"Tsvangirai was robbed with his eyes open," says Chamisa - so were you, Mr Know-It-All.

“(President) Mnangagwa wants to get into office through the window abusing conditions for elections. That’s why I told him that I will not accept what they used to do to Tsvangirai who was robbed with his eyes open. As long as we don’t agree on the issue of ballot paper, the election will not be done,” said Mr Chamisa.

“We will push until it’s done. What I am saying is as long as we have not agreed on who prints the ballot paper, where it will be printed and how the security around the ballot paper will be like, there will be no election in Zimbabwe.”

Well, well! So, you, Mr “Know-It-All” Nelson Chamisa saw Tsvangirai “with his eyes open” being robbed by Zanu PF all these last 17 years. You clearly did not thing to stop the robberies. The real big question here is WHY DID YOU DO NOTHING TO STOP THE ROBBERY!

The MDC leaders, not just Morgan Tsvangirai, had five years to implement the democratic reforms necessary to stop the scourge of Zanu PF rigging the elections. This was the single most important task MDC leaders have had to accomplished in the party’s nearly 20 years in politics and they had the golden opportunity to get this done during the GNU. The party failed to get even one reform implemented.

We accept that Morgan Tsvangirai was breathtakingly corrupt and incompetent so much so he was robbed “with his eyes open”! But what about you Mr “Know-It-All” Chamisa why did you too fail to get even one reform implemented in five years of the GNU?

Even is Zanu PF granted you your wish to know who will print the ballot papers, etc. are you sure these concessions will be enough to guarantee free, fair and credible elections?

When it was clear that MDC had failed to get even one reform implemented at the end of the GNU SADC leaders advised that the 2013 should be postponed. “If you go into next month’s elections, you will lose; the elections are done!” they warned the MDC leaders at the June 2013 SADC summit in Maputo.

MDC leaders paid no heed and, as we know, Zanu PF went on to blatantly rig the elections that year. Since not even one meaningful reform has been implemented since the July 2013 rigged elections, Zanu PF is set to blatantly rig this year’s elections too.

These elections should not be going ahead without first implementing the democratic reforms, it is insane taking part in flawed and illegal elections hoping against hope to win the rigged elections, especially after 38 years of rigged elections.

It was not just Morgan Tsvangirai who was robbed with his eyes open, you and the rest of the equally corrupt and incompetent MDC leaders like Tendai Biti, Welshman Ncube, etc. were all robbed with your eyes wide open. Chamisa, you talk too much and your mouth is getting far ahead of your sluggish brain.

"No war veteran in his or her right sense can go to bed with MDC because of ideological differences," said Victor Matemadanda.

"To be frank we will never have a political link with MDC because we cannot associate ourselves with imperialists. By the way we are not a mercenary force, so how can we work with MDC? We are living in different hemispheres,"

The war veterans are saying it out and, if the truth be said, so too are many people in the state, quasi-state and even in independent institutions; such has been the corrupting reach of the Zanu PF dictatorship. These elections should not be taking place without first implementing the democratic reforms; SADC leaders were spot on this one!

Saying "no to rigging" is not going to stop rigging. MDC were advised to implement the democratic reforms during the GNU but they failed to get even one reform implemented in five years. Zanu PF is blatantly rigging these elections and the time for the people to demand that the elections be declared null and void is now and not the day after the voting.

Nelson Chamisa and Emerson Mnangagwa have one thing in common - they both love blaming their party's last leader for everything that went wrong in the party as if they were not even a senior member of the party.

President Mnangagwa was not just a senior cabinet member in Mugabe's government for the last 37 years but worse still, of all the Zanu PF leaders he has played a big role in rigging the elections and help impose Mugabe on the helpless nation.

How Mugabe has managed to con not just Tsvangirai or him and a handful of other MDC leaders but Tsvangirai and the entire MDC leaders into kicking reforms into the long grass for five long years of the GNU will go down as one of the most shameful events in Zimbabwe history. How is it possible that so many MDC leaders be so breathtakingly corrupt and incompetent!

Chamisa mocking Tsvangirai as being robbed with his eyes open is just a case of the soot-black pot calling the soot-black kettle soot-black!

Both Chamisa and Mnangagwa are breathtakingly corrupt and incompetent and add murderous tyrant for the tatter. The very fact that these two should emerge as the front runners to be the next president is itself proof of how oppressive the present political system has become. Zimbabwe's political system is like a pond of stagnant muddy water it is not surprising there is no fish left only crocodiles and frogs can survive in such a pond and that is all there is.

These elections must be declared null and void and the nation given a chance to implement the democratic reforms, the equivalent of draining the pond and cleaning it of all the accumulated thrush and scum that is choking it.

@ Dudzai

The Zanu PF vote rigging juggernaut is already in overdrive it is too late now for President Mnangagwa to hold free, fair and credible elections. The only relevant question now is are you going to participate and give the process credibility or are you going to call for the elections to be declared null and void now?

"EVERY election has its story and narrative. So political parties and candidates need to tell the story and be good at storytelling to grab the attention of voters and get their votes. The narrative usually determines who wins the battle for the hearts and minds of voters," you say.

"Political communicators say storytelling isn't about policy, credibility, or credentials; it's about a good line. They say voters connect with candidates the same way people do with books, documentaries and movies; audiences simply won't engage without a good story."

This is all very true in a country were elections are free, fair and credible and every voter's vote counts no more no less than the next voter's vote. If there is one thing the 2008 elections have proven beyond debate and doubt it is Zanu PF's vote rigging skills have now reach the epoch the result is pre-determined long before the first vote is cast.

"If you take part in next month's election, you will lose; the elections are done!" SADC leaders warned Morgan Tsvangirai and his corrupt and incompetent MDC friends in June 2013. Zanu PF went on to blatantly rig the July 2013 elections.

President Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF thugs are set to win these elections and it will not be because their story telling was better but because they are enjoying carte blanche powers to rig these elections!

@ Grace Kwinjeh

ZEC has managed to register 5.5 million voters out of a projected 7 million, let us assume the figure is correct and we give the regime the benefit of the doubt that it did not have the resources to reach the voters in the diaspora, still it means over 21% of the would-voters are denied the vote. The voter registration exercise should have been started by January 2015 to have any hope of giving all the 7 million a chance to register; it was started September 2017 instead.

The voters' roll that is now available has not been verified, there is simply no time to do so now.

We can be 100% certain that the voters' roll being circulated now is not the one that will be used on 30 July 2018, especially in the rural areas.

There will be no way of verifying that those who cast the vote are those on the voters' roll and that it was strictly one-person one-vote!

Zanu PF is already rigging these elections thanks to ZEC's failure to produce a verified voters' roll.

There are also a thousand and one other ways beside using the dodgy voters' roll for Zanu PF is rigging these elections. There is no free public media, Zanu PF is robbing the nation blind to bankroll its vote rigging and vote buying schemes, etc.

These elections should not be taking place without first implementing the raft of democratic reforms agreed at the onset of the 2008 GNU; MDC's wishy-washy reforms focus on one or two issues are a waste of time, opportunity and resources. If MDC leaders had implemented the reforms during the GNU we would not be in this mess!

These elections are not free, fair and credible because Zanu PF has a thousand and one ways to rig the elections and it is not one not to take full advantage of such opportunities. The only logic outcome now is for these elections to be declared null and void!

Both Zanu PF and MDC have had many golden opportunities to implement the democratic reforms and deliver free, fair and credible elections; they have clearly failed to do so. They must both step aside and allow the nation to appoint an interim body that will implement the reforms and deliver the country's first free, fair and credible elections!

@Dudzai Tongogara

With no democratic reforms Zanu PF has carte blanche powers to rig these elections and it is doing so. No one worth his/her salt can deny that Zanu PF is rigging these election and so MDC is banking on "winning rigged elections", as Obert Gutu once said!

All those excited about an MDC victory will be complaining that the elections are stolen by noon of the voting day, as happened last time!

It is insane taking part in an election we already know who the winner is. Zanu PF is playing with the dice with six on all six side and only a fool will bet on Zanu PF failing to throw a six!

After 38 years of rigged elections the people of Zimbabwe deserve a solution to this curse and not some village idiots gambling with the nation's destiny. These elections are flawed and illegal and they must be declared null and void!
