Chinamasa to reveal China mega deal - Chinese acupuncture is not cure for corruption, cancer!

According to a report in New Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe’s Minister of Finance, Patrick Chinamasa has called the nation’s leaders of industry and all other interested parties to the Harare International Conference Centre to “to unpack the much-vaunted ‘mega deals’ that Zimbabwe signed with China two weeks ago”.

The Zimbabwe economy is sick from the cancer of corruption that has been allowed to grow and spread these last 34 years. What we want is to remove this cancer; whatever mega-deal the Chinese are offering is no more than Chinese acupuncture, a temporary pain relief. We want a cure not a pain relief!

Zimbabwe's economic recovery will not happen without putting an end to the criminal waste of human and material resources stemming from the gross mismanagement and rampant corruption. For the last 34 years Mugabe has denied the very existence of these cancers allowing them to grow and spread and now they are the size of tennis ball and they are found in every facade of Zimbabwe economic life.

Nothing of any meaning can ever be achieved without first removing these cancerous tumours killing the nation’s economy. Even if the Chinese give Mugabe all the $27 billion he asked for in his ZimAsset plan, every penny of it; it will not be enough to put the national economy on a firm recovery path, not as long as the haemorrhaging of wealth and resources from the mismanagement and corruption is allowed to continue.

Mugabe and Zanu PF will never end mismanagement and corruption because these are the very basis of the tyrant’s political power and strength; cutting off mismanagement and corruption is like cutting off the Biblical Samson’s hair, Mugabe and Zanu PF will be helpless. It is naïve to think Mugabe and Zanu PF will ever address these core economic problems and so as long as they remain in office Zimbabwe’s economy will never recover even if the whole economic body looked like a porcupine with acupuncture needles.

If Mugabe and Zanu PF do not have the political courage and fortitude to remove the cancerous tumours kill the national economy then the regime must step down and allow the nation to elect, in a free, fair and credible election, a new regime to do it!

Even if Mugabe got all the $27 billion for ZimAsset the economic recovery will need foreign investors to spend as much starting up new companies to create the much needed jobs and generate the wealth. The regime has completely failed to attract any investors!

We need a more holistic solution and not this Zanu PF bulls**t. Mugabe and Zanu PF must step down now or else they will be kicked out the Gaddafi way! The regime has come to the end of its line and it must go and go it will!

@ James Bond

We should have achieved regime change a long time ago if those MDC idiots had implemented the demo-cratic reforms. Still, the Mugabe's immediate challenge after rigging last year's elections was for the tyrant to rig the economic recovery or else the regime's hold on power would be tenuous.

Mugabe has failed to rig economic recovery and now the economic meltdown has thrown all its python coils round the tyrant and it is beginning to squeeze. The long Mugabe tries to hang-on to power the worse the economic meltdown and the stronger the python and the tighter it will squeeze!

Mark my word, Mugabe's days in power are numbered. If the economic meltdown was some idiot like Tsvangirai I would say Mugabe can bamboozle his way out but not so with the economic meltdown. Our tyrant has to step down or be kicked out like Gaddafi - grim choice but there it is!

President Ian Khama was the only SADC Head of State who has consistently pushed Zimbabwe's MDC idiots to implement the democratic reforms throughout the life of the GNU. Sadly Tsvangirai and his friends had their noses in the feeding trough and paid no heed. If they had done so, Zimbabwe would not be in this hell-hole still.

I salute President Ian Khama and wish him the best of lucky in the upcoming elections. At the end of the day the people of Botswana will have their say and that is something Zimbabweans have been denied for 34 years!

THE MEETING WHERE FINANCE MINISTER PATRICK CHINAMASA PROMISED TO REVEAL ALL THE DETAILS OF THE MEGA-DEALS ZIMBABWE SIGNED WITH CHINA LAST WEEK HAS TURNED OUT TO BE A NONE-EVENT. THE MINISTER ANNOUNCED A FEW MORE DEALS WORTH A FEW HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS, NOTHING MUCH REALLY.

SO IS THIS THE SUM TOTAL OF THE CHINESE MEGA-DEALS MUGABE AND CHINAMASA WERE WITTERING ABOUT? THIS IS LAUGHABLE!

ALL THOSE WHO HAD HOPED AGAINST HOPE TO SEE SOMETHING GOOD TO COME OUT OF THE CHINA TRIP MUST BE CURSING FOR HAVING BEEN SO NAIVE AND STUPID!

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IN THIS ANNOUNCEMENT TO SLOW DOWN IN ANYWAY THE ECONOMIC MELTDOWN. THE PYTHON HAS ALL ITS COILS WRAPPED ROUND MUGA-BE AND IT IS STARTING TO SQUEEZE THE BREATH OUT OF ITS PREY.

MUGABE HAS LORDED OVER HIS ZANU PF PARTY BY OUTWITTING HIS PARTY MEMBERS AND TOY WITH THEM. HE BAMBOOZLED TSVANGIRAI AND HIS MDC FRIENDS. HE HAS RIGGED ELECTIONS DENYING THE WHOLE NATION A MEANINGFUL VOTE. BUT THE ONE THING HE CAN NOT CHEAT, BAMBOOZLE OR RIG IS THE ECONOMY. 34 YEAR OF GROSS MISMANAGEMENT AND RAMPANT CORRUPTION BY HIS REGIMES HAVE TAKEN THEIR TOLL AND NOW THE ECONOMY IS IN TERMINAL COLLAPSE.

MUGABE WILL HAVE TO STEP DOWN OR THE ECONOMY WILL CONTINUE TO SINK AND IT WILL PULL HIM DOWN WITH IT!

“First, Zanu-PF has employed all sorts of dirty tricks to remain in power. It has abused traditional leaders, the military and state institutions to maintain its hegemony,” said Mwonzora.

Throughout the GNU many people gave MDC very sound advice which the party ignored and it is disappointing to note that the party still maintain its single track minded mentality and will not listen to reason. Our motor-mouth Mwonzora is blaming the Zanu PF for using dirty tricks to stay in power although the very essence of the democratic reforms was to stop Mugabe using the same dirty tricks. MDC was told to implement the reforms but paid no heed.

If we really want to get out of this mess then the Zimbabwe electorate have to wise up and not be taken in by incompetent idiots like Mwonzora who are as confused as they are stupid.

The Chiefs have been campaign for an increase in their allowance but saying nothing about the tragic events in the country.

These old institutions have no place in a democracy and we have good cause to scrap it! It will be scrapped!

@ Usavihwevhu

How many people have given MDC sound advice over the years and the party ignored it? MDC are desperate to get back on the gravy train and they are willing to promise anything and everything including the promise to listen to advice. Once they get back into power, the ear plugs will be back in fashion once again.

MDC should have listened when they were told to implement the reforms they did not. No one in their right mind will ever trust these idiots again; the donors have walked away and they are not the one to eat vomit!

@ Mutsvangwa

Mutsvanga is as guilty as everyone else in Zanu PF of being obsess with who will succeed Mugabe. Whenever he has nothing fresh to say about his faction he asks the other faction members to concentrate on the economy.

“The most important thing facing Zimbabweans is their economy, how it can deliver prosperity to ordinary Zimbabweans,” Mutsvangwa said. What does he know about the economy anyway?

The root cause of Zimbabwe's economic meltdown is the corruption and this has been there for the last 34 years. Yes, in the last decade it has grown to the point it can no longer be ignored, still it is nonsense that Mutsvangwa should talk about economic problem as if it is a new thing.

If Mutsvangwa is really concerned about the economy then he should know that Mugabe and Zanu PF ran out of ideas on fixing the economy a long time ago and the best the regime can do now is to step down to allow fresh free, fair and credible elections to take place!

@ Mike
That is true but that has not fooled the economy, it has continued to decline with companies closing right, centre and left. Mugabe went to China and came back with an empty ZimAsset begging bowl and in two weeks he has to find money to pay civil servants.

You see Mugabe has hoodwinked his fellow Zanu PF leaders for 34 years, 34 year waiting for their turn to rule and many of them died as poor as a church mouse whilst he has remain in power and living in unparalleled luxury. He bamboozled Tsvangirai and his professors, lawyers and God knows what else beside into doing nothing about implementing the all-important democratic reforms. Not even one reform was implemented in five years of the GNU. But the one thing Mugabe cannot hoodwink or bamboozle is the economy.

Now that the Chinese have refused to give him even a dollar for his ZimAsset the economic meltdown, like a python, will be squeezing Mugabe hard. Every time he breaths out it will squeeze him tighter, every time he farts it will squeeze tighter any little bit of slack and it will take it up.

Mugabe will have to step down or the national economy will continue to sink until he does! This is it!

To boost government coffers, Chinamasa has announced a five percent increase in mobile phone airtime and a 25 percent import duty on mobile phone handsets. Excise duty on petrol will go up to 30 US cents from 25 cents (0.19 euros to 0.23 euros) a litre and the import duty on motor vehicles will rise by between 15 and 20 percent.

The more Mugabe tries to ignore Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown the more its squeezes the regime and remind us all that it is THE BIG ISSUE.

After all the high profile and very public announcement of the “mega – deals” President Mugabe signed with China during his recent visit the very next day Minister Chinamasa quietly announces duty and tax increases on this and that. This is not yet time for him to announce his midyear budget adjustment but the cash crisis is so urgent it cannot wait for the November review.

None of the mega-deals signed with China will have any effect on the economic meltdown and hence the panic to raise revenue confirms it.

Chinamasa is just flogging a dying horse; instead of these increased taxes generating more revenue the collected revenue may fall as sells drop and more and more company close; the law of diminishing returns.

The economic meltdown will get worse as long as Mugabe and his regime remain in office; it is like a python it will squeeze tighter and tighter until the tyrant admit failure and step down or the people revolt and kick him out!

@ Pinkk Nguruwe

Many of the Zanu PF hard core have been forced to accept the reality that the regime has failed because they are themselves on the coal face. For years they refused to accept that Zanu PF has failed to deliver mass prosperity because they continued to loot to keep afloat. It is only when you look at party grandees like the late Enos Nkala and Nathan Shamuyarira and how miserably poor they were in their later years that is when you know poverty has reached the inner most core of Zanu PF itself.

Even those who are still in power are feeling the sickening effects of the economic meltdown. Police Commissioner was supposed to witness the pass out parade of new Police Officers instead they witnessed him passing out. His shoes were too tight, he could not stand in dead feet especially given it was Mugabe giving one of his long winded speeches starting nowhere and going nowhere else.

The regime is broke the new Police Officers will have the one pair of boot for the next five years, even the Police Chief cannot afford a fitting pair of shoes!

You or I do not have to tell Chihuri or his Police Officers that the Zimbabwe economy is in meltdown; they are living the consequences of it every day!

Zimbabwe Light said...

@ Pinkk Nguruwe

Poverty has been as ruthless with Zanu PF hard liners as it has been with povo of that you is no doubt. The only reason many Zanu PF members are still supporting the regime is because they are desperately trying to hang on to the looted farms and other goodies and, worse still, because they do not want to account for the human blood on their hands.

They are fighting a lost battle; the economic meltdown is here and it is now squeezing Mugabe. As long as Mugabe remains in power the economic meltdown will get worse and pressure on him to step down will only increase by the day! He will be forced to go or be kicked out like Gaddafi!

Zimbabwe Light said...

@ Bingo

They thought that Mugabe, the cunning fox, who rigged the 2013 elections would rig economic recovery too. Now it is finally dawning on them that he could not. All his talk of China helping Zimbabwe was all hot air; as Chinamasa has since admitted the Chinese told Mugabe in his face that he is a bad debtor and so they refused to give him a single Yuan for the much needed budgetary support.

Even someone as stupid as Mai Mujuru will soon realise that the party she is fighting to lead does not the same iron grip on power as before. She has sat there all these years and failed to see this coming and now that the country is suffering from the economic meltdown she does not have the foggiest idea what has caused it much less what to do about it. Look at her!

The sooner Mugabe and all his Zanu PF cohorts step down the sooner this nation can start the difficult task of rebuilding the nation. The longer they try to hang on to power the worse the economic situation will get increasing the pressure for them to go or be kicked out!

Zimbabwe Light said...

@ vuvuvu

They rigged the elections and now they are failing to rig the economy. 34 years of gross mismanagement and rampant corruption have taken a heavy toll on the economy and instead of dealing with these problems Mugabe thought he was being clever in denying these problems and finding all manner of scapegoats to blame for the country's poor economic performance. Well the chicken have come home to roost.

He tried to turn on all his charm on the Chinese hoping they will bankroll his ZimAsset plan and they told the tyrant in his face that he was a bad debtor and refused to given him even a dollar in budgetary support. That was the tyrant's last throw of the dice and he came up with nothing.

From hence forth the economic meltdown will get worse as long as Mugabe and Zanu PF remain in power; the python has its coils round them and the squeezing has started is earnest! They will have to step down now or the people unable to take the economic hardship any long will kick them out the Gaddafi way!

@James Bond

In the late 1980s the Boers in SA realised apartheid was going nowhere and agreed to negotiate for a peaceful transition. Is Mugabe smart enough to admit that his Zanu PF dictatorship has failed and must now go? Well so far he has shown that he is stubborn and will hang on to power at all cost.

Now that the economic meltdown has started squeezing him and his regime in earnest, let us hope that will force them to come to their senses.

This time Mugabe is not dealing with the dim-wits in his party whom he hoodwinked for 34 years or is it the incompetent MDC he bamboozled these last 15 years. The economy is a tough opponent he can neither hoodwink nor bamboozle. He and Zanu PF will go; it is just a matter of how and when!

Zimbabwe Light said...

@ Craig M

They were sure that Mugabe would rig economic recovery and it would be business as usual. When the tyrant came back from China empty handed, and the economic meltdown continued to squeeze hard even they started to pay attention!

Mai Mujuru she has sat there all these year without a care in the world and totally oblivious of the economic disaster happening right in front of her. Consider this economic meltdown as extra hot chill, so hot it has cut through all those layers of fatty tissue in her brain to reach the few remaining active brain cells; look at her, for the first time ever even she is paying attention!

Zimbabwe Light said...

There was a power cut in many parts of Zimbabwe following the loose of generation at Hwange Power Station. ZESA spokesman said the generator tripped following a fault on the system.

Some of these power projects, like Kariba South Extension, this regime is final undertak-en a and is making a big song and dance about have been on the cards as far back as 1980 for Pete’s sake. Besides because there was no international bidding in the awarding of these project there is no doubt the nation is paying the Chinese top dollar for the work.

The fault behind the ZESA outage is almost certain to be because of the years of poor or no proper maintenance. The years of kiya kiya maintenance are coming home to roost!

In his desperate effort to be seen as doing something to address the nation’s economic problems Mugabe is digging us into an even deeper economic hole. The best thing this corrupt and murderous tyrant can do for the nation is for him and his Zanu PF thugs to step down and fcuk off! Whether they like it or not this time they will fcuk off because the economic meltdown will only get worse until they do!

Zimbabwe Light said...

All these project like the dual carriage way road and power projects he signed with the Chinese will not do nothing to pay the civil servant wages, stop the closure of companies up and down the country, etc. The economic meltdown is gathering momentum and is not so easily fooled by all these meaningless platitudes.
“I can assure you that Britain, Europe and America are already starting to get worried that they have been replaced by China,” said Mugabe.
“Now they are trying to improve relations but we’re not in a hurry.”

The economic meltdown getting worse every day Mugabe remains in power; China was the tyrant’s last chance to do something to slow it down, it is downhill from henceforth. The economic meltdown, like the python, has its coils round the tyrant and the squeezing has started. Mugabe is in denial, he is hoping the West will fall for his nonsensical threat to give everything to China if they do not hurry. Each time he breaths out the python will take up all the slack and squeeze; the bluffing will not last!

@ Whichfool

I also discovered economic meltdown - you will know what it means soon enough!

Economic meltdown is the bulldog that has Mugabe and the rest of Zanu PF by the balls or buttocks. Ndicho chonodzi chiravira mapenzi eZanu PF!

Zimbabwe Light said...

@ Chaporomoka

The regime is desperate but whatever they try to do now it will only make the economic meltdown worse. As long as Mugabe and Zanu PF remain in office there is only one di-rection the economy will go and that is down.

The economic meltdown is hurting ordinary Zimbabweans but, this time, it is hurting Zanu PF ruling elite too. Look at Zanu PF grandees like the late Enos Nkala and Nathan Shamuyarira they spent the last years of their lives living in abject poverty. If they had not been declared national heroes, they would have had a pauper's burial! Poverty has reached the inner most core of Zanu PF ruling elite.

The days and months ahead will focus the minds of even the biggest idiots in Zanu PF forcing them to finally admit that this Mugabe rule has failed and mush be discarded. Even dunderheads like Mai Mujuru and Mnangagwa who have been in power all these years and never noticed that Mugabe was destroying the nation are finally beginning to notice that the economy is in meltdown.

The serious economic decline has been the extra hot chill cutting right through the layers of fatty tissue, brain tissue turned into fat following the decades of slothful existence, to reach the few still working brain cells. There is not much brain activity to think the way out of this mess of course but there is enough to make them realise they are going no-where. The worsening economic situation will help ram the message home into these hermetically sealed Zanu PF dunderheads.

You should see the economic meltdown as a python with is coils round Mugabe and his Zanu PF cohorts and the longer they try to hang on to power the worse the economic meltdown will get and the tighter the python will squeeze!

Mugabe and his Zanu PF thugs must resign and go and they will!!

It is people like Nkomo who have the wrong end of the stick. MDC leaders have already shown that they are breathtakingly incompetent in failing to get even one reform implemented in their five years in the GNU it is only the politically naive who still expect any good from that lot. The donors deserted MDC after trying and failing to stop MDC taking part in the July 2013 elections; they have never looked back which is why MDC has funding problems.

If Zimbabweans cannot see MDC for the incompetent village idiots they are even with the benefit of hindsight then God help us!

@ZUPA

The very fact that the country is in this political and economic mess speaks volumes about the poor quality of leadership in government and opposition. I also believe that the quality of leaders is a reflection of the quality of society from whom them emerged; poor leaders with no vision and sense of direction therefore come from poor and confused societies who will follow blindly and never ask hitherto they are going.

Your article and few others like it shows a new awaken in the country; you have this matter a great deal of thought and that is what makes a quality electorate as distinct from the mediocre one that has been the nation’s curse.

As regards your political party and its set goals; my comment is that you should seek political power first and then address the economic issues. As long as we have a political system in which those in power cannot be held accountable by the people and a political party like Zanu PF rules until donkeys have horns; you can have the soundest economic policies but they will never see the light of day.

The single most important task before us right now is to end the Zanu PF dictatorship by getting all the democratic reforms, MDC should have implemented during the GNU, implemented and then hold free, fair and credible election. We must secure the democratic rights of all citizens to a meaningful vote; nothing of substance will ever be accomplished until we do that!
