Tsvangirai shocked at Dzamara abduction, he thought "country had moved on" - not without reforms!

“The callous abduction of Itai Dzamara has come as a complete shock to me, to the MDC and to Zimbabweans at large,” said Tsvangirai.

Yes the abduction of Itai Dzamara was callous and must be condemned by all freedom loving Zimbabweans.

Still no thinking Zimbabweans out there would be shocked because this has been happening for decades. This Mugabe regime contempt for the freedom, liberty and basic human rights of Zimbabweans including the rights to freedom of expression, right to a meaningful vote and even the right to life can be traced back to the madness of Gukurahundi days. How can the nation be shocked today as if this is not the political “norm” in Mugabe’s tyrannical Zimbabwe.

We had countless chances to end this Zanu PF dictatorship during the GNU when all Tsvangirai and his MDC friend had to do was implement the reforms. They had the majority in parliament, the backing of SADC and five years to do it. They failed to get even one reform implemented. Not one!
“Tonderai Ndira, Tichaona Chiminya, Beta Chokururama and many others have been abducted and in most cases found murdered,” continued Tsvangirai naming some of his own MDC supporters who have been murdered by the regime.
“In 2008, many MDC activists were maimed, raped or murdered and seven years later, no single arrest has been made in connection with the crimes.
“Today, in an almost similar script, Dzamara is abducted in broad daylight and that is why we fear for the worst.
“We thought this country had moved on and was past these barbaric and shameful acts.”

This is why it is impossible not to be angry with Tsvangirai’s infuriating naivety and incompetence. He wasted the many chances to dismantle the Zanu PF dictatorship and yet he still expected the country to have move on regardless his failure to implement even one reform.

If Zimbabweans are serious about ending the political abductions, murders, vote rigging, rampant corruption, gross mismanagement, etc., etc. behind the political decadence and economic rot in the country then we must revisit the 2008 democratic reforms and get them ALL implemented. Nothing of any substance will ever change in Zimbabwe until all the reforms are implemented.

Tsvangirai is harping on the worsening economic situation and demanding an end to political repression for one reason and one reason only – to force Mugabe to yet another GNU and gravy train seats for him and his MDC friends. Tsvangirai will never get any reform implemented; if he failed to do so during the first GNU when he had all the trump cards it is naïve to think he will do so now when it is Mugabe who has all the trump cards.
