By recalling MDC-Renewal MPs Tsvangirai is proving to be vindictive and stupid!

Tsvangirai is proving to be Zimbabwe's worst political nightmare; his failure to implement even one reform throughout the five years of the GNU was the greatest political gift Mugabe has ever had in his corrupt and tyrannical political life. Now he is give the tyrant yet more political gifts – all the MDC Renewal seats!

If the reforms had been implemented Mugabe would have lost the 2013 elections hands down. But because no reforms were implemented Mugabe was able to use the Police, Army, ZEC, Public Media and all the other State institutions and State resources to pay millions of dollars for the vote-rigging expertise of NIVUK and UK and USA PR companies to spruce up Mugabe’s image. He went on to blatantly rig the July 2013 elections.

SADC, Westerner well-wishers and every thinking Zimbabwean begged, literally, Tsvangirai and his MDC-T friends not to take part in the 2013 elections without reforms he refused to listen. Now the penny has finally dropped, he finally accepted that that there cannot be free, fair and credible elections until ALL the democratic reforms have been implemented.

"We've stated a position, we've a congress resolution that unless we've reforms, we can't participate to legitimise an election and that's the position of the party. We can't participate unless there're reforms," Tsvangirai told reporters at the Bulawayo Press Club last night

MDC-T has failed to state that ALL the democratic reforms agreed in the GPA must be implemented. The party has called for electoral reforms, at times called for ZEC reforms and dismissal of its current chairperson Judge Makarau, at other times called for electoral laws to be aligned with the country’s new constitution, etc. The lack of clarity as to what reforms MDC-T is demanding is itself proof of confusion within the MDC-T. Of course Zanu PF will be exploiting this to once more outmanoeuvre Tsvangirai into taking part in yet another rigged elections.

Make no mistake about it Zanu PF need Tsvangirai’s MDC-T to remain Zimbabwe’s dominant opposition party. Zanu PF has lost all political credibility and public support and so, to stay in power, the party has no choice but to rig elections. Rigging elections raises the problem of legitimacy which Zanu PF has solved by getting MDC-T to participate giving the process some veneer of democratic competition. No doubt nearer the elections Zanu PF will carry out some trivial reforms, make a big song and dance about it, and get Tsvangirai to contest the elections. By the time Tsvangirai realise the elections are not free and fair it would be too late.

There two parliamentary by-elections on 27 March 2015 to fill the parliamentary seats left vacant by the promotion of Joice Mujuru and Emmerson Mnangagwa to VP positions. MDC-T is not contesting in these by-elections. There two more by-elections lined up to fill Zanu PF MPs seats left by Didymus Mutasa and his nephew who were fired from the party and recalled. MDC-T is once again saying it will boycott the by-elections until it demands on the reforms are honoured,

"Please take out the word boycott because we haven't boycotted any election,” explained Tsvangirai to his objection to the use of boycott. “But we're putting conditions that we need elections that are free and fair. We need reforms before elections are conducted, we're only prefacing that we need reforms."

He not only has a knack for making a mountain out of a mole hill but worse still he is the only adult I know who would jet his toy hunter to go hunting in the mole hill!

Tsvangirai is insisting in recalling the 21 MPs and senators who left MDC-T to form the new faction MDC-Renewal. What is mind boggling about this recall is that MDC-T will not contest in the by-elections as it is almost certain that Zanu PF will not have implemented even any token reforms.

Although MDC-Renewal too boycotted the 27 March 2015 by-elections for the same reason - demanding reforms – are almost certain to contest the by-election and try to win their seats back. If they do contest it will confirm that when push comes to shove these MDC-Renewal politicians will abandon the conditions and take part in the elections.

If Zanu PF has a clean sweep of all the by-elections without resorting to vote rigging, it would be the best thing the tyrant could have wished for. The sacking of former VP Mujuru and many of her supporters from government position has left Mugabe weak and so winning the 21 new seats will go long way to settle his jagged nerves. This would be yet another big political favour from “uncle” Tsvangirai!

By taking part in the 2013 elections against all advice not to because it was clear the elections would not be free, fair and credible; all the three MDC factions lost a lot of political credibility.  Their failure to articulate what reforms they now wanted implemented as condition for them to take part in the next elections has left everyone groaning because it is clear Zanu PF will implement trivial reforms and they will taking part in the elections once. But Tsvangirai’s latest move to recall the MDC-Renewal MPs and senators takes the biscuit.

By insisting on recalling MDC-Renewal politicians when he is not going to even try to win back the seats, shows Tsvangirai now has all his political guns trained at his erstwhile former MDC colleagues and not at the Zanu PF dictatorship. He would destroy Tendai Biti and the MDC-Renewal at all cost even when Mugabe is the chief beneficiary. If Tsvangirai goes ahead with the recall, then he would have removed any lingering doubt that he is indeed an exceptionally incompetent politician because the recall makes no sense at all. None!

We have seen this coming for years and still we failed to act and stop it. What has happened to Egypt and Syria could well happen in Zimbabwe.

All the Zanu PF politicians did not mind that Mugabe was corrupt or a tyrant as long as he gave them a share of the looted wealth. The same thing with the MDC politicians they did not see anything wrong with Tsvangirai selling out to Mugabe during the GNU as long as they too got a share of the gravy train spoils.

Most of the politicians vying for power will never change anything because all they will want to do it loot. All they are fighting for is their turn to loot! Having a naive and gullible electorate is not helping matters, they are easily conned.

Lecturers at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) have reportedly with-drawn their services with immediate effect following government's failure to pay February sala-ries.

How long does Kiya kiya Minister Chinamasa think this can go on? This is an example of how not to run one’s personal affairs much less a nation’s affairs.

I still believe that Zimbabwe is a great nation with the curse of having had a corrupt and tyranni-cal regime for the last 35 years! The regime is hoping against hope to hang on to power when the writing is on the wall that it is time for it to go.

Mugabe and Zanu PF must step down now so we can have an orderly and peaceful end to their tyrannical rule. The longer they hang on, attaching themselves to the institution of power like binnacles to a rock the more the nation will be pushed into a violent uprising to force them out of office first and foremost but is also likely to have other negative consequences as no one can predict who violent uprising end.

Mugabe and his cronies must know that they have had their chances to allow peaceful regime change and they have refused to take them. They will pay the heaviest price if the nation should be forced to use force to achieve regime change because it will not just the insignias of political power that they will lose then but that plus their looted wealth and for many of them their lives too!

The Zimbabwe economy is in total meltdown and ever since Mugabe signed the deal with the Russians in September last year, he seems to have given up on raising money for his ZimAsset plan. Mugabe needed budgetary support but has failed to get even a penny. He has accepted that ZimAsset is dead in the water and like Dante entering hell he has now abandoned all hope. "Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate", or "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.” He has since turned his whole attention to securing political power for his wife and family and damn the economic consequences of the economic meltdown.

Still the economic meltdown has reached such a critical stage, it is naïve for anyone to think the people will continue to see their very humanity and human dignity and even their very lives taken away without protesting. Today’s University campus protests should open Mugabe and his cronies’ eyes so that they read for themselves what is written everywhere in Zimbabwe – Regime change is certain!

The Chinese and Russians have been very smart and quick to exploit Mugabe's quarrel with the West for their own selfish gain. The have played along with Mugabe's anti-west rhetoric whilst securing for them-selves very lucrative deals. The Chinese and Russians are right now the chief beneficiaries of the looting and plunder going on in Marange.

They are mining the diamonds 24/7 and exporting all the germs as fast as they can and without paying a penny in tax in Zimbabwe. They pay Mugabe, the Army or whoever happened to be their local partner a little something under the table (because they do not want to pay tax too) which will no doubt be a tiny fraction of the true value of the mined diamonds. The find was valued at $ 800 billion and the two nations will end up with the lion's share of the diamonds and Zimbabwe will have nothing to show for it!

People like Simon Muzenda and Joice Mujuru are yes-men because their are incapable of thinking for themselves but because of Mugabe's autocratic disposition and intolerance to any descend and opposing point of view even people like Simba Makoni became yes-men! This is way all Zanu PF members must now be written off as potential leaders who can get us out of this mess.

By becoming yes-men people like Makoni showed that they are not man of substance regardless of their own mental agility. If you cannot think for yourself when the situation demands that you must, then what good are you to the nation as a thinker?

Tsvangirai and his MDC friends failed to get even one democratic reform implemented and there are only two reasons why they did not: they are corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent. They least they should have done was to, at least, apologize to the nation and donors for their very serious and unforgivable shortcomings. They have added insult to injury by refusing to do so.

Whilst MDC can get away without apologizing to the party’s supporters who do not have a clue what the reforms were about anyway they cannot expect the donors to accept to being treated so contemptuously!

Tsvangirai will come back with the begging bowl empty because not only is he corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent but an non repentant one at that!

This Zanu PF regime has forgotten that it is in power to serve the nation not the insatiable appetites of the ruling elite! The nation's greatest and most urgent need right now is that something be done to end the economic meltdown. Mugabe and Zanu PF have clearly run out of ideas as to what to do.

The people have the right to seek some other regime who can do something about the economic meltdown. Mugabe and Zanu PF have to accept that their failure to end the economic meltdowns means per se that they have failed to serve the nation and they must step down. Mugabe's autocratic notion that he has the right to stay in power regardless of his ability to serve the people is the one the nation is rejecting and that is not negotiable!
