Mnangagwa - Tsvangirai GNU mark2 is modern day Smith - Muzorewa internal settlement!

The details of the secret talks between Zanu PF and MDC-T are coming. VP Mnangagwa will take from Mugabe in August 2016 and Tsvangirai will be enticed to join the new GNU mark 2 with an offer VP post plus a number of ministerial positions for his mates.

“The grand aim is to destroy Joice Mujuru's threats of forming an alliance with Tsvangirai in 2018, while using the MDC-T to canvass for economic recovery and foreign investment from it's Western allies," reported The Telescope quoting a Zanu-PF legislator from Mashonaland West.

MDC failed “to canvass for economic recovery and foreign investment from it’s Western allies” during the 2008 to 2013 GNU so what makes Zanu PF believe Tsvangirai will do so this time.

In June 2009, just a few months after taking oath of as Prime Minister of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Tsvangirai set out on a grand tour of the major Western Capitals to canvass for the lifting of the targeted sanctions against Mugabe and those in his inner circle and for economic assistance. The sanctions stayed and Tsvangirai came back without a single dollar in his begging bowl because none of the Western leaders were convinced Mugabe had embraced democratic values as Tsvangirai insisted.

By failing to get even one single democratic reform implemented during the five years of the GNU Tsvangirai and his MDC friends lost all political credibility with most of the international community included SADC leaders. Indeed the latter complained that MDC leaders “were enjoying themselves and forgot why they were in the GNU” is sheer frustration at the MDC’s incompetence.

The proposed new GNU may achieve its object of stopping a Mujuru – Tsvangirai coalition but nothing more. The Western governments will certainly not be fooled into believe Zanu PF has abandoned its corrupt and tyrannical ways.

As for the ordinary people of Zimbabwe, we must reject this new political marriage of convenience because the two partners will never implement ALL the democratic reforms agreed in the 2008 GPA designed to dismantle the Zanu PF dictatorship. Tsvangirai has already come up with the watered down list of reforms which MDC is demanding must be implemented.

If we want free, fair and credible elections; we would be foolish to demand anything less since they are the pre-requisite for healthy and functional democratic system of government; then we need ALL the 2008 GPA democratic reforms and not some watered down reforms implemented fully. One will have to be very naïve and gullible to believe Tsvangirai and Mnangagwa will ever fully implement ALL the 2008 GPA reforms. Not even if they were given a thousand years to do it!

We have waited for 35 years already for our first free, fair and credible elections; we should not accept waiting another day more! If there is one thing we must get right once and once for all at lost last it is to restore the basic and fundamental right of every Zimbabwean to a meaningful free and democratic vote not only for this generation but for all time!

If Mnangagwa thinks Zimbabweans will the enthralled to hear that Mugabe is finally retiring and fall behind this GNU Mark 2 then he will have to think again. Yes Mugabe was the figure head of the Zanu PF dictatorship but we are smart enough to know that this Zanu PF dictatorship will grow a new head and thrive. We want the GPA reforms fully implemented and completely dismantle the dictatorship and we will fools to entrust him to carry out this important and critical task.

Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF friends must step down and allow an independent body to implement all the GPA reforms and then supervise the holding of free, fair and credible elections. Only a new government emerging from these elections will have the mandate of the people of Zimbabwe and the confidence and support of the whole international community to address the country’s teething political and economic problem.

The economic hardships brought on Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown are real and getting worse all the time. The economic situation is socially and politically unsustainable and Zanu PF must accept the reforms now and not waste time in this modern day version of the Ian Smith – Abel Muzorewa internal settlement!

We can discuss other things but the fact that Tsvangirai, Biti, Ncube, Mujuru and the rest of our opposition leaders are corrupt and incompetent should be a settled matter because the evidence of their incompetence is overwhelming. Why someone like Vince is still out there campaigning for a coalition of these failed leaders beggars belief.

Either Vince believes that Tsvangirai's proven record of failure can be swept under the carpet. The immediate question is how does one sweep under the carpet an act of treason and selling-out?

Or could it be that Vince believes that corrupt and incompetent though these individuals are they still nonetheless constitute the best the nation has to offer. Well I for one refuse to accept that position as nonsensical and an insult.

Zimbabwe's political system has stifled all meaningful debate and competition and it is not sur-prising that out of the system the scum in society has risen to the top. We need to change the system and allow the free flow of ideas, freedom of expression and free media that allow will allow the best brains in the land to rise to the top. We have competent leaders who can get us out of this economic and political hell Zanu PF landed us in and MDC failed to get us out of during the GNU.

What we need is for the people of Zimbabwe to unite behind the demand for meaningful demo-cratic reforms and confront Mugabe and Zanu PF with such a political reality he will have no choice but to accept reforms.

Mugabe will never ever accept the implementation of any democratic reforms as long as he has corrupt and incompetent leaders like Mujuru and Tsvangirai to deal with. He has twisted the two round his little finger a thousand times in the past and he can do so again a million times again!

People like Vince are trying to sell the nation a solution that has failed to deliver anything in the past and hope against hope that it will deliver a different result this time. We are in this mess because we have switched off and followed blindly like sheep; we must now put our thinking caps back on and allow reason to lead!

It is clear that one has to repeat themselves a thousand times to hammer the message home with people like you; the nation's destiny is at stake and so I will repeat the message a million times and a million times a million times again!

The 2008 GPA came up with a raft of democratic reforms to be implemented plus a new demo-cratic constitution so that at the end of the GNU Zimbabwe will hold free, fair and credible elec-tions. MDC failed to get even one reform implemented - if the implemented any then you tell us which reform - and Tsvangirai said repeatedly the new constitution would deliver free, fair and credible elections. Even you, a first class village idiot cannot deny that the 2013 elections were not free and fair.

The people of Zimbabwe wanted free, fair and credible elections in 2013; MDC failed to deliver that and now you want to tell the people MDC left ZSD this "the simpler part ... which is to force ZPF to fully operationalize the constitution". If it was simple then why did they not do it before the July 2013 elections? It is now less than three years to do before the next elections what is MDC waiting for; operationalize the constitution!

If we allow ourselves to follow MDC then there will be no free and fair elections again come 2018; that is a fact!

Anyone "ensconced in diaspora luxury" and yet has time to help search for a solution out of this economic and political mess is a truly patriotic Zimbabwean!

As for you Belingwe you may be "bearing the brunt of the brutal dictatorship" but that has not made you any wiser as to end the dictatorship. It is stupid idiots like you who go the nation into this mess because you always follow blindly. It is not your suffering that is going to get you and the nation out of this hell but your willingness to think! That is a hard thing for you used as you are to following like sheep!

@ Max

Well if he was responding to me then he should apologize for betraying the nation and failing to implement even one reform because he sold-out. After apologizing he must give back to the nation the $4 million Highlands mansion just as Judas Iscariot gave back the thirty pieces of silver. Last be not least Tsvingirai must then resign from all public life and go back to herding goats!

One of the greatest tragedies of our time is that war vets like Jabulani Sibanda, Chris Mutsvangwa and many others with very little functional brain to understand what the true values of the freedom struggle were ended up with so much political power and influence whereas the more rational freedom fighters like you were all side-lined and soon forgotten. Instead of the scream of our freedom fighter and liberation war heroes and heroines rising to the top we ended up with all the scum, thugs and murderous tyrants like Mugabe himself rising to the top.

Today with the nation in a real mess, with millions of our people living in abject poverty and despair, we have to wrestle political power from the tyrant and his thugs before we can start the difficult task of rebuilding this nation once again.

@ Tawanda

I could not agree with you more the GNU will not be about rescuing Zimbabweans for the eco-nomic and political mess Zanu PF has landed the nation into but about rescuing Zanu PF from losing power and accepting the dreaded regime change.

Yes Tsvangiriai too will see the GNU mark 2 as a way of rescuing him too because if the full re-forms were to be implemented properly Tsvangirai knows the political system will be so competi-tive he will be blown off the political stage. He would rather have the crumbs falling off Zanu PF's table then be force to retire from politics and go back to herding goats in Buhera!

What is making Zanu PF hesitate entering into the deal with MDC is that Mugabe knows MDC have lost all political credibility no one will ever accept the new GNU as nothing other than Zanu PF by another name. There is no point in Zanu PF eating humble pie and accept MDC as a partner only for no one to accept the change and fund the new GNU.

So I agree with you too that Zanu PF is talking for the sake of talking without any intention of concluding anything unless some Western government was to step in and assure Zanu PF that they will get the cash for the economic recovery.

@ Kamba

Everything is NOT ok in Zimbabwe and hence the reason why Mugabe and Zanu PF will have no choice and not just dilute "their mandate" but give it up!

The Zimbabwe economy is in total meltdown after 35 years of mismanagement and corruption the chicken have finally come home to roost and in their billions. The national economy has col-lapsed 90% of our people are unemployed, 16% are already living in abject poverty, the country cannot supply something as basic as clean running water, etc. and things are getting worse. As long as Zanu PF remains in power, things are set to get worse!

This is socially and politically unsustainable. Mugabe and Zanu PF are going, forming a GNU will be the halfway house although Zanu PF is not likely to go down this route because no one will accept this as a solution.

@ Belingwe

As long as we have corrupt and incompetent leaders then Zanu PF will rule forever this is why Zimbabwe Social Democrats are pushing for an end to the culture of empty slogans and a brain-washed electorate who will follow blindly like sheep.

It is bad enough to elect corrupt and incompetent leaders even for the first time but to elect the same corrupt, incompetent and sell-out individual is totally unforgivable. We in the ZSD are here to warn those Zimbabweans with a few working brain cells against doing this.

We accept that there are many who are brain-dead and to whom reason and logic seize to have any meaning. This article is not meant for people like you Belingwe; reason has as much impact on you as pearls to a pig!

@ Belingwe

But if what he is proposing is nonsense are you saying Patrick should not say so?

It is true that in 2008 ZSD supporters did not add up to 1%, the party has not been official launched even today and Tsvangirai and his MDC had 80% plus support back then. And yet MDC failed to get even one reform implemented and the 80% plus of the party's supporters were all fast asleep as they too failed to get the party to implement the reforms. Zanu PF is in power today not because of ZSD but because of MDC leaders being corrupt and incompetent.

We want to end Zanu PF dictatorship then we must get competent leaders and not retained the same corrupt and incompetent one just because in 2008 MDC had 80% public support. This is the same nonsense as we have heard from Zanu PF throughout the years, we must support and vote for Zanu PF because they are the party of the liberation from white rule.

The nation's post-independence needs were for freedom, human rights and economic prosperity; Mugabe and his Zanu PF thugs had proven to be wilfully inadequate to meet these needs and that is why they must go. Similarly Tsvangirai and MDC have failed to deliver democratic change and they too must go. To argue that they must remain because they had 80% plus supporter is as illogical as arguing that Judas Iscariot must be declared a saint because he too was one of the twelve disciples!

I should not be so hard on you, Belingwe, after all you are brain-dead and it is not your fault. May be you mother did not get enough to eat when she was pregnant with you and so your brain failed to develop properly. Still the destiny of the whole nation is at stake here and we cannot really afford to have the nation led astray by half-wits like you who should keep their hand at the level of their eyes and not masquerading as intellectuals! So I will warn you again Belingwe; you are an idiot, keep your hand at the level on your eyes!

@ Getrude

We are in this political and economic mess because for 35 years Zanu PF refused to accept that there was corruption and mismanagement and so these problems were give the time and space to grow and spread. Today these cancers are killing the national economy and the nation with them.

MDC failed to implement even one single democratic reform during the five years of the GNU because they are corrupt and competent. We are being asked to pretend Tsvangirai and his friends are the most competent leaders in history and so elect them back into office. So when they once again accomplish nothing we can say "I told you so!"? Well there is crazy!

If there is one thing in 35 years we real cannot afford to get wrong again it is to fail to implement ALL THE DEMOCRATIC REFORMS again. It will be folly to elect corrupt and incompetent individual are KNOWN to be corrupt and incompetent to carry out this important task!

Zimbabwe Light said...

“Your problem Wilbert is that, you are still living in the GNU which had already passed and we should not keep on talking about where we failed but rather the solutions to the current problems both economical and politically,” you said.

You problem Brooks is that you have never understood what the reforms were above even when they were first talked about in the 2008 GPA. Even today with the benefit of hindsight you still have no clue what these reforms are about. If you understood what they are about then you would know that we will never have any meaningful democratic changes until all the reforms are implemented. If you understood that then you would not be asking for a solution because the solution is right there staring you in the face; implement all the reforms.

I did not write this but agree with what was said. It is pleasing to note that there are a few Zimbabweans who have their thinking caps on!

@ Hazvi

Yeah I will readily admit that I have talked about reforms but if we are talking about ending the tragic situation happening in Zimbabwe today we have to talk about the reforms because we are not going to get out this hell unless and until we implement ALL the democratic reforms.

The difference between me and Vince on this matter is small but subtle and important. We both agree on the need for change and ending the tragic situation affecting Zimbabwe. Our difference is whilst I am clear that Tsvangirai is corrupt, incompetent and a sell-out and therefore cannot be trusted to implement all the democratic reforms.

I know Vince is arguing people to rally behind Tsvangirai but what Vince needs to explain to the nation is whether he agrees that Tsvangirai is corrupt, incompetent and a sell-out and, if so, does he expect Tsvangirai to deliver the democratic changes regardless the fact that he is corrupt, etc.

I believe we would be having a different debate right now if Vince clarifies that position. You and me should not have to assume what Vince thinks, we would KNOW.

Zimbabweans are not renowned for their staying power, we are like puppies that will bark for a few minutes and move on.

None of the reforms were implemented and yet some people talking of moving on to something else. It only shows that these people never believed the reforms were the key to meaningful change in Zimbabwe because if they did then surely they would know they are still important and continue to demand their implementation. Our puppy minded people are dying to move on!

Zimbabwe Light said...

@ Brook

Interesting scenario but I would say it is not a good example because you cannot compare the task of implementing the reforms, which Tsvangirai and company could have easily carried out if they had not take Mugabe's bribes to tiring the bell round a cat's neck - an impossible task.

The people risked life and limp to elect Tsvangirai and MDC into government on the ticket they will deliver the democratic changes. They had five years to implement the reforms but failed to get even one reform implemented because they sold-out.

The question before us therefore is would you risk life and limp again to elect someone you KNOW is corrupt, incompetent and a sell-out because he/she sold-out last time to do the same task they failed to do last time?

Indeed you KNOW they will not carryout the set task already because Tsvangirai has already produced a list of wishy-washy reforms he says he will implement instead of the 2008 GPA reforms we need!

Zimbabwe has a population of 12 million those who want us to believe Tsvangirai is the only one who can lead the opposition have the Zanu PF blinkered mentality which is why they still believe Mugabe is the only competent to lead Zanu PF and the nation regardless his track record of economic ruin and brutal oppression. It is only sloth like mental laziness that can produce such a first class village idiot!
