"We left behind bad thing," say ED - leopard rolls in dung to mask its scent not lose its spots P Guramatunhu

Things are bad enough when tyrants bombard the people with their propaganda and brainwash them with falsehoods. Hell breaks loose when the tyrants begin to believe their own propaganda and lies. In Zimbabwe hell has broken loose and the country is sinking deeper and deeper into the abyss!

"I was part of the (old) administration, but the good things we have brought forward and the bad things we have left behind.

There are lies and then there are damned lies; President Mnangagwa and his junta did NOT leave behind the bad things from the old administration, that is a damned lie!

President Mnangagwa has promised to end corruption and it is now eight months since the coup and he has done nothing. Frankly only the naïve and gullible believed he could ever deal with this problem since he himself and many of those in his regime included VP Chiwenga are amassed great fortunes from looting.

President Mnangagwa has also promised to hold free, fair and credible elections; another promise he clearly had no intention of honouring. Zanu PF has never ever held free, fair and credible elections ever since it got into power in 1980 and this was one bad habit Mnangagwa and his coup cabal has no intention of leaving behind after the coup. The regime had promised free elections to take the sting out of the reality that it was illegitimate since it was born out of the coup.

The coup plotters insisted the coup was not a coup but “a military assisted transition”. What was shocking is that they actually believed this nonsense themselves because the regime launched its “Zimbabwe is open for business!” on basis the coup was legal.

The last two decades, investors had shied away from Zimbabwe because the country was a pariah state ruled by thugs. Zanu PF thugs have been fighting amongst themselves like hyenas fighting over scraps and last November’s coup was just one event in that saga. To see the coup as a Damascene transformative event, transforming seasoned thugs into democrats, was wishful thinking, to say the least.

Indeed, by stubbornly refusing to implement even one democratic reform to unsure free and fair elections, President Mnangagwa could not have made it any clearer that Zimbabwe is still a pariah state ruled by thugs!

"I am finishing the term of our former President (Cde) Mugabe) up to July. But of course, on the 30th of July, I am going to win the elections and start my own mandate,” said President Mnangagwa.

"I can start my own mandate from August 1, then I (will) have more power to implement the vision I have for a new Zimbabwe, a prosperous Zimbabwe.”

No Mr President; Robert Mugabe has never earned the mandate to rule Zimbabwe because he rigged elections. With not even one democratic reform in place, you are gearing to rig these elections just as you have always done.

Zimbabwe is a pariah state; the coup, last Saturday’s bomb, the rigged elections, etc. all these events prove Zimbabwe is an unstable nation ruled by thugs; the economic meltdown will only get worse as investors continue to shy away.

"We have everything we need in Zimbabwe in terms of manpower, educated population and we have identified the enablers to reach where we want to go,” said President Mnangagwa.

Zanu PF has not changed; it is still a party of ruthless thugs for whom the coup was about consolidating their own strangle hold on power and not transforming the party into a democratic one. Zimbabwe is going to sink deeper and deeper into the political and economic abyss 38 years of corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF rule has dragged us into.

President Mnangagwa, you are a corrupt, vote-rigging and murderous thug; this nation will never know peace, justice and economic prosperity under Zanu PF autocratic rule. A leopard rolls in elephant dung to mask its scent; it will still have its spots and killer instincts. You are rigging this year’s elections; there is no free public media, there is no clean and verified voters’ roll, Zanu PF continues to rob the nation blind to bankroll its vote rigging schemes, etc., etc.; prove you still have your seasoned political thug mentality!

After the 2008 elections when Zanu PF was able to withhold the results of the March elections for six weeks whilst the regime whittled Tsvangirai's 73% to 47% to force the run-off and then used unprecedented violence to ensure Mugabe had a massive 84% victory; only the politically naive still believed Zimbabwe could ever hold free and fair elections without implementing the reforms.

When it was clear MDC leaders had failed to get even one reform implemented during the GNU; SADC leaders wanted the 2013 elections postponed. "If you got into next month's elections, you will lose: the elections are done!" they warned Morgan Tsvangirai and his friends. Sadly, MDC leaders did not listen because they believed they would still win the elections regardless hence the reason they had done nothing about the reform during the GNU.

If there is one event that has proven just how breathtakingly corrupt and incompetent MDC leaders are it is their failure to implement the reforms. In a leaked cable, former US Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Chris Dell, said Tsvangirai was "a flawed and indecisive character". Time has proven him right and the people of Zimbabwe have paid dearly for it! Zimbabwe has had many opportunities to end the Zanu PF dictatorship and MDC have wasted them all.

These elections should not be going ahead without reforms but for MDC leaders' greed. Zanu PF has learned that as long as the regime allows MDC to win a few gravy train seats they will take part in the elections regardless how flawed the process. How can these elections be free and fair when there is no free public media, no clean and verified voters' roll, Zanu PF is allowed to rob the nation blind to bankroll its vote rigging schemes, etc.?

Between 2011 and 2013, the USAID poured more than $850 million in the NGO sector, but dumped the civil society organisations after opposition parties lost resoundingly to Zanu-PF in 2013.

Most of the money was abused by project coordinators and managers, some marrying more wives, gallivanting in high seas and buying luxurious cars and houses.

The story is the same this time, with some coordinators said to have completed building their houses a few months ago.

The US, through its US Agency for International Development (USAID) has since written to the non-governmental organisations stating it had stopped funding them.

The affected NGOs, which deal in governance and political issues, include Zimbabwe Human Rights Association (ZimRights), Election Resource Centre (ERC) and Counselling Services Unit (CSU).

Zimbabwe's NGOs most be among the most useless civic organisations in the whole world. As MDC blundered from pillar to post it was none other than civic society that have cheered and applauded them all the way. Instead of coming up with decisive recommendations on what should be done to ensure free, fair and credible elections, for example, these GNOs have produced volumes of wishy-washy reports or, worse, misleading reports.

The real disappointment here, it that it has taken the Americans this long before they finally realised they were being fleeced! The nation is being spared the volumes of regurgitated nonsense!

"How can we lose an election to a disjointed ruling party? Mugabe pledged to vote for me. So if you do not vote for me, Mugabe will do so. Hence, if I happen to lose, I will know that it is you, not Mugabe, since I already have his vote," Chamisa told the rally.

MDC leaders have never wanted to remove Zanu PF from power regardless how incompetent, corrupt and oppressive the later has proven to be. All Tsvangirai and company have ever wanted is to join the Zanu PF ruling elite club and have a share of the power and the spoils of power. The other day Chamisa was promising Mnangagwa a "lucrative pension" and we know what that means - fleet of posh cars, mansions and will get to keep all the looted wealth no questions asked.

Chamisa has already said that he would never investigate Mugabe's past. "I will not drive looking in the rear-view mirror," he said on BBC HardTalk.

It is no secret that MDC leaders have greatly enjoyed their gravy train GNU years and hence the reason why they kicked the reforms into the prickle pear thicket. "Mazivanhu eMDC adzidza kudya anyerere!" (MDC idiots have learnt to enjoy the gravy train lifestyle and not rock the boat!) Zanu PF cronies used to boast, in reply to the repeated inquiries of why MDC leaders were not implementing the reforms.

Chamisa does not want Zanu PF's past investigated because he knows that he will not only see Mugabe in the rear-view mirror but himself too but most important of all, he does not want to waste his own looting time!

Those participating in these flawed elections are only helping Zanu PF with the smoke screen behind which to hide the rigging. Even if Chamisa was to win these rigged elections, he will only be a puppet, Zanu PF thugs will be pulling all the strings!

@ Sankara\

The real mistake here is for you to think you had a meaningful vote! These elections are being rigged - which part of RIGGED are you failing to understand, even with the benefit of 38 years of hindsight!

"If we do not agree on ballot papers there will be no elections this year, I was told that our party members were not given time to witness the printing of papers, hence tomorrow I am going to see Chigumba and Mnangagwa if we do not agree on that there will be no elections," bellowed Chamisa amid thunderous cheering.

Having a corrupt and incompetent opposition is proving to be one of the worst curse for Zimbabwe, second only to having a corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical riling party. The people of Zimbabwe risked life and limb to elect MDC leaders into office on the understanding they will deliver the democratic changes the nation has been dying for. As soon as MDC leaders tasted the gravy train good life they have worked tirelessly to preserve the corrupt and tyrannical system and to secure a seat for themselves. Zanu PF is rigging these elections and MDC is once again providing the smoke screen behind which to hide the vote rigging.

These elections will never ever be free, fair and credible without first implementing the reforms. The very fact that the opposition believes that an unreformed ZEC will fail to rig these elections because they, the opposition, have witnessed the printing of the ballot papers; only goes to show just how naïve they are!

Chamisa took the opportunity to endorse MDC T aspiring Member of Parliament Tulani Ndlovu ahead of MDC Alliance candidate Tinashe Muchenje. How typical!
