EU to ease sanction against Mugabe because "Zimbabwe is moving". Yes, but in what direction?

The EU says it will lift some of the sanction but Mugabe and his wife will remain on sanctions.

"It does seem a time to move forward and the sense is that Zimbabwe is moving ... We need to respond," EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said in the European Parliament on Tuesday in response to a question about easing sanctions.

Yes Zimbabwe is "moving" but in what direction? If Mugabe resisted implementing democratic reforms during the GNU there is no chance of him implementing them now! The tyrant is busy beefing up the security sector, particularly the CIO for whom he is building a $200 million Spy University. Mugabe is moving full steam ahead in turning Zimbabwe into a North Korea type Police State!

The blatant vote rigging of the elections and now all these breaking stories of corruption and looting at a grant scale are proof of what kind of regime we are dealing with here. The EU is letting itself being misled by a few individual nations whose moral compass, history has shown us, only works when they are in Europe. When it comes to dealing with Africa it is their selfish greed that takes over; the moral compass points South!

Nonsense, the Belgians whose moral compass only work in Europe did not have any problem understanding the what evil tyrants can bring when the Nazi waltzed into their country!

I think we in Africa need to ensure that that nations like Israel, Belgium, China, etc. who think they can prop up tyrants like Mugabe at the expense of the ordinary people must know that we are acutely aware of their double standards and that there is going to be a price to be paid for it!

If Mai Mujuru and the entire Zanu PF leadership are indeed committed to ridding the country of corruption, as Rugare Gumbo is now telling us. Then she should explain to the nation where she got her $ 3 billion fortune? As for the party, who amongst them does not know that the July 2013 elections were rigged?

If we are going to tackle corruption then rigging elections has to be the first thing. Corruption and looting has become rampant precisely because these politicians were above the law for all these years. No one, absolutely no one has able to hold them to account.

By rigging the July 2013 elections Mugabe and Zanu PF imposed themselves on the nation, just as they have done for the last 33 years. Now there is overwhelming evidence of corruption and looting by none but Mugabe and his Zanu PF imposters themselves, they want to dictate the solution and we the people, the victims of the political repression and corruption, are once again to be left out of it.

No we want to address the nation's economic problems properly this time and find a real solution and not fudge it. And to do that we must address the political problem that has put those in power above the law and above the democratic process.

Mugabe and Zanu PF rigged the July 2013 elections they have neither the legitimacy nor authority to govern the nation. They must step down now and stop wasting the nation's time.

You lot have been denying there was no corruption and looting in Zimbabwe and blamed the economic melt-down on sanctions. The stories of not just corruption and looting but rampant corruption and looting are coming out thick and fast.

Just how did you expect ZESA or Harare City Council, for example to ensure there was electricity and water supplies to the individual and industries when all the money paid by the consumers and rate-payers went straight into the pockets of the filthy rich few.

Mugabe has rigged elections again and again so that he and his cronies can continue to loot. He has got away with vote rigging in the past, he is not going to get away with it this time.

Mugabe is illegitimate and he must go. And go he will! If the Belgians think as the Israelis that the quickest way to getting Zimbabwe's Marange diamonds is by propping up this murderous tyrant then they are in for a big surprise!

It is clear that you are not one of those "honest person" who would not deny the truth!

No one has denied the "existence" of the sanctions; indeed I will go further and say they must stay.

As for the sanctions being "illegitimate" that is nonsense. The Western governments have every right to say who they will do business with and who they will not. Mugabe has threatened to retaliate, why does he?

It was not the sanctions that have had a "devastating impact" on the Zimbabwe economy but the rampant corruption and looting which you idiots have denied all these years. How do you expect the economy to prosper with all this corruption and looting going on? Answer that!

Mugabe has stubbornly refused to release the voters roll because we all know that is the smoking gun to the rigged elections. The July 2013 elections were not free and fair and we need to remove these imposters and legitimate government.

You can witter (after all you CIO agents are paid to do so) all you like about the sanction causing the economic melt-down but the truth is it was the mismanagement, corruption and looting that has done that!

Well is the issue of the rigged elections was "closed" then why are we talking about it now? Why have the Western country refused to recognise Mugabe's election victory and confidence in the stability of the country restored?

Mugabe rigged the elections it is not for him to say when the subject is closed but us, the people of Zimbabwe, whom he blatantly cheated by rigging the elections.

I am one of those people and I say the subject is not closed! Mugabe has acknowledged that he rigged the elections and steps down! But even then it will not be closed because the nation must learn from this!

A sorry looking group of Zanu PF operative staged a demo at food aid distribution officiated by the US Ambassador.

"Go away with your food. We do not want sanctions." read one of the posters.

It is ease for the Zanu PF operatives to say that but not for the ordinary Zimbabweans.

Go are the days when Zanu PF youth and women's league members were a force to be reckoned with. The days when Shuva Mahofa and Joyce Mujuru used to lead the women from the front wearing matching dresses and head gear with photographic prints of the great leader, Robert Gabriel Mugabe. The 34 years of mismanagement, corruption and looting have supped the energy all the energy and passion.

And so now all the party can muster is a handful of individuals for a token demo! The two demonstrators in the photo were so ashamed they were hiding their faces! The party is broke after the elections, it has even disbanded its hire-a-crowd schemes!

Well, well! Mugabe's reign is over! Chisingaperi chinoshura, musoro wegudo chavachinokoro!

@ Informer

You are a lot more generous, I would say Mugabe needs the West because they are a lot more generous than the tight-a**** Chinese. The tyrant was lambasting the Chinese at the Zanu PF Congress in December last year about how they had kept him waiting but nothing has ever come out of his "Look East" policy. The Chinese have benefited from the generous deals the tyrant signed with them but have given nothing back!

You should read the article about how the Chinese are still "considering" giving the ZimAsset bail out the country is desperate for. They must be after another give-away deal from Mugabe; as soon as the tyrant signs it suddenly its back to "Me speak no English!"

The Chinese Communist Party is ruthlessly oppressive to its own people and Mugabe thinks it will treat him any better! Well the Zanu PF regime is on its last legs, he will not have long to wait now. He will be kicked out of state and can wait for the Chinese to visit him at Chikurumbi!
