see Tsvangirai for the corrupt and incompetent man he is.

To be fair to the MDC supporters, they are not the only ones who have no idea what the democratic reforms are about. Tsvangirai and his MDC teams have no clue what these reforms are. Since the rigged July 2013 elections MDC-T has called for the boycott of all future elections until their demands of eight electoral reforms are implemented.

“In the previous elections, the people of Zimbabwe have won the election but lost the results and we pledge in our diversity to continue to insist on the implementation of both the Constitution and the reforms agreed under the auspices of SADC and the African Union,” said Tsvangirai is his Saturday address.

Tsvangirai has never mentioned and of the GPA reforms until now. If he really understood anything about the GPA reforms then he would know that Zanu PF will never ever implement these reforms now that the GPA has expired just because Tsvangirai has finally woken up to their importance!

“I see the true grand coalition (MDC-T being joined by Mai Mujuru’s People First and Nyagomo’s PDZ) not as the unity of individuals or leaders of political parties, but as a unity of Zimbabweans who possess shared values and convergence on the patriotic goal to take our country forward,” said Tsvangirai.

“Today, I promise Zimbabweans that we are on the brink of an exciting political moment and they will be see us as political leaders converging on those issues that matter most to us all Zimbabweans.”

This is nothing but a case of the blind leading the blind deeper and deeper into the political and economic hell Tsvangirai got the nation into by failing to implement the raft of democratic reforms agreed in the GPA in 2008.

Until the Zimbabwe electorate take time to understand what the reforms are about; only then will they elect the men and women who too understand the reforms and will the nation be assured that all the reforms will finally be fully implemented; this nation will never break the endless cycle of empty promises change from the opposition followed by more Zanu PF rigged elections.

@ Mudhara

Yes Mutasa has broken the official secrecy act but to fail to appreciate the jest of what he said, i.e. that Mugabe rigged the elections and is therefore illegitimate would be no different from accusing the victim of rape of committing fornication or adultery! No doubt the rapist would want to have the matter confined to the bear fact of the act and not consider the circumstances under which it took place.

We are not concerned about Mutasa breaking the Official Secrecy Act but will Mugabe commit-ting the very serious crime of high treason by rigging elections!

@ Patrick

This is the best definition of corruption I could find: “Corruption is the misuse of entrusted power (by heritage, education, marriage, election, appointment or whatever else) for private gain.”

In this regard what Zanu PF is calling economic empowerment is first and foremost abuse of entrust-ed power in that Cuthbert Dube and his fellow directors in PSMAS abused their position as the top managers to award themselves exorbitant salary packages in much the same way Zanu PF chefs have misused their political power to force white farmers off the farms which they then occupied.

What Zanu PF propaganda has tried to do is read the above definition of corruption backwards with great emphasis placed on the economic empowerment derived from the private gain as for how this end was achieved; the end justified the means. If the policy was directed against the whites then the abuse was administrated with an additional flourish of just revenge.

What the definition above should have said but did not is “. . . . . for private gain but common or public lose.” Dube and the other directors’ huge salaries have resulted in the PSMAS failing to provide even the most basic service to its members. The looting of the white owned farms has resulted in Zimbabwe failing to grow enough food to feed the nation much less have some left for export. Or to put it differently; “. . . . . for private gain by a wasteful few.”

"Yes, we owe it to those heroes and heroines and to future generations to deliver a free Zimbabwe well within our lifetime. It is not impossible!" said Tsvangirai.

Zimbabwe has been independent for the last 35 years and in all these years it has been a drifting deeper and deeper into the foul smelling tunnels of hell. The nation got its “get out of hell” card during the GNU and it was none other than Tsvangirai himself who traded it in to Mugabe in return for five years of gallivanting round the world, having sea cruise of the Legend of the Sea or some such places with women of ill repute, etc. and above all the $ 4 million Highlands mansion.

As long as Zimbabweans continue to elect corrupt and incompetent who will sell-out at the next opportune moment then the country will never ever have free, fair and credible elections; enjoy the fruits of freedom human rights; economic prosperity; etc. that good democratic government bring.

If I have to name one lesson we should have learned by now after 35 years of corrupt and tyrannical rule then it is that at the end of the day people get the ruling party and opposition they deserve. We deserve this corrupt and oppressive Zanu PF dictatorship and its equally corrupt and incompetent MDC opposition. If we want a competent and democratic government then we will have to take our civic duty of electing competent leaders with the seriousness and urgency demanded of us all.

After 35 years of electing corrupt and incompetent leaders it is quite possible to continue do this ruinous path not just in our life time but for many, many more generations or even forever!

Indeed, as things stand the nation is set on electing the same corrupt and incompetent leaders; we do like to recycle our failed leaders, particularly when they have al-ready proven that they are corrupt and incompetent!

@ business

Well you have to admit that he has had the whole year (it being his Yearly Address) to write the speech with none of the globe-trotting and gallivanting of the GNU days to distract him.

Professor Ncube has given to writing an article every week!

If these MDC leaders had even done a single hour of honest work a month during the GNU years they would have had all the democratic reforms implemented! After selling out all they should do now is leave the political stage because all their attention seeking antics are a distraction the nation can ill afford.

Phillip Chiyangwa’s Zeco Holdings is nearing collapse as the company is crushed under by ad-ministration costs of $2,6 million way above and strangling its meagre revenue $500,000.

Something does not add up; here is the Group Company Chairman who has a fleet of very ex-pensive cars, only a few months ago was showing off his latest $ 500 000 limousine, and yet the company has been spending $2,6 million to earn $500 000 in revenue! Well we have the classical example of African fuelled corrupt bigger spender riding on the back of his business generating miniscule profits!

If Zeco Holdings had not relied on direct and indirect subsidies in the form of cheap bank loans, corrupt deals, years of not pay any corporate tax, etc. the company will have closed years ago.

Over the years billions of dollars have been wasted on Zeco Holdings and now it is finally col-lapsing; there is corruption at its wasteful best for you!

Zimbabwe's economic meltdown has now reached the level where everyone, except for Mugabe and his immediate family and a select few, is feeling the economic hardships.

The situation is now so bad last month a former Zanu PF minister, MP Amos Midzi, committed suicide to get away from his financial problems. He was purged from the party a few months ago because he belonged to the losing faction in the on-going dog-eat-dog in fighting in the party and he was in financial problems immediately.

Midzi's story prompted a Sunday Mail columnist, a Zanu PF control paper, to comment that Zanu PF leaders cannot survive economically outside the party and government.

Zanu PF ruling elite are fighting hard to keep poverty out of their homes with all their assets of houses, farms and other looted assets. As for the ordinary party members and povo; poverty took over their homes a long time ago, it is them who now have to knock at the door and wait for poverty to invite them to enter.

As more and more people sink into abject poverty more and more people will be forced to accept that Mugabe and Zanu PF have failed and they must now go to save the nation from further economic misery.

For 35 years Mugabe has managed to cheat, bribe and even murder all his human challengers to stay in power. It is the economy that will now going to force him out of office; he tried rigging economic recovery with his Zimasset plan but failed.

The plan was to count all the waste due to corruption and mismanagement by throwing lot and lots of money, $27 billion or seven times the country's $4 billion national budget, at the economy. He failed to get any donor(s) to bankroll such a hare-brain scheme; not even the Chinese, his all-weather friends, were interested.

The economic meltdown has been brought about by the decades of his own tsotsiocracy, they have been feeding and destroying everything like fruit fly larva and now there nothing left to eat and they have no home!

Mobutu Sese Seko left Zaire with his life and loot; Mugabe and his family will not be so lucky, the world has lost patience with looting tyrant!

In April, after being sacked from the party, Ms Mujuru said Mr Mugabe should devote less time to plots against his 35-year rule and more to reviving the country's battered economy. "It's a shame and surprising that the politburo spent long hours discussing me and less on the economy," she said

"It shows that they care less about the welfare of the people … but more about protecting their positions. Given the prevailing economic hardships and looming food crisis, the [politburo's] si-lence on these matters is deafening."

Zimbabwe’s economic woes did not start the very next day following Mai Mujuru’s sacking it was been a long but steady decline, gentle at first with an alarm nose-dive in 2000 to 2008 and then 2013 to present. Mai Mujuru is asking Zanu PF to spend more time “reviving the country’s bat-tered economy”; when was the last time the party paid any real attention on the nation’s econo-my.

She did not pay a cat’s whiskers about the economy herself until the day she was sacked from the party and government. Her life of unparalleled leisure guaranteed by the regime’s no regime change ethos ended the day she was told she was no longer a member of the exclusive Zanu PF club. The country’s ever worsen economic situation was suddenly of great importance to her as it was to the rest of us ordinary mortals because, for the first time since 1980, she too will have to earn a living and her ability to do so will now the totally dependent of rise and fall of the national economy.

It is amazing how attentive to the country’ economic vicissitudes MDC and Zanu PF leaders have become ever since they lost their gravy train seats in the rigged July 2013 elections and were purged out of Zanu PF in the December 2014 party congress. The reality of sinking with the sinking economy has opened their eyes and loosened their tongues and their call for Mugabe to do something about the battered economy is genuine and sincere. It is pity that they all had a chance to force the tyrant to do something about the economy when they were in power and now they are just as powerless as the rest of us!

It was MDC's "collective foolishness" that made them fail to get even one democratic reform implemented during the GNU, as Biti has since acknowledged. But clearly that collective foolishness is deeply ingrained into his psycho otherwise he would not be babbling now about farm and other economic reforms because nothing will ever be accomplish with the political reforms.

We need to implement all the democratic reforms and then hold fresh free, fair and credible elections. The government that will emerge out of these elections will have the people's mandate to carry out the tough economic reforms!

People like Tendai Biti are not helping the nation here by offering quick solutions that will get us nowhere.

If the people of Zimbabwe are serious about getting out of this political and economic hell then they must demonstrate that they are serious by discarding corrupt and incompetent leaders like Tsvangirai and Biti, for a start!

Zimbabwe Light said...

@whyisvm

Exactly! Zanu PF will never carryout any meaningful economic reforms, they would have done so by now if they had the political will. What we need is the political reforms, the only way we will have free and fair elections and thus remove Zanu PF from office by a constitution means.

Asking Zanu PF to carry out the economic reforms is just a waste of time and what the nation has learnt to expect from Biti and the other MDC leaders!

Zimbabwe Light said...

@ Sala

Why did he no implement that vision during the GNU; Biti of all people was involved in the GPA negotiations and knew about the raft of democratic reforms everyone at the time said were necessary for free and fair elections. And yet he failed to get even one reform implemented.

Tendai Biti has no vision never had; it is your imagination that is playing tricks on you!

Biti sold-out during the GNU but because you are too lazy to accept that you are now even twisting the reality to make him a visionary leader! How naive is that!

Zimbabwe Light said...

@ Bereka

Biti new breed! Biti is the same corrupt and incompetent idiot who wasted time during the GNU singing songs praising Mugabe as "the unflappable father of the nation" when he should have been implementing the democratic reforms.

You knack for recycling has gone overboard, now you recycling scum as cream!

With such a naïve and gullible electorate it is little wonder the nation is in a real mess and, which is worse, is truly stuck!

Zimbabwe Light said...

@ Dr Stopit

What you have said is true of Biti but I hope you are not suggesting Tsvangirai is better than Biti. They are both corrupt and incompetent to see this in one and not in the other is to fail to see they are the two faces of the same coin!

Zimbabwe Light said...

@ Sekuru Mkozvodo

What was the most important task for the MDC during the GNU years?

Answer: to implement the raft of democratic reforms everyone agreed back in 2008 were necessary for free, fair and credible elections. SADC heads reminded the MDC of the importance of these reforms but MDC paid no heed.

MDC failed to get even one single reform implemented. Not one! Why?

Because Tendai Biti et al were incompetent and, worst of all, they are corrupt. They is no doubt that Mugabe bribed them with the gravy train goodies in return for them to kick reforms into the tall grass.

Zimbabwe is still in this political mess because MDC leaders sold-out during the GNU. How any-one can a sell-out "brilliant" only goes to show how little they understand of what is going on here. Two years after the rigged elections they are still failing to get their heads round what happened! With a brain that is mostly fatty tissue after a lifetime of sloth like slumber, it is doubtful whether they ever will!

@ Mastadon

If it was not for the worsening economic situation I would agree with you that Mugabe's wish to die in office will be fulfilled even if that was to take another 20 years! Mugabe has had the great fortune of having some of the most corrupt and incompetent challengers within his own party and in the opposition, whom he was able to bribe or trick with ease.

The economic meltdown is proving to be a totally different kettle of fish because he cannot cheat, bribe or kill it! His ZimAsset plan was meant to rig economic recovery but no donors step forward to bankroll the $27 billion required.

The present economic situation is socially and politically unsustainable; it is a matter of time before something happens to force the political change necessary to allow economic change. Mugabe is now a sitting duck!

Zimbabwe Light said...

@ Bereka

Mugabe took us two steps forward and then twenty steps backwards and you have yet to realize that the sum total is 18 steps backwards!

The solution to Zimbabwe's political and economic mess is not going to be found in having more political parties; we had 28 in the 2013 elections and that changed nothing. The solution is to have an electorate that will think and reason for themselves and thus are competent to elect competent leaders.

The present voters are a naive and gullible lot, who voted in droves for corrupt and murderous Zanu PF thugs in the past and then for the last 15 years have been voting for the equally corrupt and incompetent MDC mob.

You are so incompetent you will vote for the same MDC village idiots again and again. What I am angry about is that the right to vote has been granted to people like you, and now it is a curse and not a blessing!

I would rather have a leader who accept the reality that he/she can spend days babbling against homosexuality it will not stop two consenting adults having sex. If accepting that reality means to you I am pro homosexual then so be it. A good and competent leader should have the courage to accept what he/she cannot change and concentrate his/her energy and resource on those they can change.

In my view, tyrants like Mugabe have deliberately dealt with this subject in the most emotive way to stir emotions and fear to draw the people’s attention away from the country’s many teething problems. Mugabe knew the late Cannan Banana was a homosexual but he did nothing about it, he never kicked a dust storm with Banana, because he wanted it to be a race issue!

Millions of Zimbabwe are living in abject poverty today, millions are facing starvation, there is no clean running water, the health service has all but collapsed, etc. and all this in a nation with a good soil to grow food and a great abundance of natural resources. These are the problems that should occupy all our minds and not allow ourselves to be side-tracked with issues we cannot solve even if we spend the next ten years doing nothing else!

The need to implement all the democratic reforms and hold free and fair elections is what really concerns me and I have my eyes totally fixed on that ball!

There other ways of killing a rat than trying to choke it with cheese! The Zimbabwe economy is in a real mess and your friends the Chinese and Russians are happy to join in the looting and plundering of Zimbabwe's diamonds and other resources but have been careful not to spend a dollar funding Mugabe's ZimAsset!

It is the economic meltdown that is going to force Mugabe to accept regime change. You know Amos Midzi committed suicide because he was broke and even those who have remained in the Mugabe faction like Philip Chiyangwa are facing financial ruin. The present economic situation is socially and politically unsustainable!

Why bother with UN sanctions on a regime that is already in terminal collapse!

@ Nhamodzenyika

When 76% are living on less than $200 a day at a time when Poverty Datum Line is $500 per month it is clear the 76% are not just poor they are now said to be living in abject poverty. If Mu-gabe and Zanu PF think this situation can continue like this for much longer then they are in for a big surprise!

What Mugabe will have to accept is that if he is going to finally accept change when there has been rioting across the land then he must know that the people will not accept anything short of him, his family and all his cronies giving up all the looted wealth and a few heads will roll in the sand!

White racists like Ian Smith and even nut-case Frederik Willem de Klerk in SA had the good sense to accept he could not stop the tidal change whose time had come. Sadly mindless tyrants like Mugabe and Gaddafi always try to hang-on to the bitter end – bitter end for the nation but even bitter for them and their henchmen!

@ Bereka

Listen Biti failed to get even one reform implemented during the GNU not because he did not have time - they had five years! Not because MDC did not realize that the reforms were important because they were repeatedly warned to implement the reforms by SADC amongst other people.

MDC failed to get even one reform implemented because they are corrupt. Mugabe bribed them with the gravy train lifestyles plus the $4 million Highlands mansion for Tsvangirai in return they kicked all reforms into the tall grass. They sold-out and only an idiot would think a sell-out deserves another chance. SADC and the rest of the world have dumped MDC and rightly so too.

SADC and the rest of the world will never take the same corrupt and incompetent MDC leaders as serious political leaders. Zimbabweans are free to do so of course but it will only confirm to the world that we are not yet ready to be taken seriously.

Focus on understanding what the reforms are and then go look for the men and women who not only understand what these reforms are but have a fool proof plan to get all the reforms implemented. Corrupt and incompetent individuals like Tendai Biti and Simba Makoni will not be among this quality group!

Zimbabwe Light said...

@ Bereka

I am telling the Zimbabwe electorate is naive and gullible because that is the truth. You are free to dismiss it as an insult but that will not change the facts on the ground.

A naive and gullible electorate is almost certain to elect a corrupt and incompetent and reject the competent candidate because all those fine qualities the latter is offering mean nothing to them. Get a quality electorate, like a jar of wholesome milk, cream will rise to the top. But if your electorate are more like a jar of raw sewage then of course scum not cream will rise to the top.
