Mujuru's call for diasporans to returns shows she has no clue what is going on!

Vice President Joyce Mujuru’s call on all Zimbabwean in the diaspora to return to Zimbabwe to help build the nation shows that she really does not a clue what is wrong in Zimbabwe much less what should be done to put things right.

“The economy may not be moving in the direction that some of us would have wanted but we are there to work for the people,” said VP Mujuru.

After 34 years misrule and the national economy now in terminal decline the regime is finally acknowledging that the economy is in trouble. But instead of blaming themselves for the economic mess the regime, true to its nature, is picking on others; this time it is the Zimbabweans in the diaspora.

She wants all Zimbabweans who have left the country to return back home. “I hope our children in the Diaspora will hear this message that they must not forget that Zimbabwe will always be Zimbabwe, it will always be home that we should always work to build. They must come and work to build the country,” she argued.

Whilst it is true that many Zimbabweans have left the country it should be stated that it was the economic collapsed, amongst other things that forced them to leave. If the economic prospect were to improved many Zimbabweans would happily return but not whilst the economy remains in the doldrums with everything sign of getting worse.

It is not the shortage of skilled manpower that is behind Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown. With unemployment seating at a nauseating 85% plus there is no doubt there will be unemployed/under employed skilled individual still in Zimbabwe across the entire skills spectrum.

The only other reason why the regime is now obsessed about getting the diasporans back is the regime’s hope that the returnees will bring back sacks of cash to fill the ZimAsset begging bowl and fill the gaping hole left by foreign investors who have shied away from the country because of its ridiculous indigenisation laws.
Even if there were any Zimbabweans with money to invest, many people have been sending money back home to help their relative staying alive when they should have been saving; they will know that until the main causes of the country’s economic meltdown are addressed no business will ever succeed in Zimbabwe.

The root causes of Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown are the corruption and looting on the one hand and the failure to restore confidence in the donor and investors alike that Zimbabwe will uphold property rights and rule of law. The regime has failed to address any of the two problems because neither could be solved without dismantling the party’ political patronage system.

Mugabe has been flouting his wealth by holding $1 million birthday party, $ 5 million wedding for a daughter held in his $20 million columned hall Blue Roof mansion. Mai Mujuru reportedly has a fortune worth $ 3 billion. All these fortunes were made from corruption and looting, of course. How can Mugabe or Mujuru tell anyone else to stop corruption when all they will be doing is playing catch-up with them!

Here is a woman who has waited for decades to be president and whose heart and mind is now set for nothing else. The very idea that her assuming the office of the presidency is contingent on her being the most competent candidate to get the nation out of this economic and political mess and that it is the people of Zimbabwe who must decide that in a free, fair and credible elections is completely alien to her. Well alien or not the economic meltdown will continue until the country holds fresh free elections.

If Mai Mujuru is banking of millions of diaspora returnees bring sack loads of cash to bail this Zanu PF dictatorship then that is one dream that will never come to pass.

Conclusion

As long as Zanu PF remains in power the economic meltdown will only get worse. The party rigged the 2013 elections to retain power but unless the party can rig economic recovery too then they cannot stay in power.

Zanu PF must regime now so than an interim administration can be appointed to implement the democratic reforms in preparation for fresh free, fair and credible elections. That is the only way out of this mess!

Tourism Minister Walter Mzembi, has revealed plans to bring the FIFA World Cup to Zimbabwe in 2034.
These Zanu PF idiots live in their own world of make believe world and 34 years of absolute power have has made them big headed they now think there is absolutely nothing they cannot do! The regime cannot pay its civil servants; how is it going to pay for such a major project?
Even if FIFA had the money to pay for everything, they will have to be really stupid to trust this Zanu PF regime with a penny of that money!

The important information to be gleaned from Mzembe’s statement is that here is a regime that has been forced to accept that the economy is doing badly but it has not yet dawned on them that they are the ones responsible for it much less that they will have to go!

Mugabe and his minister can continue dreaming of how they are going to fleece the nation and FIFA we have a job to do. We must force this tyrannical regime to resign as soon as possible or this country is going to the dogs!

Yes, Walter go on and prepare the 2034 FIFA World Cup bid, you are without doubt the “best minister” Mugabe has ever had!

@ Blackhammer

I agreed with everything you said until you talked on Tsvangirai has not set a foot wrong!

If the idiot had implemented the democratic reforms, he had five years to do it but failed to have even one reform implemented, then the nation would not be in this mess! The reforms were our "get out of jail" card and the idiot failed to use it. How can you then say he did nothing wrong?

It is disappointing that so many Zimbabwe still fail to get their heads round the importance of the reforms even now with the benefit of hindsight. If people cannot understand this grade one stuff how will they ever understand the more complex stuff!? It is no wonder the nation is in such a mess but worse still is hopeless stuck!

Blackhammer! I would say be careful how you wield it, given you shallow understanding, you are likely to smash yourself and those near you by doing something stupid like voting for a breathtakingly incompetent idiot like Tsvangirai AGAIN!

@Wethu

I agree that both Mbeki and Zuma could and should have done a better job of pushing for democratic change in Zimbabwe; they did not. Does that mean that SA has forfeited its right as a nation to say who can and cannot come and work in the country? Of course it does not and to even suggest that is out of the question.

What makes our position even worse as a nation is that even with the blundering by Mbeki and Zuma we still had the tramp "get out of jail" card if MDC implemented the democratic reforms. To be fair to Zuma, he did push MDC hard to implement the reforms and then not to accept elections without the reforms but Tsvangirai paid no heed.

You cannot blame anyone else other than Tsvangirai for having failed to play the tramp card when they had the chance!

We, the Zimbabwean people, are to blame for our failure to appreciate the importance of the reforms and making sure that MDC implemented them. We did what we have always done all these years; follow blindly like sheep to the slaughter!

The wasted chance to change the system of government that we had throughout the GNU years will come again – Mugabe has just scored an own goal by failing to do something to end the rampant corruption and thus the economic meltdown will bring his regime down, guaranteed – I hope to God Zimbabweans will be smart enough to enough the Zanu PF dictatorship is disman-tled this time.

When people like you are wittering about the speck in the South Africans’ eyes but fail to see the log in Zimbabweans’ eyes; it shows that you have learnt nothing from Tsvangirai’s blundering incompetence! If you have learnt nothing then you will miss the next chance to end the Zanu PF dictatorship.

Council workers in Chitungwiza have gone on strike over unpaid wages. They have not been paid for 13 months!

This is crisis management at its worse! How is it possible that workers can go unpaid for 13 months!

So for months on end rubbish is not being collected, those employed to collect the rubbish collectors are still in the books but have not been paid for 13 months.

For years the council has failed to supply water, those employed to repair the water mains are still in the books but have not been paid for 13 months. The same with the roads and all the other services; none of the services are being delivered, the workers are still in the books but they are not being paid.

I feel for the ratepayers, most of whom are unemployment and are surviving as best as they can on kiya kiya - kupona nehwakumukwaku seguguvo. They have been getting bills for none existent services and have paid as best as they can. Now they learn that all the collected rates were being pocketed by a few fat cats. The council has a mountain of unpaid wages and before service can be restored all collected revenue will have to go towards clearing of this mountain of debt first.

What a chaotic way to run a Council and it is shocking that this state of affairs has been going on for donkey years. It is not just Chitugwiza Council's affairs that are is disarray the rot is found in every Council, parastatal, school, hospital right up to every government department.

What a way to run a council! What a way to a country!

Zimbabwe has now become the prime example of what the white supremacist meant by "blacks are incapable of self-rule"! For the sake of the long suffering people of Zimbabwe we must put our heads together and end this Zanu PF madness! It is pathetic that we have allowed this charade to go on for 34 years! 34 bloody years of gross mismanagement and rampant corruption! Enough is enough!

Mujuru has a daughter in Spain who is the conduit of her and the late husband's looted wealth, especial the gold from Zaire! She should have billions of dollars in the bank and a chest or two of diamonds and jewels. Somehow I do not think her call for Zimbabweans to return was ever meant for her daughter or any of the ruling elite's children and relatives!

If any of these were to return then like Mugabe’s Bona Nyapudzai, they will be expecting a Mazowe farm, a very well-paying job like Cuthbert Dube’s, etc.; and these, as we all know, are very hard to come by these days.

Some of these chefs’ relative would rather go to Brazil for the World Cup then visit Zimbabwe, let alone come back to live there. Remember that we are dealing here with some of the world’s most pretentious spoilt brats; like Grace Mugabe who talks as if she has worn Italian designer shoes and nothing else all her life! Yavo miromo haidyi maputi!

The very thought of a day in a house with no running water and electricity in unthinkable for these spoilt brats. Their chef relatives have landed the nation in this hell-hole and they have been the beneficiaries of the looting but they do not have the slightest inclination to give up even a fraction of the looted wealth to help the millions now living in abject poverty because of the looting. None!

@ Kitsiyatota

This is a dictatorship that has enjoyed absolute power for 34 years and it is doing what dictator-ships know best – dictate. Mugabe dictated to the rest of the cabinet that the root cause of Zim-babwe’s economic meltdown was the “illegal sanctions imposed by the imperialist West”! And for the last 15 years that was the official line and the regime would not listen to anything else.

Even Tsvangirai and his MDC, after they had received their bribe – vhara muromo - were telling the whole world lift the sanction.

The regime denied that corruption was the major cause of the economic meltdown and even denied that there was corruption. And so instead of uprooting it the regime allowed corruption to thrive to the cancerous tumour the size of a tennis ball it is today. It is the one killing the national economy and it must be removed now!

Instead of dealing with the rampant corruption the Zanu PF Politburo in its infinite wisdom has now come up with yet another excuse for the country’s economic meltdown the millions of Zim-babweans who have left the country to escape the economic meltdown and political repression.

70%, at the very least, of the Zimbabweans in the diaspora left the country in the last ten years. So if was their presence that is required to build the nation and make it prospers, then why did that not happen all the years they were in Zimbabwe?

Zanu PF is nothing more than the big bad wolf upstream accusing the lamb downstream of foul-ing the water he is drinking!

The economic meltdown is real and the causes are clear; the nation has men and women com-petent to deal with these problems. The only reason these problems have not been dealt with is because Mugabe and his Zanu PF cronies. They have failed to deal with the problems but will not let anyone else deal with them because they believe they alone have the right to rule the nation.

Corruption is the cancer behind the economic meltdown; for years the resident doctor will not allow the patient to start taking the cancer medicine because he says it is not cancer and it would damage his reputation to admit he was wrong. And so the poor patient is now in ICU and still the resident doctor insist it is not cancer and continue pumping the patient with pain killers, malaria tablets, etc.!

Ladies and gentlemen to get to the patient and the cancer we must get rid of the resident doctor; as long as he has final say here the patient will die. We can either save the patient or save the resident doctor’s reputation and ego but not both!
