The root of Zimbabwe's lawlessness is that Zanu PF is an illegitimate government!

The Zimbabwe Social Democrats condemn the fragrant disregard of the law and all human decency as shown by Grace Mugabe in secretly recording VP Mujuru in her own home and bedroom. This is happening because there is no rule of law governed by an illegitimate regime.

There is no doubt that last year’s elections were rigged and it is now nearly two years since the day this regime was legally obliged to release the voters roll, the smoking gun to the rigged elections, but still it has not done so. There is conclusive evidence to show Mugabe and Zanu PF rigged the 2002 and 2008 elections.

In a report that the SA government has refuse to realise for the last six year but which the Mail and Guardian has final forced the President Zuma’s regime to handover. High Court Judges Dikgang Moseneke and Sisi Khampepe concluded that Zimbabwe’s 2002 elections were NOT free and fair.

All the foreign election observers of Zimbabwe’s 2008 elections condemn the wanton violence Mugabe and Zanu PF visited upon the people of Zimbabwe and all agreed that the elections were not free and fair.

Last year’s elections were marred by the blatant vote rigging in the form of bussed in voters, the deliberate posting of voters names in different constituency than the voters expected and the refusal by the regime to realise the voters rolls so the world could not uncover the truth, etc. The AU observer mission dwelt on the elections being free of violence as if that was the only requirement for free, fair and credible elections and thus concluded the elections were “reasonably” free. Countries like USA and others condemned the elections and refused to accept the results as a true reflection of the democratic will of the people of Zimbabwe.

We in the Zimbabwe Social Democrats are determined to see a full judiciary inquiry is set up as soon as possible to investigate the truth behind Zimbabwe’s rigged 2013 elections.

The root cause of Zimbabwe’s seemingly intractable political and economic problems is the nation’s failure to produce a legitimate government with the electoral mandate to address the nation’s chronic problems like mismanagement and corruption. A legitimate government that can command international respect and donors and would-be investors can trust to uphold the rule of law.

Zimbabwe has been a rogue state shunned and despised by all because it has become a lawless nation ruled by the whims of a dictator and tyrant. We must restore the rule of law in Zimbabwe and the legitimacy of those who govern it; there is nothing that can ever be accomplished until this is done.

Rigging elections is treason and all those found guilty of committing this heinous crime must and will be punished. This is the message that must be sent out across the land loud and clear from those in the palatial Blue Roof to those in the pole and mud huts in Zimbabwe’s rural backwaters!

The root cause of Zimbabwe’s lawlessness is the illegitimacy of this Zanu PF regime. The only way to restore the rule of law is by restoring the legitimacy of the government which is only done by holding free, fair and credible elections!

I agree with you that the nation has cause to look at this on-going savage dog-eat-dog Zanu PF in fighting with hope. The hope that both dogs will be dead at the end or that the surviving dog will be considerably weaker to allow the nation to push through lasting democratic changes. I do not agree with you on the following two points:

1) That Grace Mugabe should be credited with destroying Zanu PF and that the monster could only have been destroyed from within, as Professor Moyo said. Zanu PF was doomed to collapse the day Mugabe and his cronies decided to make it a one-party dictatorship by stifling debate and competition from outside and within the party. The move has guaranteed the tyrant and his cronies absolute power and over three decades in power, yes; but it also sowed the mismanagement and corruption, the seeds of its own down fall.

Three decades of this relentless and criminal waste of human and material resources has taken its toll on the national economy. 72% of Zimbabweans are now poor with 16% or 2 million of them living in abject poverty. Mugabe has tried his best to assure his cronies that for them at least, it will be business as usual but in the end they too have suffered the consequences of the economic meltdown.

The late Nathan Shamuyarira and Enos Nkala, Zanu PF party grandees, both lived the last years of their lives in abject poverty and died paupers. Many Zanu PF cronies are living is abject poverty already and the number is set to rise.

What triggered this dog-eat-dog fight for power in Zanu PF was not the entry of Grace Mugabe into politics. It is the economic meltdown; this is a scramble for power because those without it will be living in abject poverty. Grace was more like opportunistic the common flue that finished off an HIV/AIDS patient!

Whichever faction wins this faction war, it will in turn meet its Waterloo from the economic meltdown. Zanu PF does not have clue as what to do to put the national economy back on track. Not a clue!

Mangoma called on Mugabe to apologise for murdering people during the Gukurahundi and Operation Murambatsvina.

Tsvangirai was also urged to apologise for what Mangoma called failure to deliver real change.

Yes Mr Mangoma, but what about you; when are you going to apologise to the nation for sitting on your backside for five years and doing nothing about implementing the reforms?

@Nylon

I think you are the one who is the wishful thinker here! Do you want us to believe that Mugabe has al-lowed the national economy sink into these great depths where 90% plus are out of work, 16% or 2 million now live in abject poverty, etc. if he really knew what he was doing.

What good will it do Mugabe firing someone like Mai Mujuru who has sat there all these years doing nothing other than loot. There is hardly anything left for her to loot so this is bolting the stable door after the horse has bolted. What Mugabe should fire is the idiot who has come up with all these stupid economic policy like the indigenisation law. We all know who the idiot is - R G Mugabe!

This clean-up will achieve nothing my friend other than reduce the size of the bloated ruling elite. It will take more than reducing the size of the ruling elite to put the national economy back on track.

PRESIDENT Robert Mugabe’s wife Grace has sensationally claimed that Vice-President Joice Mujuru plans to humiliate her, “Gaddafi-style”, once her husband is no longer in office.

“I supported her elevation to the presidency and this is how she has sought to repay me,” confessed Grace. You more than supported her, Madam, you rigged the system in Mujuru’s favour.

Whilst Grace is savagely attacking and tearing VP Mujuru to pieces and parading her victim in a mini-skirt; Grace is blissfully unaware that she is herself being watched. Her total disregard for fair play and contempt for the law and human decency in her blind determination to destroy Mai Mujuru, the same sav-agery will be used to destroy her!

There is no doubt that Mnangagwa went out of his way to make sure Grace got to hear about what Mai Mujuru had in store for her, it would not be above him to spice up the stories, knowing Grace would go into an uncontrollable rage. She has swallowed the bait, hook, sinker and line and it is Mnangagwa, the man she cheated ten years ago and has impatiently waited to have his revenge, who is holding the end of the line!

Grace will learn that crocodiles have a wonderful memory and they are ruthless savages, especially when they have cause to be! Crocos are known to go as much a kilometre inland, tracking down the thief who pillaged their egg nest.

@ Giribheti

The way Grace keeps reminding Mnangagwa that it was her doing he lost to Mujuru ten years ago is like a baboon boosted to the crocodile that the best meal he has ever eaten was freshly laid crocodile eggs! What does this baboon want from the crocodile, a medal for his good taste! She will get the medal the day Mugabe dies, right up her a****!

"The new party, the politburo member said will be made official “very soon” and is also built on the ethos of the country’s founding war commanders and military veterans such as, Mujuru’s late husband, General Solomon Mujuru," a source told The Telescope.

That is some sick joke, who in Zanu PF alive today know even one of those founding ethos? Here are individuals who have ridden rough shod over the ordinary people's freedoms and human rights for the last 34 years but now that they have been kicked off the gravy train think they can just take up where they left off in 1980. They can once again claim they care about freedom and liberty and the people will once again believe them!

It is little wonder that the Mujuru faction was licked and failed to hit back even once; the whole faction is composed of some of the most unbelievably incompetent and naïve individuals, second only to Tsvangirai and his MDC friends.

Mai Mujuru and her followers had their chances to build a free and prosperous Zimbabwe, even better chances than Tsvangirai and his MDC friends, but squandered them all. They can launch their new party, no doubt they have the funding after all Mai Mujuru is a billionaire in her own right; the new party, like MDC, will never add up to much.

Mai Mujuru, Rugare Gumbo, Didymus Mutasa, etc. these are all individuals who have already proven that they are incompetent and corrupt tyrants. They can all take-off their Zanu PF gab with portraits of Mugabe, burn it and put on designer clothes from some of the world’s leading fashion houses; they will still be incompetent and corrupt tyrants.

MUGABE HAS PROMOTED WITHIN THE PARTY ZANU PF, IN ALL PUBLIC INSTITUTION LIKE THE ARMY, JUDICIARY, ETC. AND EVERY SECTOR OF ZIMBABWE SOCIETY INCLUDING THE WAR VET THOSE WILLING TO FURTHER HIS OWN SELFISH AGENDA OF A DE FACTO ZANU PF DICTATORSHIP WITH HIMSELF AS THE TOP DOG.

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT TO DESCRIBE WAR VET LEADERS LIKE JABULANI SIBAN-DA AS MUGABE'S "RUNNER DOGS" BECAUSE THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE - THEY HAVE TURNED ON INNOCENT PEOPLE AND HAVE BEEN DOING MUGABE'S DIRTY WORK WITHOUT EVER THINKING, JUST LIKE DOGS.

I AM DISAPPOINTED WITH THOSE PEOPLE WHO NOW SEE SIBANDA AS A HERO FOR RE-FUSING TO ACCEPT WHAT HE RIGHTLY CALLED "BEDROOM COUP". HELPING ONE OLD LADY CROSS THE STREET DOES NOT TURN A MURDERER INTO A SAINT!

@BaEbenezer

THERE ARE SOME FORMER FREEDOM FIGHTERS WHO HAVE NEVER APPROVED WHAT MUGABE HAS BEEN DOING BUT, SADLY, THEY HAVE BEEN SIDELINED AND THUS BE-CAME THE SILENT AND POWERLESS MAJORITY. ALL THEY HAVE DONE IS SHAKE THEIR HEADS IN TOTAL DISBELIEF AT HOW MUGABE AND HIS RUNNER-DOGS HAVE CORRUPT-ED ALL THEY HAVE HELD DEAR! IT IS HIGH TIME THAT THESE TRUE NATIONAL LIBERA-TION WAR HEROES RECLAIMED THE NAME AND VALUES OF THE WAR VETS.

BUT MORE SIGNIFICANTLY THE NATION NEEDS OTHERS TO TAKE THE BATON OF FREE-DOM, LIBERTY FROM THEM AND CONTINUE THE FIGHT AND NOT TO LOOK TO THEM AGAIN TO DO ALL THE FIGHTING FOR US ALL. THIS IS A RACE, THEY HAVE DONE THEIR BIT WE SHOULD STEP UP AND DO OUR BIT TOO. WE NEED FREEDOM FIGHTER WILLING TO TAKE ON MUGABE AND HIS RUNNER DOGS!

Police Commissioner Augustine Chihuru has resigned. He has been under increasing pressure to arrest VP Mujuru for corruption; he is a known Mujuru ally.

Once Mugabe has you on the cross-wires he will haunt you and will not stop until you and your supporters are dead. People like Chihuri and Mujuru should know this since they have been part and parcel of the regime for donkey years. They have turned the screw on others and little did they know some day they will be the ones being screwed. Well that day has arrived and they have nowhere to hide, run to and most important of all no one to blame but themselves for having been a part to the tyrannical repression all these years!

@ tangai Chipangura

Mujuru had the numbers game on her side, the number of provinces controlled by Mujuru until the 'no vote of confidence weeded them out would testify to that. If you have the numbers on your side then you will be wanting a free, fair and credible electoral system; this is where the Mujuru faction was caught napping, they have done nothing to ensure the electoral system was free and fair.

The country has just gone through an election process where everybody with any brain could see was blatantly rigged. How could people like Mujuru, Gumbo, Chihuri, etc. have failed to notice this when they actually played a part in the vote rigging themselves. They must have noted the vote rigging but were naive to think Mugabe and Mnangagwa would not dare play the same dirty tricks on them.

The Mujuru faction has two things in common with Tsvangirai and his MDC friends; both are naïve and incompetent. The later had the numbers on their side but failed to implement the reforms necessary for free, fair and credible elections. If the other side can use dirty tricks then they will always “win” regardless of whether they have the numbers on their side or not!

The out pouring of sympathy for Mai Mujuru and her faction by the Zimbabwe people is what has kept the nation this political and economic mess – the love and support for anyone Mugabe is after regardless. Mai Mujuru has become a serious alternative to Mugabe ever since the Zanu PF factional war started to heat up. The fact that until then she had been part and parcel of the tyrannical dictatorship and that all the donkey years she was in power she had done nothing other than loot. All these have been promptly and conveniently forgotten and forgiven. The electorate did the same thing with Tsvangirai who has since proven to be one of the most incompetent leaders in human history!

Any electorate that will not take the business of electing competent leaders will find itself being short changed time after time. There is no doubt that we have in Zanu PF and MDC the government and opposition we deserve!

Zimbabwe Light said...

I agree, if either Mujuru or Mnangagwa were to be president it would be bad for the country.

What the people of Zimbabwe must focus on and never take their eyes off that ball until the set objective is achieve is demand the full implementation of ALL the democratic reforms that MDC should have implemented during the GNU. Create the democratic environment and then let the demands of open debate and competition sort out the good grain from the chuff and the half rotten stuff!

Once the distraction of the Zanu PF is over the nation’s attention will switch back to the worsening economic nightmare. Whichever Zanu PF faction that emerges from this fight one thing is clear, it does not have a clue what to do to get the economy back on track. The electorate must demand the regime step aside as the way out of the economic crisis and demand the implementation of all the reforms. We must not let Zanu PF implement the reforms because they will never ever do a good job – they must step aside!

@ Nyimo

I agree that the SA government must hold its head in shame for trying to sweep this report under the carpet. I salute Mail and Guardian for not giving up on the report.

What is totally unacceptable is Tsvangirai's stupid attempt to shift the blame for Zimbabwe's rigged 2013 elections on SADC when it was he and his MDC friends who failed to implement the reforms necessary for free, fair and credible elections. SADC leaders like President Ian Khama of Botswana went out of their way push MDC and the people of Zimbabwe to ensure the reforms were implemented but sadly only a few Zimbabweans were paying attention!

Ever since Tsvangirai got the $4 million Highlands mansion from Mugabe he did nothing to upset Mugabe. "MDC vadzidza kudya vanyerere" (MDC have learnt to enjoy life on the gravy train without rocking the boat!) one Mugabe crony cynically remark at the time. Of course he was right!

Zimbabwe Light said...

@ Levy Nkomo
Saying someone is incompetent, corrupt or whatever is an insult if they are not. If they are indeed incompetent then it is not an insult and what is more it must be said and not sweep under the carpet. it is a very important component of democratic accountability, it is hard to swallow for some people but they will have to learn. Zimbabwe has to get out of this mess and cannot afford to be held back to gratify some misplaced egos!

Next time do not elect incompetent and corrupt leaders, period!

@ Andy
If Tsvangirai was powerless to change anything in the GNU then why did he agree to go into any arrange-ment in which he was powerless?

The GNU was to prepare the nation for free, fair and credible elections; Tsvangirai knew and understood that from the start. He is the one who campaign for a yes vote in the Copac constitution referendum insisting it would deliver free and fair elections. Why did he say all these things if he knew SADC had sold out?

If you understood the process of implementing the reforms then you would know that MDC could have implemented the reforms if the leadership had the vision and political will.

The trouble with people like you Andy is that you are single track minded; all these years you have wor-shipped Tsvangirai, he can do no wrong, and now you cannot accept that he is in fact just a blundering and incompetent leader even with a mountain of evidence of his blundering incompetence before you. Your refusal to accept the reality is your problem; the more you deny it the more foolish you look.

My task is to ensure as many Zimbabweans, with a functional brain, see Tsvangirai for the blundering and incompetent man he is and make sure they know that electing such an idiot again would be a disaster for the nation.

@ Chenai Chipikiri

We had our best chance yet to end the Zanu PF dictatorship if only MDC had implemented the democratic reforms. We must never allow these incompetent men and women have any more say in the affairs of this nation.

The dog-eat-dog fighting in Zanu PF will weaken the dictatorship and not make it stronger and the worsening economic meltdown will pile on the pressure on the regime to go. If we keep our eyes on the ball, this could be another chance for us to end this dictatorship. This time we must make sure that ALL the democratic reforms are implemented!

"Mutasa said he was very bitter that HE admonished him publicly. He went on to say that he thinks President Mugabe is a dictator who is in the habit of imposing his ideas on people and that this had been going on for too long without being challenged," said a source in one of the affidavits.

Turning to the succession question, Mutasa is said to have vowed that if President Mugabe in-sisted on blocking the ascendancy of Mai Mujuru, they would take him out.

"This time we are ready to show him at Congress, he knows very well that he has no support, Mnangagwa has no support and the support is with us. So, if he refuses to listen to the majority, we will take him out," Mutasa is quoted as saying.

The source said Mutasa revealed that he had absolute contempt of President Mugabe.

"When Mutasa went to Angola in the company of Deputy Minister Mutezo, they routinely spoke contemptuously about President Mugabe and bragged about the Mujuru plot to oust him," said the other source.

So it has taken Comrade Didymus Mutasa 34 years in government for him to finally realise that Mugabe was a dictator who needed to be stopped. 34 years! The sheer incompetency of Mujuru, Gumbo, Mutasa and the rest is breath-taking.

"This time we are ready to show him at Congress, he knows very well that he has no support, Mnangagwa has no support and the support is with us,” said Mutasa.

Of course Mugabe knew you lot had the numbers and he has done something about it too – completely neutralized your support. What is amazing here is people like Mutasa were counting on their numerical support when they should have known that is an advantage if the game is played by the rules and Mugabe is not one to play by the rules! They were a part to the rigged elections only a year ago; MDC, like the Mujuru faction, had the overwhelming public support but went on to lose by a landslide!

Now not only has Mugabe outwitted Mutasa and his co-plotted to turn their victory into a humiliating defeat, the tyrant is going to go one step further and punish them for treason – for in a dictatorship talk of regime change is tantamount to treason and it was people like Mutasa who have helped make Mugabe a dictator!

Mujuru’s family has reportedly left the country for SA.

Just as long as they do not take away the looted wealth! Millions of ordinary Zimbabweans are living in abject poverty today because of the corruption and looting by the Zanu PF ruling elite, their children, families and friends. This wealth must be recovered to help the victims of the corruption and must not be used to as a golden handshake for those who caused the chaos and misery.

Zimbabwe Light said...

Could not agree with you more, Grace Mugabe and the rest must account for all their wealth or it will be declared looted or stolen. There is a law in Zimbabwe that says no one is allowed to keep stolen property. What is more, these people will know once there is regime change, that no one, absolutely no one, is above the law!

@ Faith Zaba

At separate rallies this week with students and vendors at her children’s home in Mazowe, Grace repeatedly said if Mugabe does not appoint people she and her faction prefer at the party’s congress in just over 10 days’ time, they would gather — this time to protest against his decision.
At the meeting with students on Monday, Grace ordered Mugabe to take heed of her demands by getting rid of Mujuru.
“We chose her (Mujuru) to represent our interest but she has failed. We have had enough. Ivo baba havasi kuzvinzwa here kuti munhu ngaende (doesn’t the president get it that people want Mujuru to go),” she said.
“Varikufunga kuti pamwe zvichaenda nepamwe (Mujuru is riding her luck). Tinoda munhu ano-funga (we want someone who thinks). Baba vakasaisa zvatisingafarire tichaungana zvakare pano (If the president does meet our demands we will gather here again). We are saying to the president you made a mistake and now correct that mistake!”
Grace is the one who has claimed that she pressured Mugabe ten years ago to change the party rules to foster Mujuru as VP on the party although Mnangagwa had garnered popular party sup-port ahead of Mujuru. Now she is saying it Mugabe’s mistake and he must correct it. Well is she a confused woman or is she high on drugs – power is known to be one of the most addictive of all!

Mugabe has already said the people and not him must vote Mujuru out (or be it that the people’s vote will be carefully manipulated and that has already been taken care of with the booting out of all Mujuru supporters from top positions in the party). What else does Grace want Mugabe to do? What more assurance is she after? The threat to hold a public demonstration against Mugabe is, in the circumstance totally uncalled for and only shows that Grace is becoming obsessed and hysterical about Mujuru but, worse still, that the bedroom coup has gone out of hand.

You are absolute right Grace is now ruling Mugabe, running Zanu PF party and the country and Mugabe is nothing more that her ventriloquist dummy!

“Zanu has had its time, its arteries have hardened and 'its young men see no visions, its old men dream no dreams; it lives in the past and desperately tries to perpetuate the past.'” That is very true. You lost it however when you started calling on the opposition to unity; what opposition?
Zanu PF with its old men who “dream no dreams” has dragged us into this hell-hole; however it is the breathtakingly incompetent opposition who have kept us here. The Zimbabwe electorate in their haste to get out of this hell have again and again fallen for the quick and easy solution where there is no quick and easy solution.
Leaders like Tsvangirai have offered the people democratic change without implementing the democratic reforms which entailed the hard work of leaders like him and the people themselves understanding what the reforms are about; and the people voted for MDC. Indeed the nation is in this hell-hole because Mugabe offered the people the easy route to economic prosperity through reckless spending, corruption and looting without the usual pre-requisites of hard work and, as we know the people voted for Zanu PF.
You are an MDC member you too are desperately trying to hang on to the failed past just like Zanu PF members because you cannot accept that MDC failed. You are hungering for the failed opposition to unite; you are hungering for the quick and easy solution to work.
We are in hell-hole the only way out an uphill slog; downhill will only take you deeper into this hell! There is no quality opposition because they will only come out of a quality electorate. Get the quality electorate, one that is willing to understand, really understand and not the superficial understanding of the slogan canting mob, the big national issues and a quality opposition will emerge just as healthy crops grow in rich soil. That is hard work, I did say it is an uphill slog!
