(Mis)Information Moyo lied about Mugabe fall now he is lying about tyrant did not threaten judge!

Minister of Information (read Misinformation and Propaganda) Professor Jonathan Moyo is a very clever and cunning man with the gift of the gab and that is why Mugabe has appointed him his chief propagandist. Even after the Professor was named as the organiser behind the now in Tsholotsho coup plot to force Mugabe out of power, the tyrant had no choice but to take him back.

Mai Mujuru, Rugare Gumbo, Didymus Mutasa and all the other Zanu PF bigwigs dumped out of the party recently have all been thrown on the rubbish dump with no chance of recall because they have very little to offer the tyrant. They have been in the party for the numbers but they are easily replaceable.

Professor Moyo, on the other hand, is the Zimbabwe’s answer to Nazi German’s Josef Goebbels such a talented propagandist with a matching icy ruthlessness they would sell their own mother for a price and be proud they had a mother to sell is not found in every dynasty! Mugabe was lost after he dumped Moyo following the Tsholotsho debacle but took him back as soon as he got the chance to do so.

Recent events have tested even the experienced propagandist Professor to the limit. When Mugabe, whose byword is “fit as a fiddle” stumbled and fell at the airport a few weeks ago Professor Moyo and his army of assistance went into overdrive to “prove” that although everyone can see photos of Mugabe flying in the air and then landing on all four, the tyrant did not “actually fall, he broke the fall”! The emphasis is on the operative word broke!

Of course no one was fooled. Indeed the nation laughed at the pretentious Mugabe even louder because of the equally pathetic attempt to misinform and rewrite the whole language to deceive.

Our Josef Goebbels has been at it again, this time he is twisting and contorting the language so that Mugabe’s threat to “question their educational qualifications” of the magistrate who dares to hear Mutasa’s court challenge of the legality of Zanu PF’s 2014 party congress is seen as an innocent statement and not the naked and blatant threat it is.

“President Mugabe said it would be a case of interference in Zanu PF internal matters that are not legal but are ideological and political should the courts entertain Mutasa’s matter,” explained Moyo.

“This is because the legal import of all that President Mugabe said last Friday is that as a litigant in the matter and in terms of the law, the courts have no jurisdiction to determine a case involving Zanu PF as a private voluntary organisation in which the complainants, Mutasa and Gumbo, who were members of the party before their expulsion, neither sought nor exhausted all the domestic remedies available to them at the material time.”

What a load of bull!

Moyo acknowledges that the two were expelled from the party and it is the expulsion without following even the party’s own due process that Mutasa and Gumbo are complaining about. So what is the Professor wittering about, the two “neither sought nor exhausted all the domestic remedies available to them”?

The right to due legal process is a constitution right of every Zimbabwe citizen and when that right is deny the aggrieved party has a right to ask the Courts to seek redress regardless of whether the aggressor is an individual, a public or private organisation. Even Zanu PF cannot willy-nilly choose to put itself above the country’s legal system by the simple act of declaring legal matter “not legal but are ideological and political”!

Didymus Mutasa and Rugare Gumbo have rightly lodged their case with the Court; it is up to Mugabe and the other named respondents to lodge their counter arguments with the same Court. It will then be for the judge to decide on the merits or otherwise of the two submissions before him/her.

That someone, anyone at all, should be questioning the “educational qualifications” or anything else of the judge doing his/her duty is tantamount to contempt of Court. When that someone happens to be someone in a position of power and authority to make life very difficult for the judge then the crime is much more than contempt of Court, it is treason.

Even Professor Moyo, the chief of propagandist, with all his talent at of twisting words so that wrong looks right cannot change Mugabe’s threats against the judge into anything else other than what it is – a blatant threat.

It is no secret that Zimbabwe is in this mess because for decades now there has been no rule of law, it is the whim of one man, Mugabe, that has become the supreme law of the land. Mutasa’s Court case is not just a challenge of the legality of Mugabe’s disregard of the party’s constitution but of his disregard of the national laws too. So the nation awaits with a baited breath to see whether the judge will carry out a proper evaluation of the Mutasa case with the heighten diligence the matter demands given its national ramifications or will he gloss over the case because he has been cowed by Mugabe’s threat!
