Coltart says MDC "embrass ourselves" by running to SADC - the only voice of reason!

“It is not worthwhile to be running to SADC all the time,” Senator David Coltart admitted. “The irony of it is that when we take our problems to them we attract criticism and embarrass ourselves.”

The Senator was warning his MDC friends on the eve of the SADC meeting after they had raised a Sahara dust storm about Mugabe naming the election date and slamming the door shut to all the nonsense about implementing reforms.

SADC leaders know the reforms were not implemented for all last five years because of MDC’s incompetence and they have said so.

I used to hold Senator David Coltart in high regard until he joined MDC. Since then, he has said and done some really stupid things. It was to be expected given the army-ants of mediocre leaders in MDC. Join a crab dance and you too will be covered in mad.

I am pleased to note that he has had the courage to stand up and tell his MDC friends they are an embarrassment.

If only he had had the guts to do so before the Copac constitution was passed; the nation could have been saved from the nightmare of another bloody election process who outcome in a matter of indifference! Yes even Senator Coltart got too comfortable in government and forgot they were supposed to deliver free and fair elections!

Most of the usual Western donors had kept their hands in their pockets and would not bank-roll this fraudulent electoral process in which the ordinary Zimbabweans are set to be once again short changed and denied the most fundamental right to a meaningful say in the gov-ernance of the country. Now the UN has too said no.

UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon’s spokesperson, Martin Nesirky on Thursday said the world body had backed off after Zimbabwe would not agree to UN demands for a trans-parent election process.

“That’s the reason why the UN does not plan any UN electoral assistance because there was no agreement on the conduct of a standard UN needs assessment,” said the UN statement.

Let’s hope SADC will too finally take the hind!

@ Batanai

Cameron and Obama are not dictators like Mugabe whose will alone rule the land!

Mugabe may have duped Tsvangirai and MDC into doing nothing about implementing the reforms. Thank God, not every Zimbabwean was equally duped; we are not after all a nation of incompetent and indecisive people. Mugabe still has an impossible task to sell this election as legitimate when everyone can see it is not! So I would not count the chickens before the eggs have hatched, if I was you!

“The entire intention behind the Global Political Agreement was to resolve the 2008 crisis. If they realize that we are likely to go back to the same crisis, it is unlikely that they are going to be supportive of what is going on,” Coltart told reporters in Bulawayo yesterday.

The root cause of the crisis is the failure by MDC to implement the democratic reforms and the only reason that has happened is MDC's incompetence.

If President Zuma and SADC are serious about stopping a repeat of the wanton violence of 2008 then they should call some other body to implement the reforms and not these GNU clowns. Even if the elections were delayed by five weeks or five months MDC will never get any meaningful implemented, they do not the foggiest idea what is required here!
