VP Mujuru is like a foul mouthed old woman cursing non-stop but come the storm she is clutching the Bible

Zimbabwe is a nation ruled by fear. It was fear that had VP Mujuru reaching for her Bible over the weekend and talk of peace. She has been an active member of the Salvation Army but this weekend she was quoting from the Bible extensively with seriousness, urgency and earnest few had never seen in her. Some people are capable of that dipolar behaviour.
In my village there was this old lady, vaMujeke, who could curse and swear in the foulest language I have ever heard in my whole life. She would remonstrate her displeasure by flashing her naked behind in the direction or face of whoever had annoyed her. She was the Sheila Mutsenhu, the Zanu PF activist who stripped down to her bra and knickers before the US Ambassador to protest the sanctions, of her time. It did not take much to get her running full throttle and forming at the mouth cursing and swearing and once in full flow she would go on for hours. The one thing that stopped her dead in full flow was lightening.
There was nothing like the clap of lightening to shut up vaMujeke and send her scouring for somewhere to hide. On one occasion she happened to be wearing a red head scarf, a bad colour that ‘attracted’ lightening; she whip it off her head and hid it in the nearest place she could find which happened to be a clay-pot. The home owner was not amused to find a dirty head scarf in their culture milk. She was also known to put out the fire with whatever she found handy. I went to bed hungry one night when she happened to seek shelter in our home.

As the storm progress one could hear her mumbling something, the closer and louder the lightening clap the louder her mumbled. It was something religious; you could hear Jesus and God in the mumbling. At her home, it is said she would clutching the Bible.

Fear has turned VP Mujuru to the holy book with vaMujeke’s zeal! She talked of fear and nothing else.

Mujuru said the Church was there to help people live peacefully together and to mould God-fearing citizens.

She also said that people should generally not be afraid of the living, but of the All Mighty God, who saw everything that took place under the sun.

“Ndozvatauyira pano kuti tidzorwe munzira dzedu dzisinakururama, tidzorwe mukuita kwedu, mumatauriro, mafambiro nemagariro edu, pavepo nerugare munyika yedu yakafirwa, yakasunungurwa nevapenyu nevakaenda, tibatsire vatungamiriri vedu kuti runyararo rwuripo rwuve runyararo rwechokwadi (We are here for this Church gathering to be guided by God and the Church so that we behave ourselves, speak well and live well, so that there will be peace in the country that many people sacrificed their lives for),” said Mujuru.

“We cannot respect a God we have not seen when we cannot respect each other. We were created in his own image. It delights the Lord to see his people living in peace.”

Peace what peace, madam?

For 34 years since independence the one thing Zimbabwe has yarned for but was denied is peace, justice and human dignity. This corrupt and oppressive Zanu PF dictatorship has left millions economically destitute and has terrorized the people denying them a meaningful say in the governance of the country and even the right to life itself. The regime has murdered over 30 000 innocent people in its 34 years in power. VP Mujuru as a senior member of the regime has done nothing to end the corruption and oppression. Indeed she is a chief instigator and beneficiary of some of the corruption and looting that has been going on.

Last November she went one step further than the Zanu PF modus operandi of pretending there was no corruption and no political oppression and that the country’s economic problems were all caused by the “illegitimate sanctions imposed by the evil West”. She publicly denied the stories of rampant corruption in parastatals like PSMAS and denounced those who had uncovered the stories as agents of regime change. To a long suffering Zimbabwean public, the victims of the rampant corruption, she might just as well have spit in our faces and flashed her naked behind, vaMujeke style.

The on-going factional fighting in Zanu PF of the last few months has seen VP Mujuru being hunted down like an animal by her former Zanu PF colleagues in the fight for power. The storm has been gathering pace and she is frightened out of her wits and she is now feverishly turning to the Bible and praying for peace.

I would like to believe that God is not so easily fooled by cynical people like vaMujeke or VP Mujuru who treat his key commandment to “treat others as we would want them to treat you” with the uttermost contempt but only to become super religious when the lightning storm  approach.

THE ZIMBABWE NATIONAL ARMY IS ON RED ALERT IS RESPOND TO THE INCREASING POLITICAL TENSION AS THE FACTIONAL WARS IN ZANU PF HOTS UP. ALL LEAVE FOR SOLDIERS HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

MUGABE HAS CREATED THE ILLUSION THAT HE WAS IN CONTROL AND EVERYTHING WAS ORDERLY IN THE COUNTRY AND WITHIN HIS OWN PARTY ZANU PF. NOW THE TRUTH IS COMING OUT.

IT IS CLEAR THAT HE HAS DESTROYED THE NATION'S ECONOMY THROUGH DECADES OF GROSS MISMANAGEMENT AND RAMPANT CORRUPTION. HE HAS DENIED THERE WAS ANYTHING AMISS AND BLAMED THE COUNTRY'S ECONOMIC WOES OF "ILLEGAL SANC-TIONS IMPOSED BY THE EVIL WEST".

IT IS ALSO CLEAR THAT THE BRUTAL POLITICAL REPRESSION WHICH HAS SEEN OVER 30 000 INNOCENT ZIMBABWEANS MURDERED TO CREATE HIS DE FACTO ONE PARTY DICTA-TORSHIP HAS STOPPED PEACEFUL EVOLUTIONARY CHANGE OR TO STORE UP FOR VIO-LENT REVOLUTIONARY CHANGE. THE STRUGGLE FOR POWER IN HIS OWN PARTY COULD EASILY END IN BLOOD SHED.

THE NEXT FEW MONTHS ARE GOING TO BE TENSE AND WORRY-SOME.

ZIMBABWE MUST NOW TAKE THE SEIZE THE NEXT EARLIEST OPPORTUNITY TO END THIS ZANU PF TYRANNICAL AUTOCRACY AND REPLACE IT WITH A DEMOCRATIC SYSTEM. IT IS A GREAT PITY THAT THOSE CORRUPT AND BREATHTAKINGLY INCOMPETENT MDC ID-IOTS FAILED TO IMPLEMENT THE DEMOCRATIC REFORMS WHEN THEY HAD THE CHANCE TO DO SO.

IT GOES TO SHOW THAT THE ELECTORATE MUST TAKE THE BUSINESS OF ELECTING LEADERS WITH THE SERIOUSNESS AND DILIGENCE THE MATTER DEMANDS. IF THEY HAD DONE SO THEN THEY WOULD NOT HAVE ELECTED SUCH INCOMPETENT INDIVIDUALS OR AT LEAST SEEN TO IT THAT THEY IMPLEMENTED THE REFORMS.

THE REFORMS MUST NOW BE IMPLEMENTED A.S.A.P.

The Mnangagwa faction cannot agree on who should be the second vice president, between Oppah Muchinguri and Edna Madzongwe.

Well the Mnangagwa camp is worrying about how the spoils of power are to be shared out; that is a luxu-ry. The Mujuru camp is worrying about whether they are now to be disposed of all they have looted and face the rigours of abject poverty or disposed and thrown in prison or even worse still disposed and killed!

Zanu PF is a party of ruthless thugs and life is a bed of roses whilst you are part of the gang when you seize to be and are considered a threat the gang is ruthless.

The trouble with old crows like Cephas Msipa is they are alive but have been brain dead for decades. How else otherwise can one explain how he could be so hopeless out of touch with the reality? He was criticising the Mnangagwa faction for accusing VP Mujuru of being corrupt, calling it “unAfrican” and that the Zimbabwe public would not approve.

“They are doing it with the hope that the public will turn against her, but that’s not correct, people abhor what they are doing,” said Msipa.

Is the old idiot saying VP Mujuru is not corrupt; we all know that she is one of the most corrupt individuals in the country and last November had the audacity to insult the public by denying the PSMAS cash scandal. The nation’s economic meltdown is due to rampant corruption and the regime doing nothing to end it and meanwhile the nation suffers. The public will not take kindly to Msipa rubbing hot chills in their eyes by denying that there is no corruption.

If Msipa is saying she is corrupt but it should be swept under the carpet because to do otherwise is unAfrican then the old toad has not been listening to what the nation has been saying all along. The nation has been crying for freedom of expression so that corruption in high places is exposed and not swept under the carpet so it can grow and spread like a cancer which is exactly what has happened here. The nation has been crying for a meaningful say in the governance of the country and one of the critic requirement in that is the public must be well informed.

We have 30 000 children out of school, 90% are out of work, 16% or 2 million Zimbabweans are living in heart-breaking poverty, etc. The demands to end corruption; freedom of expression; free, fair and credible elections; etc. are all part and parcel of the shopping basket requirements the nation needs to get out of this hell-hole Mugabe and Zanu PF landed us. Indeed these are common sense requirements but if having common sense is unAfrican in Msipa’s books then the soon this slug crews back under the log where he came from the better for this nation!

@ Cde

Mai Mujuru is one of the most corrupt individuals in Zimbabwe and add to that she is as incompetent as Tsvangirai and the other opposition leaders. So why anyone would consider her leadership material bog-gles the mind!

What we need is for all the democratic reforms to be implemented and allow a functioning and healthy democratic process separate the chaff from the grain and then the wind-bags grain from the wholesome grain.

We must strive to build a robust democracy for now when we have the chance and not waste it on some quick fix solution born out of laziness to think.

@ Blara Zonke

Create a democratic system and you will be pleasantly surprised of the quality leaders who will emerge. The present system was design to produce rubbish and that is exactly what it has done!

@Sekuru Ndaronga

This is more than a turf war of Zanu PF factions; this is about Zimbabwe. Corruption is one of the main reasons why 90% are unemployed, 300 000 children are out of school, 16% or 2 million Zimbabweans are now living in abject poverty, etc. To therefore deny that Mai Mujuru is not corrupt for the sake of scoring factional points is to miss seeing the bigger national issue at play.

I do not support other faction because they are the two sides of the same corrupt and tyrannical regime.

What I condemn is corruption; I cannot pretend that Mai Mujuru is not corrupt or condone it just because those accusing her are themselves corrupt. I do not care who is accusing her, what I care about is that she is corrupt!

@ James Bond

Mugabe has created a political system that promoted individuals who would not be a threat to his rule. Look at the late Simon Muzenda and now Joice Mujuru Mugabe appointed them VP precisely because they are incompetent.

Think outside the box Mugabe has you and the nation boxed in. Mujuru is "currently our best hope" only because you do not want to think outside the box.

Let us create a democratic system and then see if Mujuru, a dim wit and a corrupt one to boot, can still hold the candle in the competition. I will eat my hat if she does!

Zimbabwe Light said...

@ James Bond

How do you there is no one else out there when we have not even looked. Implement the ALL the reforms that the corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent MDC idiots should have implemented and thus open up the political system to some real serious competition of ideas (not the present system of competition of corruption and tyranny). Trust me Zimbabwe will be back on track to being the great nation it is!

The trouble is people talk of democracy and democratic change but they are not paying any real attention. Ask Tsvangirai about democratic reform and the idiot does not have the foggiest idea what you talking about. No wonder he failed to get even one reform implemented in five years of the GNU. He still has no clue even today!

Zimbabwe Light said...

@ Dollars

The big tent to unite all of Zimbabwe's most incompetent political leaders. Mujuru is just as incompetent and so she should feel totally at home there. There is talk of GNU mark two which will bring in the Mnangagwa faction into the big tent and the family of idiots would be complete!

Zimbabweans love recycling their failed leaders and when they have done a great job of fcuk up the coun-try, we bury them at heroes' Acre so we can worship them for generation!

Well, no wonder we are in a mess; we are so fcuked up, we have completely lost the ability to think!

@Obert Gutu

Obert Gutu should know that the Ugandan dictator Idi Amin is turning in his grave right now at the "crass" of being compared to Morgan Tsvangirai! Amin had his faults but he was never as breathtakingly incompetent as Tsvangirai!

Tsvangirai has proven beyond all doubt that he is one of the most incompetent leaders in human history. In Douglas Mwonzora and now Obert Gutu Tsvangirai could not have found more useless spin doctors. Gutu has stepped into Mwonzora’s shoes with gusto, complaining that Tsvangirai should not be compared to Amin is like Mwonzora complaining that Zanu PF should not call Tsvangirai a puppet. Why not: the coated fitted perfectly!

There are stories of Mnangagwa, once confirmed as president, appointing Tsvangirai into his new admin-istration.

I am sure Mnangagwa will happily give Tsvangirai another stint in government with an important sound-ing title but no power or authority just to get the latter to shut up. What the two have to realise is that deal will do nothing to end the nation's economic meltdown. The only way to end the meltdown is for the Zanu PF regime to step down so fresh free and fair elections can be held. There is no other way!

Once Zanu PF is out of the way; yes, all and I mean ALL the democratic reforms will be implemented to ensure the elections are free, fair and democratic – the new president Mnangagwa is frightened of that! He is right to be frightened because for the first time in its history Zanu PF will have no affair advantage in an election, for the first time ever the people of Zimbabwe will have their say in who governs the country.

It will be a historic day that day and after all these years of being cheated the people will be able to say “FREE AT LAST! FREE AT LAST! THANK GOD, WE ARE FREE AT LAST!”

@ Sammy Moyo

Are you talking of the same army that has had its soldiers being forced to go on leave two weeks every month? If they did not get the message that the nation is in economic meltdown then they will soon do when they do not get paid end of the month which is where we are going the longer Zanu PF remains in power. If anyone in the army has the solution to the economic meltdown then he or she can be president and run the country.

Zimbabwe's current economic meltdown is taking no prisoner and any Zanu PF hot head who think the status qua of corruption and looting can go on is living in cuckoo land. In the real world, Zimbabwe is subject to the same laws of thermodynamic and economics as the rest of the world.

After the Zanu PF congress even Mugabe, a hardened tyrant if he is the one still in power, will be forced to accept that the economic meltdown cannot go for much longer!

Zanu PF spokesperson Rugare Gumbo told the Daily News yesterday that certain “power hungry el-ements” in the party wanted to usurp power from elected provincial chairpersons by removing them from office.

Rugare Gumbo is just confirming Zanu PF’s modus operandi of usurping power to get what it want. The party usurped the people’s power to a meaningful vote years ago and over the years has held meaningless elections in that the party always made sure it “won” the elections and thus secure its set objective of ‘no regime change’.

This time Mugabe is usurping power to ensure that the Mnangagwa faction of Zanu PF, which has his backing, wins the upcoming congress elections.

Rugare Gumbo is only complaining about the usurping of power to secure a Mnangagwa faction victory but has never ever said anything all the many times Zanu PF has rigged national elections. Well Mr Rugare Gumbo, you are getting a taste of your own medicine and it serves you and your fellow Mujuru supporters right! Two fingers salute to you sir!

Zimbabwe Light said...

Whichever Zanu PF faction wins this turf war it will not have time to lick its wounds let alone savour its victory because in the economy it will find it has a Formula 1 size Champaign bottle full of the poison. Not that the regime had been doing anything of note to end the economic meltdown before the turf war heated up.

Mugabe had gone the Chinese and Russians, “all weather friends” he called them; to sell the nation’s last treasures at giveaway prices. They bought what they wanted for a total of $7 billion, a far cry from the $27 billion Mugabe was after for his ZimAsset plan but worse still none of it was for budgetary support, which is what Mugabe was after. The Chinese told Mugabe to his face that they will not spend a dollar on budgetary finance because he “is a bad debtor”.

The Mnangagwa faction, which is the one Mugabe supports, is ‘winning’ the turf factional war by crook and only by crook of course; he has no choice but to go for foul and foul means, he has only a handful of loyal supporters and has to bus them around just as he did to vote in last year’s elections. He will find the national economy not so easily tricked as the Mujuru faction now or the MDC in last year’s elections!

Weeds do not stop growing because the lazy farmer has gone fishing when he should be attending to his crops. They will continue to grow and choke the crops.

Zanu PF was doomed to end in failure with the party imploding and the national economy in ruins and we are witnessing the two outcomes. It is academic which of the two is hogging the front page today what matters is they are both

@ Easy bunny

What is the plan? We fought for independence and lost many lives in the struggle only for Mugabe to hijack the revolution with the consequences we see today. In the last 15 years the nation made great sacrifices to elect Tsvangirai and his MDC friend in the hope they will deliver us from the Zanu PF dictatorship. Mugabe bribed them turning Tsvangirai into his poodle the day the MDC leader got his Highlands mansion.

You are not suggesting we go back on the street so that Tsvangirai can get back his ministerial car, resume his globe-trotting, chase women of ill repute, etc.? He has already proven to be breathtakingly incompe-tent; he sure does not need another chance to do so again.

First things first; you must have a clear understand why the last 34 years have been a total failure and then come up with a plan that shows you have learnt from the past.

If we are going on the street to demand the implementation of ALL the democratic reforms designed to dismantle this corrupt and murderous dictatorship then you are talking! But before I join you, I would like to know what measures you have taken to ensure the reforms are implemented this time?

@James Bond

What you are proposing is a revolution led by a few with the rest following blinding behind without a clue where they are going. What always happens then is the leaders agree amongst themselves to share the spoils of power and never deliver any of the promises they made to the blind followers. That is exactly what Mugabe has done and Tsvangirai has just done the same thing.

The would-be leaders may well be "sunning themselves somewhere" as you said that has not stopped the clamour for change. It is the 16% or 2 million and counting on the coal face of the economic meltdown who are suffering the most and not the would-be leaders sunning them-selves. There will never be a shortage of opportunistic leaders to take advantage of the suffering masses for that they too can be Prime Minister, get a Highlands mansion, globe-trot, chase wom-en of ill repute, etc. There were 28 political parties at the last elections!

What we need for a success revolution that will finally change povo's lives for the better and not just make the ruling elite rich is an electorate that really takes the trouble to understand the key big issues before the nation and will follow closely to ensure they are delivered. What is the point of being given a vote and a choice and you are more likely to make the wrong choice because of your superficial understanding of the subject matter!

A healthy and functional democracy demands a thinking electorate and not a herd of wildebeest hard wired to follow the animal in front of them!

@FUNGAI

IN MOST DEMOCRATIC SOCIETIES POLITICIANS WILL BE FORCED TO RESIGN FOR MISINFORMING THE PUBLIC BUT IN ZIMBABWE THE BLATANTLY RIG ELECTIONS MURDER THOUSANDS OF INNOCENT PEOPLE AND WE SAY NOTHING. 300 000 CHILDREN ARE OUT OF SCHOOL AND 16% OR 2 MILLION PEOPLE ARE LIVING IN ABJECT POVERTY RIGHT NOW BECAUSE OF THE DECADES OF CORRUPTION AND LOOTING AND WE ARE TO SAY NOTHING?!

OUR PROBLEM IS NOT THAT WE HAVE BEEN USING “INFLAMATORY LANGUAGE” BUT THAT WE HAVE NOT BEEN OUTRAGED BY THE GROSS INJUSTICE OF WHAT THESE LEADERS HAVE BEEN DOING TO SCREAM AT THEM. IF YOU CANNOT SCREAM AT WHAT IS HAPPENING IT IS ONLY BECAUSE YOU HAVE FAILED TO GRASP THE ENORMITY OF THE INJUSTICE HERE.

HAVE YOU EVER CONSIDERED THE CONSEQUENCES OF MISSING OUT ON SCHOOL FOR THE 300 000 CHILDREN, FOR EXAMPLE? EVEN IF THIS CHAOS WAS TO END NOW SO THAT NEXT YEAR THEY ARE ALL BACK AT SCHOOL (WHICH IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN BUT LET US JUST SUPPOSE) THESE CHILDREN WILL NEVER EVER RICH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL IN TERMS OF ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT. THE LOST A WHOLE YEAR AND THEY WILL NEVER RECOVER IT.

SO THESE CHILDREN WILL GROW INTO ADULTS WHO IN TURN WILL GO THROUGH LIFE ALWAYS PERFORMING BELOW THEIR TRUE POTENTIAL. THERE WILL NOT GIVE THEIR CHILDREN THE BEST THEY COULD HAVE. THIS MAY TAKE TWO OR THREE GENERATION TO CORRECT ITSELF. AND WHY ARE ALL THESE PEOPLE TO SUFFER, FOR WHAT END AND PURPOSE?

SO THAT THE LIKES OF MAI MUJURU CAN HAVE ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO LOOT SOME MORE AFTER 34 YEARS IN GOVERNMENT WHERE SHE DID NOTHING OF NOTE OTHER THAN LOOT.

NOW, YOU TELL ME, WHAT LANGUAGE WOULD YOU USE TO EXPRESS YOU OUT-RAGE ON BEHALF OF THE 300 000 CHILDREN WHOSE WHOLE LIVES HAVE BEEN RUINED?

ZIMBABWE IS IN THIS ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL HELL-HOLE BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE HAVE FAILED TO COMPREHEND WHAT IS GOING ON HERE. THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN OUTRAGED BY ANYTHING BECAUSE THEY HAVE NEVER UNDER-STOOD THE REALITY.

WHEN SOMEONE IS OUTRAGE BECAUSE I USED THE TWO FINGER SALUTE TO SOMEONE WHOSE BETRAYAL OF THE NATION WAS CONDEMNED 300 000 CHIL-DREN TO A LIFE OF UNDER ACHIEVERS BUT SPARED NO THOUGHT FOR THE CHILDREN MY HEART BLEEDS! HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT ANYONE CAN BE THIS SHALLOW AND NAÏVE? MY HEART BLEEDS TOO BECAUSE I KNOW THE COUNTRY WILL NEVER EVER GET OUT OF THIS HELL-HOLE WITH SUCH A SHALLOW AND NAÏVE ELECTORATE!

YOU CAN CALL THAT INFLAMATORY OR WHATEVER YOU PLEASE, I CALL IT THE TRUTH AND THAT IS WHAT MATTERS ABOVE ALL ELSE.
