To be forewarned is to be forearmed: Mugabe has ruthlessly crashed Mujuru, a cde-in-arms, he will do a lot worse to povo!

Nothing could illustrate more graphically just how hopeless, powerless and helpless the ordinary person is in Mugabe’s Zimbabwe than the political machinations that have resulted in the political downfall of VP Mujuru and her supporters. One minute she is sizing her bum on the throne and the next minute, quick as a flash, she is being dragged by her bum in the gutter! What happened?

VP Mujuru was accused of many things, her principle accuser by Grace Mugabe, and let me say here and now that none of those charges made any sense in the context of Zanu PF. I will go through some of those:
·         She was accused of being lazy: she is VP to a psych phonic tyrant and control freak who has never allowed anyone else chair a cabinet meeting all the many times he is out of the country. Like everyone else in his regime, the poor woman was not allowed to say, do or even touch anything!

·         She was accused of being incompetent: Mugabe wanted her as his deputy precisely because she was not a full-shilling. Was not that the same reason he appointed Simon Muzenda, before her? She has been VP for a decade now and this had not come up until now? Nonsense!

·         She was accused of being corrupt: of course she is corrupt and has been involved in corrupt activities for donkey years. He late husband was a billionaire in his own right and so is she; they did not make their fortune in one or two deals or over the last year but instead had their fingers in many pies, not just trading in illicit diamonds, over the last decades. She and her husband are not the only Zanu PF leaders who are corrupt.

Grace Mugabe has just hosted a $ 5 million wedding for their daughter Bona; Grace owes, by her own admission, the biggest dairy farm in the country; Mugabes live in a palatial mansion worth $ 20 million at least; etc. She does not expect the nation to believe that she made all her fortune from investing her former typist wages wisely.

What is heart-breaking about the ruling elite becoming multimillionaire and billionaires is that it is happening at a time total economic meltdown sending unemployment to soaring heights of 90% plus causing tragic human suffering. 16% or 2 million Zimbabweans are already living in abject poverty and the situation is getting worse with each day nothing is done to end this criminal waste of the nation’s resources through rampant corruption.

·         Mai Mujuru is accused of wanting to be president: well what she is being accused of to be more precise is keeping her current post as VP which would have made her favourite to take over when Mugabe goes. Mnangagwa has been doing his uttermost to muscle in and so too has Grace herself. “Why can I not be president?” she asked in deadly earnest.

This was the cardinal sinner, Mai Mujuru was charged of, swiftly tried in a kangaroo court, found guilty and now, just as swiftly, is being punished. It is the way the whole process has been handled that sends a chill down every thinking Zimbabwean’s spine.

·         When Mugabe accused Mujuru and others of plotting to kill him; that in Zanu PF dirty politics was a Fattah on all the plotters. Mugabe has once again elevated canvasing for political support into plotting to murder, just to stir up the murderous passions of Zanu PF thugs.

Hyenas roll in game dung to mask their scent for better hunting. When the hyena clan want to evict one member they pretend the target is game looking like a hyena to fool them and, of course, they will not be easily fooled. Mugabe has just soaked his political challengers in goat blood and the Zanu PF clan is baying for their blood.

There are a number of things that are worryingly wrong with the way Mai Mujuru and her faction supporters have been dealt with and chief amount them are:

1.    If a position is an elective position, how is one supposed to garner for support if no one is allowed to have followers?
2.    On what basis did Mugabe decide to call Mai Mujuru faction divisive and therefore not acceptable and not do the same with the Mnangagwa faction.
3.       Whatever Mujuru and her supporters had done they were surely entitled to be brought before a properly constituted disciplinary hearing and due process followed giving them a chance to defend themselves of the charges.
4.       The way one faction has carried out a campaign of intimidation to force elected officials belonging to Mujuru factions out of office smacks of the same tactics of intimidation and lawlessness that has become a hallmark of Zimbabwe’s elections.
5.    The way the politburo has been bullied into changing the party’s constitution to facilitate a desire electoral outcome for Mugabe is too symptomatic of what has happened repeatedly in national elections.

Mai Mujuru, Rugare Gumbo, Didymus Mutasa and many, many others are Zanu PF grandees of the party and not just ordinary card carrying members. If they are being treated so contemptuous without any consideration for their freedoms and basic human rights it is little wonder the ordinary Zimbabwean with even more contemptuous.

If Mugabe can rig his own party’s election and cheat his own former comrades in arms there is no question of him not doing even worse to the ordinary Zimbabweans whom he has always treated as subjects, not citizens worthy of the freedoms and human rights other people the world over take for granted.

The ruthlessness with which Mugabe and Mnangagwa have dealt with Mai Mujuru and others shows that they will stop at nothing to get power. If any ordinary Zimbabwean should dare stand in the way he or she will be mercilessly crashed into the dust.

The 34 years of mismanagement and corruption has resulted in total economic meltdown sending unemployment into nauseating heights of 90% plus, 16% or 2 million are already living in abject poverty. The situation it set to get even worse as long as Zanu PF remains in power. Mnangagwa and his faction, who are now set to take over from Mugabe will be more determined than ever to hang on to power at all cost. Mnangagwa will have the crown superglued to his head in a “Until death do us part!” oath.

So the scene is set with the millions of ordinary Zimbabweans in a desperate, desperate bid for political change to alleviate their tragic economic suffering on the one hand. On the other hand a newly crowned ruling elite desperate to maintain the status quo. The Zanu PF regime emerging from the on-going dog-eat-dog fight will be weaker numerically than the old Zanu PF but it will make-up for than in sheer ruthlessness.

In the clash of the titans, the ordinary defenceless Zimbabweans against Zanu PF it must be remembered it a murderous tyrannical regime we are dealing with! Mugabe and Mnangagwa took off the velvet glove hiding the iron fist to crash Mujuru, Gumbo and others; they will now using the fists to silence the populous groaning from the ill effects of the economic meltdown! To be forewarned is to be forearmed!

When you accept to join in a mud-crab dance you necessary accept that you will get mud all over. Mutasa and others have done a lot worse, they joined a hyena clan and now the clan is booting them out!

Everyone has known that Mugabe does not play by the normal rules of a free and fair say for everyone. People like Mutasa, Mujuru, Gumbo, etc, they have all known that all these years. They know last year's elections were blatantly rigged but they have all said nothing because it was the vote rigging that got them back into power. But sometimes the table are turned, this time the vote rigging got then not just kicked out of power but into serious trouble.

Hyenas roll in game dung to mask their scent for better hunting. But when a clan wants to boot one member out, they swear if he/she smells like game then it must be game looking like a hyena to fool them. Mugabe has had the likes of Mujuru, Mutasa and other soaked in goat's blood and the smell has set the clan into frenzy. They clan is baying to spill blood!

When Mugabe accused Mujuru and others of plotting to kill him; that is a Fattah in Zanu PF language, now everyone has a licence to kill the plotters!

@ Field Ruwe

When Mugabe was campaigning for last year's elections, he was not contend to just talk to church members he dressed like a member of VaPostori at one point. That did not stop him rigging the elections and thus behave worse than the common thief but rather the devil incarnate!
VP Mujuru is one of Zimbabwe’s most corrupt leaders and yet during elections, she is either wearing her Zanu PF garb with Mugabe’s portrait or else her Salvation Army Church uniform. She is a billionaire but that did not stop her using her position as Church Elder helping herself to donated funds and then persecuting those who dared to condemn the corruption. And still she will rattle out quotations from Genesis to Revelation better than many a Rabbi.
This whole article is full of the religious platitudes that will not help the people of Zimbabwe distinguish the competent and honest leaders from the rife-rough of Dr Jekyll by day and Mr Hyde by night. As long as the electorate do not have a clue what is economically deliverable from the pie in the sky promises the country will always fall for the cunning Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde!

It is not by turning the nation into a nation of the praying mantis Zambia will get out of this mess but by becoming a nation of thinking voters.

@ Ndaba Nhuku

Why are you insisted that the people elected this regime when you know they rigged the elections? Zanu PF maintained they did not rig the 2002 elections by a Khampepe report has finally put this to rest by confirming they rigged.

The Americans and other western government have refused to lift the sanctions against Mugabe and his cronies precisely because he rigged last year's elections. The country is in this political and economic limbo because Zanu PF is illegitimate. There will be a judiciary inquiry into the 2013 elections to establish and confirm that the party once again rigged the elections.

OUSTED Masvingo Zanu PF chairman and retired Zimbabwe National Army brigadier general, Kalisto Gwanetsa, has angrily denied allegations he is planning to form his own political party.
"I am a trained cadre who joined the liberation struggle on 15 September 1975 and re-ceived my training at Mgagawo camp,” he said.
"Forming my own political party would be an insult to my person and other comrades who sacrificed themselves to attain the freedom Zimbabwe has today.
"I will never do such a thing, I will always be Zanu PF to the grave."
It is the mentality of people like him that has put Zimbabwe in this mess. No wonder people like him never said anything all these years when Mugabe started riding roughshod over the people’s basic freedoms and human rights including the right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country and even the right to life itself.
The way Mugabe has engineered ouster of Gwanetsa and other party officials from their popularly elected positions and the party flies in the face of common justice and decency. It clearly shows that Mugabe does not respect the democratic wishes of the party members who elected these officials or the rights of the officials themselves to stand for office.
The war of independence was fought for freedom, liberty and justice for all Zimbabweans and not just those who carried guns and fought in that war, which seemed to be the case until now. The recent purge of senior party officials like Gwanetsa has changed all that; now even those “joined the liberation struggle on 15 September 1975 and received my training at Mgagawo camp” are not safe from the whims of the dictator!
Zanu PF no longer stands for the freedom, human rights and dignities of pre-independence days. Zanu PF now stands for keeping Mugabe and his ruling elite in power at all and any cost including denying the ordinary people and liberation fighters their right to a meaningful say in who should govern the country.
If Zanu PF no longer represents any of the values the war of liberation was fought for but only the selfish interests of Mugabe; to vow never to leave Zanu PF regardless the fact it now stands for the opposite of what it should, smacks of cowardice and a dodgy moral compass. The fear of not daring to stand up to Mugabe even when it is clear he has become a ruthless tyrant! It is nonsense to consider any of the Zanu PF members as principled anything given they have remained in the party all these years whilst Mugabe continued to brutalize the nation and yet never said a word!
Comrade Gwanetsa, take it from me, your political career is definitely over because Zanu PF itself is on its last legs; the years economic mismanagement and political misrule have left the nation in economic ruins and political mess and Zanu PF itself at war from within, in terminal collapse and so unpopular nationally it is unelectable. Your political fortune would not have changed even if you were to form your own party; after decades of doing Mugabe’s dirty bidding you will take your reputation as a political thug to your grave.

It must be said that Mugabe has had the great fortune of having some really incompetent opponents both within his own party and in the form of opposition. Mugabe would not be in power today if Tsvangirai and his MDC friends had implemented the democratic reforms. The only reason why not even one reform was implemented is that MDC leaders are breathtakingly incompetent.

After seeing how Mugabe had changed the law, disregard law, intimidated, raped, rigged elections and even murdered opponents you would think that Mujuru, Gumbo, Mutasa and the rest would have known what they were up against and made sure that Zanu PF was changed or at least have dirty tricks of their on to counter Mugabe's. They did absolutely nothing and were out witted at the first move and by Grace Mugabe, of all people!

When it comes to being incompetent Zimbabwe's politicians, especially MDC and Mujuru faction, sure take the biscuit!

What Virginia Muwanigwa failed to appreciate here is that VP Mujuru did indeed fail to deliver after a decade in that position. The failure by the faction she was leading to put up a fight in this fight is largely because of her incompetence.

Mugabe has been good at using the narrow mindedness of one sector of society to his own selfish advantage. In this case the correct position should have been that he must appoint some one purely on merit but to supposedly please those who those achieving a gender head count was more important he appointed Mujuru. She was not even the most competent women but if merit does not count then why not.

He wanted a VP he will out shine and in Mujuru he had that.

Mugabe used the narrow mindedness of those who wanted a regional balance to appoint Simon Muzenda.

The people of Masvingo did not benefit anything for him being VP no more than the feminists benefit from Mujuru being VP. The moral of the story is that the nation has everything to lose the minute we allow ourselves to be side tracked by narrow selfish agenda when we should focus on the big picture - national interest.

@ Looking

Ian Smith is already back in the form of the Chinese, they have been funding Mugabe's corrupt rule in return for Zimbabwe's wealth which the tyrant has been selling to them for a song. They have been looting Zimbabwe's diamonds and no one knows how much they are shipping out. The Israelis, Indians and Lebanese are all in on the act.

The new modus operandi is not to colonise but to keep a corrupt few locals in power whilst you loot as much as possible as quickly as possible and then leave!

I agree blacks have turned to God but only out of laziness. The hard working farmers pray for good rains and know they have to work hard to get a good harvest.

The lazy farmer prays for a good harvest; they expect God to provide the good rain and to prepare the land, plant the crops, do the weeding, everything just as He did in the Garden of Eden. The blacks have read the bit God banished Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden; they are praying for Him to let them back!

They would rather suffer than work hard!

The human brain is what has made us humans lords over everything else. But of all the human tissues the brain is the one that turns to fat quickest if it is not exercised. As a people, blacks do not like exercising their brains. If we made the effort to think through our problems then we would not be in this mess, always at the bottom of the human pyramid and used as others' foot stool! Always begging!

I would not put it beyond some MDC and Mujuru faction members to have discussed the assassination because it is in the nature of blundering idiots to think of jumping out of the top floor window when they have a get-out of jail card and door was wide open.

MDC and the Mujuru faction have had so many opportunities to end the Zanu PF dictatorship by implementing democratic reforms but they have never done so. Why assassinate Mugabe and give the tyrant the excuse to ruthlessly silence you when you could get him out of power legally?!

@ Joseph Hwande

"Mukoma Aleck, why did you have to come back to ZANU-PF?" you ask. My question would be Mukoma Aleck, why did you deny Zanu PF rigged last year's elections when you know exactly how the rigging was done?

We must reject these hypocrites who swear to up hold freedom, justice, liberty and human rights and dignity but promptly forget these things the minute they are in power. The day they are kicked off the gravy train they once again take up the struggle with the Bible in one hand and the UN Declaration of Human Rights in the other as if that is what they have always done!

Rugare Gumbo, Joice Mujuru, Dzikamai Mavhaire, Didymus Mutasa, Simba Makoni, Dumiso Dabengwa, etc. all these individuals have betrayed the people of Zimbabwe just as readily as Tsvangirai, Tendai Biti and the other MDC idiots did during the GNU. Mugabe laid the gravy train honey trap for them and they were like cockroaches in a bowl of milk and all forgot about freedom, etc. Each time the tyrant kicks anyone of them out, they always remember the suffering of the masses because they know it is their ticket to for another chance back on the gravy train. We should not allow these incompetent individuals cheat and betray the people again and again!

@Vince

"In my opinion, the MDC-T, despite their purported inadequacies, must now take the driver’s seat and lead", you say.

MDC-T's "purported inadequacies" are so serious that it is unthinkable that they should ever be trusted to lead this nation.

Ask yourself what is required to take this nation out of this hell? And anyone who has an grasp of the country's politics will tell you that the nation must implement ALL the democratic reforms without which there is no hope of ever breaking this Zanu PF dictatorship.

MDC-T had five years, the support of SADC, etc. to implement the reforms and yet failed to get even one reform implemented. Not one! There are only two logical reasons why they failed: they were corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent.

If they were corrupt and incompetent during the GNU what is there to show that they are no longer corrupt and incompetent? Nothing!

To put faith in the same failed MDC to lead the nation out of this mess is proof of the reckless-ness and inability to learn from the past that has got us into this mess in the place.

Most Zimbabweans would agree that Mugabe rigged the 2013 elections and yet only a few have taken the trouble to find out how he did so. It is not rocket science but it does require some effort on the part of the individual. How else do we expect to stop Zanu PF rigging the next elections without knowing what happened!? Offering the same failed MDC and hope for a different result is the lazy man's solution and another failure!

Tsvangirai and MDC are blind and that is a very serious shortcoming that disqualifies them from driving! They crashed the bus before already what else do they have to do finally convince this nation that they are blind! Have yet another crash!?????????

@Kuda

Zimbabwe has a population of 12 million people and I know many of them are very competent men and women with a lot to offer for the nation than any of these corrupt and incompetent individuals. The only reason why none of these competent individuals have stayed out of politics is you the electorate.

The Zimbabwe electorate does not have a clue what the country needs to progress and what to look for to separate the good leaders from the riff-raff. In a beauty contest where the judges are blind it is the beautiful contestants who will withdraw and never return and the stage will be overwhelmed with ugly ones.

If we want quality leaders to lead the nation then we must improve the quality of the voters first. An electorate that will follow like sheep bleating out meaningless and stupid slogans after clueless and incompetent leaders is not good for a healthy and functioning democracy. We want voters who understand issues and therefore can make a valid meaningful choice and will hold the elected officials to account!

"When has Mnangagwa changed the party constitution to suit his needs? Was it not the Mujurus&Gumbos who changed it in 2004 to impose Joice and in 2012 to disband DCCs?"

So you accept there was something amiss in 2004 elections but nothing wrong this time? The truth is there was something amiss on both occasions and that is why many of us have been calling for free, fair and credible elections be it within Zanu PF or at a national level because it is important for good governance.
