It is incumbent on Zimbabweans, not God, to sort the country's mess!

It is not for God to do for mankind what man can and should do for himself!

It is the mark of a good farmer, one not afraid of hard work; to pray for good rains and will put his back into doing everything else to secure a good harvest. The lazy man will pray for a bumper harvest expecting the Lord to not just ensure there is good rains but to tender the fields for him too. The former will thank the Lord for the wholesome meals whilst the latter will curse God, the ancestors and whoever else he can for having turned their back on him as night after night he goes to bed on an empty and rumbling stomach.

If you water you cow and ox so they do not have to track five kilometres or more one way and five kilometres or more back in the hot African sun just for a drink of dirty water; the cow will reward you with more milk and the ox will be fit to plough your land. That is common sense!

In this day and age; these is enough technical know-how out there to make the desert bloom. It is therefore an outrage that a country like Zimbabwe with rich soils and abandon rains should be in this ridiculous position where year on year the country cannot produce enough feed its own people!

Many Zimbabweans have taken great comfort in Makandiwa’s prophecy that the country’s economy will recover and they do not have to lift a finger! There is the mark of a false prophet because God does not do for man what man is perfectly capable of doing for himself!

It is nonsense to pray for the Lord to end the Zanu PF tyrannical rule. What these people are tacitly admitting is that Mugabe and his cronies are beyond the reach of ordinary mortals and hence the call for Devine intervention. These people insult God! Mugabe and his cronies are mere mortals, the scum of the earth at that. It is incumbent upon us to clean our own human scum and not to be calling on God to do our dirty work for us!

“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference,” prayed Reinhold Niebuhr.

If mankind was still in the Biblical Garden of Eden then Reinhold Niebuhr would have no need for such a prayer because in the Garden of Eden everything was good, just as the good Lord had decreed. There would be no need to change anything!

However Reinhold Niebuhr prayer was made for a totally different world, the one Adam and Eve have inherited after they were kicked out of the Garden of Eden.

“In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out it wast thou taken,” thundered the Lord to the receding figures of the fig-leaf cladded lovers!  Lord have mercy; that was some price to pay for a quickie!

Like Reinhold, Zimbabweans too should be praying for serenity, courage and wisdom. It seems they have been praying to be readmitted Garden of Eden instead. And worse still, encouraged by the politicians and the many false prophets who have profited greatly from the people’s naivety, they have been behaving as if they have indeed been readmitted back in the Garden of Eden.

In 34 years Mugabe has turn Zimbabwe from a prosperous nation into this hell-on-earth in which millions now live in abject poverty with 85% plus out of work, 80% of children out of school, etc. because the we have become a nation of daydreamers. We have tenaciously held on to the dream of life of luxury and leisure back in the Garden of Eden and would not accept that we are mere mortals like the rest of mankind and per se must sweat to earn our bread!

“Cheva chingondora chava chingombe; kutadza kutunga huremwa hwacho,” so says a Shona saying. (A yearling calf with sprouting horns should be able to defend itself; it is its own funeral if it fails!)

Mugabe and his cronies are blundering morons without even the common sense to see the hell-hole they were digging entrap the ordinary Zimbabweans would entrap them as well. When Zanu PF grandees like the late Nathan Shamuyarira have had to live and die in squalor that shows that poverty has penetrated and ravished the inner core of the ruling elite as it has ravished povo.

Mugabe and his ruling elite need rescuing from the hell-hole of their own making as much as the rest of us do. To therefore treat Mugabe as anything other than a fallible mortal with a propensity to commit mistakes that defy common sense, not demigod at all; is itself foolishness beyond words!

Conclusion

There is nothing wrong with being religious but there is everything wrong with an adult behaving as if they are as helpless as a baby!  If God had intended mankind to be a totally helpless creature dependent on Him for everything then He would not have granted mankind a discerning mind to know what is right from wrong and the freedom to act as we saw fit!

Zimbabwe is in a real political and economic mess; it is the responsibility of the people of Zimbabwe, not that of SADC, the international community or God, to sort this mess out. We must put our backs into it and stop making excuses for doing nothing!

Signed. Wilbert Mukori

The French Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Laurent Delahousse, said France was happy with what the Zanu PF government has been doing and hoped the two countries will “fully engage” by the end of the year”.

“We are happy that President Robert Mugabe has tried to initiate a safe and sustainable environment for the investors. That is precisely what the government of Zimbabwe is doing at the moment,” he said.

The French government awarded Morgan Tsvangirai some dubious leadership award only for him to show in the 2013 election just what an incompetent and complete idiot he was by taking part in the elections without even one reform implemented. Now the French are at it again.

The Mugabe regime has refused to scrap its indigenisation law which force all foreign investors to have a local partner whether they wanted a local partner or not. The local partner, a Zanu PF crony, would be nothing but a blood parasite the size of a monkey! So how does that equate to a “safe and sustainable environment for investors”? The French are once again out on a limb!

Any French investors who invest in Zimbabwe under these conditions will only be doing so be-cause they will stand to make so much money the negative effect of the monkey ticks will negligible. The French should know that such deals will be looked at closely; Zimbabweans are sick and tired of nations who are propping up this tyrannical regime for selfish economic gain at the expense to the long suffering masses.

Up to 250 000 Zimbabweans could be forced to return back home if their work permits due to expired by the end of the year are not renewed.

I feel sorry for all those Zimbabweans who are caught up in all this for no fault of their own. If the Zimbabwe economy was picking up then they will at least have some hope of getting a job. As things stand, there is no chance of landing a job if they returned to Zimbabwe now. None!

@ Guest 001

I agree telling Zimbabweans to go into the diaspora and tax their earnings would make better sense. The regime will do that anywhere, until the scrapping of the Z$ it was indirectly taxing the remittance by allowing the ruling elite only to trade foreign currency on the black market and arresting everyone else. They made a killing!

The point here, however, is for the regime to blame the people in the diaspora for the country's economic meltdown. The regime does not want to admit that rampant corruption is the cancer killing the economy so it has to come up with something else.

At least 70% of the Zimbabweans in the diaspora left the country in the last ten years. So until then they were in the country and if was their presence that was required to build the nation and make it prospers, why did that not happen?

The regime blaming the people in the diaspora for the country's economic problems is no more logical than the big bad wolf upstream blaming the lamb downstream of fouling the water he is drinking.

Zanu PF has become the self-certified doctor who has profited from treating the patient for the wrong illness. We have all known the patient has cancer but Zanu PF has denied it is cancer. Now the patient is in the ICU. If we are ever going to get to the patient and treat the cancer we must first get rid of Zanu PF or the patient will die!

We cannot start addressing the nation's many pressing problems as long as Zanu PF remains in power disrupting everything we do just to hide its dirty past and protect its got wealth and soiled reputation.

@Chimbwido

Mugabe was expecting $27 billion from Zimbabweans in the diaspora; what a joke! Other than the ruling elite's children and relative and the ruling elite themselves with foreign bank accounts no other Zimbabweans have fat bank accounts.

Mai Mujuru has a fortune of $3 billion in her own right and the late husband had $ 9 billion and no doubt some of it was given to the daughter in Spain. Mugabe has his own billions in assets and cash outside the country. But of course they did not loot the wealth so that they will give it all back as ZimAsset contribution!

Mugabe thought his vote rigging plan was so clever the West will "not know what hit them", as he said soon after the 2013 Election results! The West would then reward him with the cash for the ZimAsset plan. He was shocked when the West led by Americans told him in no uncertain terms that he rigged the elections and the sanctions will stay. There was no point talking about ZimAsset funding.

Mugabe turned to his Chinese friends confident they will only be too glad to give him the full amount and thus give the West the middle finger! The Chinese dithered and asked for this and that but in the end said NO!

The regime had its hopes raised when the EU starting talking of re-engagement but it was only those countries who are after the country's diamonds. The EU was NOT going to bankroll ZimAsset, that is now very clear!

So in desperation the regime has changed tack "ZimAsset is a Zimbabwean grown project. It was not created to seek or beg for foreign aid but to be financed by the nationals of Zimbabwe!" You tell us. Whatever you say!

What matters is that after a year of begging from the West, the East, the North and the South from foreigners or Zimbabweans alike; there is not a penny in the begging bowl! ZimAsset is dead in the water! Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown continues and is gathering pace with each passing day and more and more Zimbabweans are sinking deeper and deeper into economic poverty and despair. No one is being spared. No one!

Zanu PF's cynical painting of the late party grandee Shamuyarira’s house the day he died could hide the fact that he had been living in abject poverty and that he died a pauper!

The bottom line Chimbwido is that ZimAsset is dead, Mugabe could not rig economic recovery and the way out is for regime to resign or the economic meltdown will continue until it does!

@ Chimbwido

One of the tragic consequences of having a tyrannical regime is that it erodes the people's self- confidence. It makes them feel so powerless and helpless they accept the regime as they only one that should rule regardless how incompetent it has already proved to be.

The Zimbabwe Social Democrats' position is that any Zimbabwean can and should aspire to be president. Every mother out there should look at their baby and treat him or her as the future president of Zimbabwe because there is nothing to stop him or her becoming the president!

The one and only condition one must fulfil to be president is that they must be elected by the people of Zimbabwe in a free, fair and credible election!

The Zimbabwe Social Democrats' main task right now is to make sure Mugabe and his cronies who rigged last year's elections and now find they cannot rig economic recovery do not drag the nation into the deepest recesses of hell for the sake of holding on to power.

For years it was the ordinary Zimbabweans who had suffered the economic consequences of the regime's misrule but poverty has now penetrated the inner most sanctuary of the Zanu PF ruling elite.

Look at Shamuyarira was minister for donkey years and yet he died as poor as a church mouse! Mugabe had his house painted the day he died to hide the years of neglect, rot and decay. I will bet you; the back of the house was not painted!

Look at Augustine Chihuri, Police Commissioner for donkey years and yet he could not afford a new pair of shoe. Instead of witnessing the pass out parade of new Police recruits (who have been told they will have to use money collected at road blocks to buy their uniforms) they witnessed him passing out. The old shoes were so tight fitting it was impossible to stand in dead feet right through Mugabe's usual rambling speeches!

Even Mugabe himself is fighting to keep poverty at bay. He gave his daughter Bona Nyapudzai the Mazowe Farm, for example, to shield her from poverty but knowing fully well that she, together with everyone else in the party, will not be able to hold on to any of this looted wealth the day Zanu PF finally crashed down.

Zanu PF is collapsing from within because the core is rotten through and through. The ZSD's task is to make sure a democratic dispensation emerges out of the Zanu PF ashes.

Create a truly democratic system and the people will elect the competent leaders to sort out the country's problems. Of course they will occasionally make the mistake and elect a tyrant like Mugabe or a village idiot like Tsvangirai but they will learn from those mistakes as long as the democratic system remains strong!

Wilbert Mukori for president! Well is a corrupt and murderous tyrant like Mugabe can be president the country will be infinitely better off with me as president! I also have the humility to admit there are better candidates than myself out there. Let the people decide; in a free, fair and credible elections.

Besides, I have other fish to fry - I would like to take sure at least some all those who have shed the blood of innocent Zimbabweans face justice. You see, I have not forgotten the promise I made to you Chimbwido to see you hang for what you did during your days in Mbare!

It is pleasing to note that months of staring at that mockingly empty ZimAsset had taken its toll on our friends in Chibuku House; they have finally come to their senses. As some of us have been saying all along, rigging the elections was one thing; rigging economic recovery will be a different ball game. The West and China Mugabe expected to bankroll the ZimAsset plan will not be so easily bamboozled as MDC.

These talks not going to be a waste of time then they must lead to free, fair and credible elec-tions because that is the only way out of this mess.

Zanu PF's failure to hold free and fair election is the root cause of the country's political and economic problems and Rugare Gumbo demand that the nation should accept Mugabe's rigged July 2013 elections as legitimate is therefore totally unacceptable. This is the wrong we want put right; how can we do that if we accept the wrong as a right from the on-set!

It was Tsvangirai's breath-taking incompetence in failing to implement even one reform that al-lowed Mugabe to blatantly rig the 2013 elections. The idiot had five years to implement the re-forms and failed to get even one reform implemented. Even with the benefit of hindsight he still does not have a clue what these reforms are about. It is would be better for him to shut his trap!

Tsvangirai, muromo wako haumharwe nehunzi noti wakaite sei!

@ Chimbwido

You are really shallow! Zanu PF has produced one manifesto after another with policies covering everything to satisfy you year after year elections after elections but what have they achieved over the years other than land us in this mess.

I told you unless Mugabe can rig economic recovery he will have no choice but resign. Rugare Gumbo is now saying Zanu PF is ready for reform talks. 12 months of staring at the mockingly empty ZimAsset begging bowl has taken its toll!
