MDC to boycott elections after another by-election trouncing but to what end!

A Zanu PF candidate has won the Chitungwiza council by-election trouncing the MDC-T candidate 993 to 91.

In August 2014, following a string of similar trouncing, MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai said his party would no longer take part in any by-election in the country due its skewed electoral systems.

So it had taken MDC until August 2014 to finally realise that Zimbabwe's electoral system is "skewed"? Everybody else had seen this a long time ago; the democratic reforms agreed during the GPA in 2008 were meant to address this very problem. MDC had five years during the GNU to implement the reforms and failed to get even one reform implemented. Not one!

"We are maintaining the position that we are not going to participate in any by election until the electoral reforms are done and one of those reforms is that we want a voters' roll," said MDC-T spokesman Douglas Mwonzora.

Now MDC tells the nation the party will not take part in future elections unless the electoral system is reformed; Tsvangirai does not say how the system will be reformed because he does not have a clue how that can be done now that the chance to do so has been lost!

Zimbabwe's best chance to end this Zanu PF dictatorship was during the GNU and the chance was wasted because of MDC's breath-taking incompetence. Now the nation is paying dearly for the folly of electing MDC. Anyone who follows MDC after this only shows that they are incapable of learning from the past mistake!
Boycotting elections will not achieve anything because there will always be some other opposition party who will be only be too glad to get the scraps Zanu PF give them.

The vote is the only weapon in the ordinary person’s armoury with which to fight off those who are hell bend on denying him or her their democratic right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country and how its wealth and riches are shared out. The Zimbabwean voters have been denied a meaningful vote by this Zanu PF regime for all these 34 years; sometimes because the regime devised at sophisticated vote rigging scheme the ordinary villager could not counter, as happened last year. But when the voters through voter apathy chose not to vote; that is the waste case of the voter shooting themselves in the foot because no one in their right mind would give up their only weapon and let the thugs run riot.

An MDC boycott will result in increased voter apathy but the electorate must know they are as much to blame for this as the incompetent MDC leaders who created this problem by their failure to implement the reform because it was the voters themselves who elected these incompetent MDC leaders. The single import thing here is for the electorate to learn from their folly of following blindly. What better way to prove that they have indeed learnt the lesson than by refusing to follow MDC down this dead end of boycotting elections.

The people must show they are more determined than ever to have a meaningful vote and will cast a spoilt vote rather than not vote at all! This will make Zanu PF work even harder than ever to rig future elections. Cheating Tsvangirai and his wildebeest herd of followers who hardly know their left hand from their right is easy as we have seen. Cheating a savvy electorate who know the true value of their vote and are therefore more determined than ever that their vote will count – even as a spoilt vote – is a totally different kettle of fish!

Zimbabwe is in this political and economic mess because the people, the electorate, have been naïve and gullible to elect Mugabe, a corrupt and murderous tyrant, and then Tsvangirai, a blundering and incompetent idiot. What the nation needs to get out of the mess is a savvy electorate; smart enough to elect leaders with some common sense at least; smart enough never to give up their vote, their only means to ensure they have a meaningful say in the governance of the country!

Tsvangirai’s call to boycott elections until the “skewed” electoral system is put right without offering any solution how that is going to be done is a call for voter apathy – the worst thing the country should be doing! MDC should have implemented the reforms to ensure the electoral system was not skewed but having failed to do so the party is blundering around making a bad situation even worse. Boycott to what end and purpose? Voter apathy will not get us out of this hell-hole but smart thinking will!

@Thinkingsimple

Afikkan is only pointing out that people like Nick are hypocrites; which is a fact! Of course Afrikkan is bitter because he knows millions of Zimbabweans are living in abject poverty and here is someone who is saying that is not true just because the tyrannical regime in Zimbabwe gave him a farm or whatever!

You would be bitter too if you understood what is going on; unless you too are one of those who have benefited from the corruption and loot in Zimbabwe.

It does not take much to corrupt the moral compass of some people as we have seen at the recent Zanu PF Youth and Women League conferences, a piece of meat had them all sing Mugabe's praises! They went to the conference to press Mugabe about unemployment and growing poverty but forgot all that the minute Mugabe promised them meat. Who cares about being unemployed or the family going hungry for the rest of the year if there is a piece of meat to be had!

Selling out one's fellow countrymen to a corrupt and murderous regime is not a job it is a serious crime. It is our willingness to accept these CIO rigging elections for Mugabe and murdering his opponents that has encourage them to carry on pretending it is a "job".

Any CIO who has shed human blood will face justice!

"Nobody will remove me from the farm which I took. Blood will be spilt if anyone attempts to re-move me from that farm . . . I took that farm personally because even after I told ministers and government officials that I wanted a farm, they did not allocate me land and instead told me they thought I was joking," said Grace Mugabe.

Yes Mum but you did not stop at the Mazoe farm for the orphanage did you? You went on to grab more farms for yourself, you son Russell, your daughter Bona, to build the palatial Blue Roof, hold $1 and $5 million birthday and wedding parties respectively, etc., etc.

Madam the Zimbabwe economy is in total meltdown and as long as Mugabe and Zanu PF remain in office there is no hope of things getting better. Mugabe and Zanu PF are going that is now certain and the nation will have regime change.

You and many other Zanu PF loyalists are guilt of corruption and looting, you have all become filthy rich at the expense of the millions who have been forced into a life of abject poverty. Natural justice demands that all the wealth and resources accumulated through corruption and looting must be recovered and used for the good of all, especially those now living in poverty.

If you really think you can hold this nation to ransom with your empty and stupid threats of spilling more innocent blood then you are hopelessly mistaken. Not everyone is as stupid as those MDC idiots your husband managed to threaten and bamboozle during the GNU years!

The grand coalition of MDC-Renewal, MDC Ncube, Sima Makoni’s Mavambo and Dumiso Dabengwa’ Zapu is in the offering.

People like Simba Makoni and Dumiso Dabengwa were part and parcel of this Zanu PF juggernaut that has ridden roughshod over the ordinary man and woman's dreams of freedom, human rights and economic prosperity for decades and they have said nothing all these years. As long as they benefited from the sys-tem is was ok.
Similarly people like Welshman Ncube and Tendai Biti were part and parcel of the MDC outfit that failed to implement even one democratic reform although they were in power for five years.

These gentlemen's past performance shows they are not just incompetent but that they willingly betrayal the people and the very core human values of freedom, justice and human rights. Only someone who has failed to grasp the enormity of their failure would think this can ever be dismissed as if nothing happened. These gentlemen have already shown that they are not fit to be trusted and to hold public office!

Zimbabwe has 12 million people; I refuse to accept the erroneous notion that only the same tried and failed leaders of yesteryear are the only ones the nation has to rule the country!

Grace Mugabe complain that no one is buying her yoghurt.

"I manufacture yoghurt but no one buys it," Grace Mugabe told supporters at a rally in the capital Harare. "You can't even find a person who can buy a packet of milk.

How many of the 45 000 who attend the rally went back home to the reality of no running clean water, very little food in the house, etc. As long as Zanu PF remains in office the economic situation will get worse not better.

When Mugabe gave the Zanu PF Youth League members a piece of meat, they forgot many of them have been out of work for donkey years. It is amazing what a piece of meat can do!

62% of Zimbabweans are poor and 16% or 2 million are living in abject poverty according to a UNICEF. Let us assume none of the 45 000 are poor much less are living in abject poverty. When they too have gone to bed in an empty stomach may be then; they would think what exactly will Grace do to improve their lot? Empty slogans do not fill an empty stomach!

Shadreck Mashayamombe infuriated the Mugabes in August this year when he allegedly asked President Mugabe's nephew Patrick Zhuwao to find a "political home" for the first lady, outside the capital. It was pay-back time!

"Mashayamombe, ndiri mai vako; Mashayamombe Baba Mugabe ndibaba vako (I am your mother and President Mugabe is your father," she said to loud cheers from party supporters who packed the City Sports Centre to the rafters.

"Whether things said about you are true or even false, you are still a human being capa-ble of erring. I have asked you to come to the front so that l can tell everyone, l forgive you."

I have heard of gun-marriage but this takes the biscuit this is forgiveness, ultimate humiliation and the devil’s curse all rolled into one. This is one forgiveness Mashayamombe never asked for but was forced to take at gun-point Zanu PF style!

“First Lady pane mamwe mafirst lady, ungatoti vakavhoterwa vangatoita President. (She is a First Lady among first ladies, if she is voted, she can easily become president.) She is a real war veteran.” Said Oppah Muchinguri at the Harare rally.

This is becoming like Animal Farm in which the goal post are being change to suit those in power. So now Grace is being proposed to succeed Mugabe because of the factional fighting in the party regardless of her not having fought in the war of independence until now that was a pre-requisite!

The collapse of Zanu PF was always on the cards because what has held the party together this far was the jobs, contracts, farms and other wealth and resources which Mugabe was dishing out to buy loyalty. As the economy started to struggle and the number of farms - there was a finite number available - Mugabe has found himself with less to give out and loyalty to him decreased.

It was just a matter of time before this happened; that hour is now upon us and we should not be surprised that things are falling apart!

“During elections time we made promises and if we are to be people who fail to deliver on the promises, it will be a challenge in the next elections.

“Don’t take the people for granted, ask me, I will tell you that don’t take people for granted,” said Grace Mugabe.

Grace is stupid but even she is not that stupid; she knows that Zanu PF rigged the elections. What she will not even begin to understand is the depth and complexity of Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown. Whilst Zanu PF has never delivered any of its promises the party has nonetheless so far managed to bluff its way out one way or the other. The cur-rent economic meltdown is so serious the regime will not be able to bluff its way out, not this time!

@ Bvunzawabaya
A fresh start! You will get a new face but not a fresh start, the economy will go nowhere under her. Any Zanu PF leader will only be too keen to maintain the status quo, the corruption and bloated institutions and worst of all the party's undemocratic controls of every facade of society to consolidate their own power. Grace will do the same. How can there be any meaningful economic recovery under those conditions.

You optimism for things to get better is based on hope against hope and not reason or facts!

"Party members must focus on fulfilling election promises and implementing the ZIMAS-SET economic blueprint," Grace Mugabe said in Masvingo.

Will someone please tell her that ZimAsset is dead and so too is all hope of the economic recovery! Her husband failed to get any funding for it, not even the Chinese would donate anything in the ZimAsset begging bowl!

The First Lady threatened unspecified people, warning they should not play with fire lest they got burnt.
“You only realise after something has befallen you and others say you brought this upon your-self,” she added.

Grace saved her strident attack for those angling to succeed her husband.

“Most people were being spoon-fed by my husband. He worked for them, yet today you hear them saying they want to rule the country. Are you able to rule? Leave us alone, you are revolt-ing, you are not able to rule the country.”

The only people qualified to make the final decision on who should rule Zimbabwe are the people of Zimbabwe in free, fair and credible elections. All the democratic reforms will be implemented before the next elections to guarantee free, fair and credible elections, the first one in the nation’s history and the first of many to follow.

Regime change that Zanu PF has resisted all these years is now upon us and we are not to be denied – not this time, not ever!

Over 30 000 innocent Zimbabweans have lost their lives for Zanu PF selfish political gain. This is an open wound, unfinished business this nation must attend to and will. If Grace thinks she too can secure her hold on power by shedding fresh blood then she is very much mistaken. If she thinks this nation will be cowed down by threats or murders, again she is very much mistaken.

DEPUTY Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Tabitha Kanengoni Malinga on Friday challenged UN agencies in Harare to "push for the removal of sanctions because they are hindering us" from achieving the Millennium Development Goals.

She is forgetting that the same UN agents witnessed the blatant vote rigging and they are aware of the rampant corruption, they people are not the stupid war vets would are easily hoodwinked. The economic meltdown is not as stupid as the war vets either and it will get worse until this regime face up to the truth that it has failed and step down!

Our stupid Minister is in denial of the rampant corruption as the root cause of the economic collapse as she is in denial of the blatant vote rigging but she will come round. The economic meltdown will get worse until she does!
