MDC call for fresh start - no fresh start as long as the same corrupt MDC leaders remain in opposition!

MDC’s views the people coming together in the Itai Dzamara prayer meeting as a sign the people are joining the party’s big tent coalition call.

The MDC would like to encourage all patriotic Zimbabweans, living in the country and in the Diaspora, to join hands in peacefully pushing the corrupt, insensitive, incompetent and violent Zanu PF regime out of power. ……… etc., etc. Zimbabwe needs a fresh start,” wrote MDC spokesman Obert Gutu.

The nation is in this political and economic hell-hole because for the last 35 years, we, the people, have failed to take the business of election competent national leaders with the seriousness and importance the matter demands. If the nation is to end the corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF rule then we must first of all elect competent men and women who will finally implement the democratic reforms the corrupt and incompetent MDC leaders failed to implement during the GNU.

MDC leaders will never accept that Zimbabwe had its best chance ever during the GNU to implement all the democratic reforms agreed in the 2008 GPA which would have stop Zanu PF rigging the elections and thus end the Zanu PF dictatorship once and once for all. MDC failed to get even one of the democratic reforms implemented. Not one.

MDC had the time, five years; had the opportunity, the GPA; and had the backing and encouragement of SADC, who were the guarantor of the agreement; to implement the reforms. There are only three reasons why MDC did not implement any reforms; the party’s leaders are breathtakingly incompetent, corrupt and they are sell-out.

How does electing the same breathtakingly corrupt, incompetent and a sell-out constitute “a fresh start”?

MDC is taking advantage of the people’s worsening economic misery to get themselves elected back into power; they know a desperate electorate will do desperate things.

What the electorate should understand is that MDC will never get the nation out of this hell-hole because they will never end Zanu PF’s tyrannical rule. If MDC failed to get even one reform implemented during the GNU when the party had all the tramp cards what chance is there of them doing so now when it is Mugabe and Zanu PF who now hold all the tramp cards?

The only way the nation is going to end the Zanu PF dictatorship and thus have a truly “fresh start” is by first of all getting rid of the country’s corrupt, incompetent and sell-out opposition leaders and electing competent ones!

The people of Zimbabwe were naïve, gullible and foolish to have trusted corrupt and incompetent leaders like Tendai Biti and Morgan Tsvangirai to deliver on their promise of bringing democratic change. It will be an act of unforgivable folly for this nation to elect corrupt and incompetent leaders ever again much less to elect the same village idiots who have already proven beyond all doubt that they are indeed corrupt and incompetent!

The key to ending our political nightmare, a fresh start, is for the electorate to elect competent leaders, something both Zanu PF and MDC have actively brainwashing the people turning them into sheep who blindly follow the leaders without ever asking any questions. We need a thinking electorate and the worsening economic situation should force us to think and not to panic.

I agree that all of us should be opposed to this corrupt, tyrannical and murderous Zanu PF dictatorship and per se that makes us all opposition. But being in the same opposition camp should not mean we stifle meaningful debate or, worse still, avoid making the tough decisions for the sake of unity.

Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends failed to implement even one democratic reform throughout the five years of the GNU because they ARE breathtakingly corrupt, incompetent and they are sell-outs. In a healthy and functioning democracy someone who is guilty of one of these serious failures will be forced to apologize and resign from public office; the MDC leaders are guilty of all three.

The political purge of corrupt, incompetent members is good for any organization just as it is good for a tree to prune diseased branches before they infect the other branches.

There are those who want MDC’s serious betrayal of the nation swept under the carpet and as for Tsvangirai and the rest of his MDC leaders they are fighting tooth and nail to remain as the leaders of the opposition.

If the primary object of the opposition is to end the Zanu PF dictatorship then the choice is a single one – we need a tough and competent leadership if we are to dismantle the well-established and ruthless Zanu PF machinery. To go with leaders like Tsvangirai who have already proven beyond all doubt that there are corrupt and incompetent is sheer folly.

I am for unity and I do subscribe to the notion that there is strength in numbers but before we talk of unity we must first deal with the tough questions of where are we, where are we going and who is to lead us there. We are is this mess because for 35 years we have been following blindly tyrants and village idiots like Mugabe and Tsvangirai. We must change that!

Unity is a virtue but only when you are doing the right thing otherwise it is folly! There will be nothing to be gained by joining the corrupt and incompetent Tsvangirai is his big tent other than confirming to all that you too have learnt nothing from the past.

@ dissident

I am holding Tsvangirai et al to account for betraying the nation and making such corrupt and incompetent individuals are never again elected into office. We need a competent opposition if we are ever to going to end this Zanu PF dictatorship; I am making sure we have a competent opposition by weeding out the corrupt and incompetent opposition leaders.

If you think that is "whinging then so be it; I am whinging to ensure we have leaders who will deliver real change and not betray us once again!

Africa is renowned for stifling all meaningful debate and competition so that the only voice heard is that of the leader; since it is only the leader who is seen and heard it is assumed that he/she must be really smart to be so far ahead his challengers are so far behind they cannot be seen or heard. Mugabe has cultivated such a system by surrounding himself with the dullest people ever, the late VP Simon Muzenda and former VP Joice Mujuru – it would be easier to get red blood from a stone than get a single coherent original idea from these two - and then making sure they have no real power. In all his 35 years in power and globe-trotting, Mugabe has never allowed a single cabinet meeting to take place unless he is there to chair it.

People are seeing Grace Mugabe as a potential president only because she has been allowed to have a good start way ahead of everyone else also interested in taking over after Mugabe. Last year Grace was allowed to go attack Joice Mujuru, who was seen as a serious threat to Mugabe’s continued rule, for example, whilst the latter had her hands tied behind her back and had a gag she could not even scream!

The truth is Mugabe is not as smart as people make his out to be; how could he have completely destroyed the nation’s economy, for example, if he had any common sense! Grace is even worse than her husband; she is full of hot air like an inflated hot air balloon! Mugabe has destroyed the nation’s economy, unless she can fix the economy her reign will not last; she does not have a clue how to fix it. It is the economy stupid that will decide who will rule Zimbabwe!

@ Mukaranga

After 15 years of looking to Tsvangirai to deliver change it is being realistic and pragmatic to accept that he is corrupt and incompetent to force Zanu PF to end the dictatorship.

People like you must be Zanu PF double agents telling the gullible MDC supporters that Tsvangirai is their man for change knowing only too well that he will never deliver anything. Well you can fool the naive and gullible MDC supporters but you are certainly not fooling SADC, the international community or are you fooling any Zimbabwean who have accepted that Tsvangirai is corrupt and incompetent.

@ Patrick

The people of Zimbabwe gave Tsvangirai and his MDC friend 15 years to deliver democratic change and he has clearly failed. During the GNU, MDC had all the time and opportunity to im-plement the reforms and thus end the Zanu PF dictatorship.

Raila Odinga in Kenya who was in a similar GNU implemented all the reforms and Kenyans had their first free and fair elections. The only reason Tsvangirai failed to implement even one re-form is because he and his MDC friends are corrupt and incompetent.

After 15 years of trying the same corrupt and incompetent MDC only a fool would still want them to champion democratic change particularly when getting them implemented this time will be a real challenge!

It is one thing for one or two individuals to try the same corrupt and incompetent MDC again after 15 years expecting a different result but for the whole nation to do it is cause for concern!

We probably have to hit rock bottom before people finally accept that MDC are no good; we are nearly there, only DRC to beat now! The only price to be collected for winning the rat race is increased economic hardships and that it will even harder to climb up again!
