Eddie Cross 80 000 Gukurahundi story a distraction the nation can do without!

The Zimbabwe Social Democrats condemn in the strongest terms the growing trend by MDC leaders who have already proven to be incompetent and therefore irrelevant to the nation to revive their political ambitious by opening up old political wounds but with no intention of helping the would heal!

OPPOSTION MDC-T legislator, Eddie Cross, has claimed that the 1980’s government-sponsored Gukurahundi pogroms could have killed up to 80,000 people with probably five times that number displaced and driven into exile,” said a New Zimbabwe report.

We question the end and purpose of bringing up this subject now? Mr Cross has been MP since 2000 and he was at the very heart of government during the GNU years and he never once brought up this matter.

Zimbabwe is facing a tough and immediate challenge of ending this Mugabe and Zanu PF dictatorship as quickly and peacefully as possible. The danger of Mugabe hanging on to power and dragging this nation into the chaos and madness that has fallen other nations like Egypt and Syria is real and with each passing day the tyrant remains in office more and more windows of opportunity for a quick and peaceful resolution are slammed shut.

If Mr Cross and his MDC friends had not been so corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent and had implemented the democratic reforms during their five years in the GNU then the nation would have been spare this problem of how to remove this Mugabe regime from office. Mugabe was able to blatantly rig the July 2013 because MDC had failed to implement the reforms!

Last week Elton Mangoma was talking of helping victims of Gukurahundi get death certificates and today Eddie Cross is coming up with new revised numbers of Gukurahundi victims designed to shock. These breathtakingly incompetent MDC leaders are opening up these old wounds to bolster their tarnished political careers. They are breathtakingly incompetent and they have proven that beyond all doubt and they are doing so again here by opening old wounds when they do not have meanings to dress the them much less the expertise to remove the lodged shrapnel.

Gukurahundi is but one of the many evil things this Mugabe dictatorship has inflicted on the nation over the years; there is the looting, political murders of 2008, the vote rigging of last year, etc. None of these problems will ever be meaningful address as long as Mugabe and Zanu PF remain in power.

It was infinitely easier for MDC to have implemented the democratic reforms during the NGU than to do so now. Bringing up issues like Gukurahundi will only serve to draw the attention away from the important task of getting Mugabe and Zanu PF to step down.

We need to focus on the task on hand and not waste time on issues whose resolution is totally dependent on us getting Mugabe out of office. With all the best will in the world nothing much will  ever be accomplished whilst Mugabe and Zanu PF remain in power; let us expend our energy on what is in our power to deliver here and now and not waste it what will remind a pipe dream because we failed to get out priorities right!

This nation has already wasted its golden opportunity to end this Mugabe dictatorship because MDC leaders like Eddie Cross took their eyes off the ball. We cannot afford to waste this next chance because the same breathtakingly incompetent MDC leaders are once again going off at another tangent!

@ Pius Wakatama

"The MDC leader won 47% of the ballot against 43% for Mugabe, forcing the inconclusive and violent run-off. Makoni won 8,3% of the vote, which, if added to Tsvangirai's vote, would have given both of them an uncontestable victory to form a formidable government," you said.

Mugabe lost the 2008 elections and it took him five weeks to cook the results to come up with the above. There will be a thorough investigation into the 2008 elections and I can assure you that history will show that Mugabe rigged the elections.

Although Simba Makoni was not in the GNU; still one expected him to have been smart enough to have seen the importance of implementing the democratic reforms. He clearly did not and he is one of the country’s opposition leaders who endorsed the Copac constitution showing that he is no different from the incompetent Tsvangirai and the other MDC leaders.

Of course Zimbabwe’s opposition has already proven to be incompetent and therefore totally “irrelevant” as you have rightly said. The problem is not so much the opposition but the electorate that not only elected an incompetent opposition in the first place but are not smart enough to admit they made a mistake and learn from it. Zimbabweans still expect the likes of Tsvangirai and Makoni to solve the nation’s political and economic mess regardless of how incompetent and irrelevant they have already proven to be!

It was not for the 21-gun salute and the fly-past that Mugabe hoping to get from China but for a significant amount of the $27 billion required for the ZimAsset. Of course, the Chinese were well aware of Zimbabwe’s worsening economic meltdown and hence Mugabe’s desperate financial needs; God knows Mugabe has nagged them often enough since the July 2013 elections which saw Mugabe once again back in power. The Chinese decided grant Mugabe the 21 gun salute and smother him with praise to sweeten the bitter pill they gave him – they were not going to give him any money.

The Zanu PF crowd that turned up at Harare International Airport to welcome Mugabe back from China was no doubt meant to bolster Mugabe’s spirits after the disappointing trip to China.

With still not a dollar in the Zimasset begging bowl there is only one way for the economy to go – down.

There is a final-curtain-call feel about everything about Mugabe and everything he is doing. His has been a life of deceit and failure and instead of accepting that reality and riding quietly into the sunset he wants the grand exist with all the pomp and acclaim. He wanted $27 billion and got 21 gun salute instead, but it is his rather pathetic attempt to sell the economic meltdown as an economic recovery that is exposing him for the phony he is. Well the final curtain is coming down and there will be regime change whether Mugabe likes it or not!

@ Obert Gutu

The trouble with incompetent leaders like Obert Gutu who have already proven beyond all doubt just how incompetent they are is that they are now desperate to remain relevant and hence come up with all manner of nonsense.

"The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has undergone structural and organisational renewal," Mr Gutu tells the nation for example. He does not say how ZEC will achieve this transformation. Mugabe and Zanu PF have worked hard to ensure Mr Gutu and his fellow MDC friends did implement any of the reforms including the reforms necessary to transform ZEC.

Mugabe paid Gutu and his fellow MDC a lot in bribes to keep them quiet and do nothing about the reforms throughout the GNU years and having secured for himself and Zanu PF a big advantage he is not stupid enough to give that up just because it is 2018!

Mr Gutu was one of the MDC leaders who wittering went into over drive insisting that the Copac constitution would deliver free, fair and credible elections and that the nation should approve it in the 16 March 2013 referendum. The nation did approve the weak and feeble constitution by a staggering 95%. Four months later the nation learnt too late that they should have never believed lying and breathtakingly incompetent people like Gutu; the elections were not free, fair and credible!

The Zimbabwe electorate has one big fundamental weakness most of the people are naive and gullible and incompetent politicians like Gutu are out to exploit this weakness. "Welcome to 2018! Welcome to a New Zimbabwe! The country will never be the same again," Mr Gutu is promising the nation. He could have delivered the free elections in 2013 but failed because he is breathtakingly incompetent; now he is promising something he is not in any position to deliver just to take advantage of the gullible Zimbabweans who cannot see the difference!

Gutu, Biti, Tsvangirai are distraction the nation can do without but, unfortunately, can do little to shut them up. The only way to do so is to by ensuring the people themselves are smart enough not to be taken for a ride again by these idiots! Easier said than done, I admit!

@ Mambo

I agree it is the wish of every right thinking Zimbabwean to end this Zanu PF dictatorship but any right thinking Zimbabwean must also realise that people like Obert Gutu will never deliver the democratic changes necessary.

It is not all who cry "Lord! Lord!" who enter the kingdom of God!

It is going to take more than wishing to live in a free, democratic and prosperous Zimbabwe for us to achieve that. If there is anything we should have learnt after 34 years of this Zanu PF dictatorship especial after the let-down of the GNU years it surely must be that we will have to be a lot smarter than we have been if we are ever going to enjoy the freedom, liberty and economic prosperity we have dreamt of all these years!

Even if China had given Mugabe all the $27 billion cash he asked for in the ZimAsset programme it would not have been enough to deliver the economic recovery; not when nothing has been done about the criminal waste of human and material resources through mismanagement and corruption and the lawlessness continues scarring away the investors. It is not just the cash for ZimAsset that is at issue here when it comes to Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown this is why this Zanu PF must go if there is to be any economic recovery.

Our Takunda Chingonzoh is clearly a very confident young man; confident of what he wants to do in life and confident of the future; that is great. Sadly like President Mugabe of whom Takunda clearly holds in high regard, our zeolite has neither common sense nor humility!

Takunda has done very well if reports of his successfully starting his own company are true but he cannot be that blind or stupid not to have noticed that 90% of young men and women in Zimbabwe are unemployed. In other words Takunda is just one of the very lucky few Zimbabweans confident about the future. Anyone with any common sense would be question why many fellow Zimbabweans should be condemned to such a life of grinding poverty and despair. There is no way all these young men and women would choose to live with a political system that has denied them in the future; so the question then is why have Zimbabweans lived for 34 years with a regime that has denied them hope?

President Obama explained to our upstart how the Mugabe regime has remained in power all these years by denying Zimbabweans their basic rights including the right to a meaningful vote. The US imposed the targeted sanction against Mugabe and his inner circle in protest against these contemptuous human rights violations. It is clear President Obama wasted his time talking to a brick wall!

"I believe that when you discuss issues to do with Africans you need all Africans present and when you discuss issues to do with the youth, you want to include all the youth," Takura maintains.

The US-Africa summit was a resounding success precisely because the Americans took the trouble to exclude tyrants like Mugabe whose presence would have been a distraction at the very best.

@ Max du Preez
There is no need for you to apologise, Mugabe is a corrupt, neurotic and murderous tyrant it has taken many Zimbabweans 15 years at least to see and admit that. Those of us who saw this earlier risked life and limb calling Mugabe a dictator!

Zimbabwe should have confined Mugabe to the annals of history as far back as 2000 were it not for the breath-taking incompetence of the country’s main opposition led by Morgan Tsvangirai. If the MDC had implemented the democratic reforms Mugabe would not still be in power. Many Zimbabweans still refuse to see Tsvangirai and his MDC friends for the breathtakingly incompetent village idiots they are. I hope you are not going to apologise again over that one too!

Once upon a time everyone believed that the moon, the sun and the whole universe revolved around earth and the few who dare say otherwise were threatened with all manner of punishments. Still that did not change the reality out there! Africa whole not be in such a mess if a few people like you, proud to call themselves Africans, are prouder still to speak some home truths and not let it be swept under the carpet!

I am a Zimbabwean and proud of it but will be proud to see Mugabe and his cronies brought before a court of law to account for the innocent blood of the over 30 000 on their hands. I am ashamed that so many innocent Zimbabweans were murdered and most people treat this as water off a duck back! It is this cold indifference to what Mugabe has done that allows these Africans to still consider Mugabe not as murderous tyrant he is but a hero.

@ Sammy Moyo
Hold your horses, if MDC had been so smart why did they not implement the reforms and thus stop Mugabe rigging the elections?

The economic meltdown is going to force Mugabe and Zanu PF to step down but this is not going to be cheap. Think of the economic hardships the nation is going through right now and climbing out of this hell-hole is not going to be a walk in the park either. The nation would have been spared this suffering if those MDC idiots had implemented the reforms!

@ Rovambira
The failure by many Zimbabweans to see Tsvangirai and his MDC friends for the breathtakingly incompetent individuals they are is one of the things holding back Zimbabwe. The sooner these blind MDC supporters open their eyes to the reality of Tsvangirai and company's incompetence the sooner the nation can start the difficult task of searching for competent leaders!

A naive and gullible electorate is bound to elect incompetent leaders again and again, guaranteed!

@ PG Madziwa
Your give credit to Tsvangirai than he deserves, if Mugabe was able to bamboozle the village idiot into doing nothing about the reforms what makes you think he was persuasive enough to talk the West into imposing sanctions in the first place but failed to get them lifted later!

So you will never allow Tsvangirai to rule because he invited sanctions although there is no evi-dence that he did but will accept Mugabe to rule although he has the blood of over 30 000 innocent Zimbabweans on his hands.

You are clearly a confused idiot! The fact that your hands are red with innocent blood has not escaped me. Well you will account for that blood my friend; the day of reckoning is upon us!

All these Zanu PF idiots are like hyenas fighting over what they think is a carcass only to find it has been picked clean by blue bomber nuggets and the empty shell is now home to stinging hornet wasps who will not tolerate unwelcome guests sticking their nose in their home!

What is really surprising here is that these ZANU PF leaders are totally oblivious of the economic meltdown happening before their own eyes! It goes to show just how naïve and out of touch these idiots really are. The sooner the nation can force Mugabe and his whole cabal to step down and fcuk off, the sooner the nation can turn to the important business of rebuilding the nation.

@datbrother
Ambassador Chris Dell then you should also admit that he did not think much of Tsvangirai as a leader. He "is a flawed and indecisive character" the Ambassador said of Tsvangirai. So do you really think a country like the US would base its foreign policy on someone like that?

Are you saying Mugabe is not a murderous tyrant? Any Zimbabwean who is indifferent to the cold blooded murder of so many fellow Zimbabweans is an idiot. What else would you call that person!?

The tragic is that Mangoma, Biti and the rest of the MDC leaders had the chance to implement the various reforms which would have made political violence a thing of the past. As it is the threat of wanton violence still hangs over the nation like the sword of Damocles.

Mugabe and Zanu PF have destroyed the individual's ability to do anything to improve their situation; all power and control of facade of our lives was to be in the hands of the party. This is why the party has insisted in controlling even donors who giving out aid to the people. Everyone is supposed to feel beholden to the party for everything even on to life itself. We all know how many Zimbabweans have lost their lives at the hands of Zanu PF.

It seems MDC have learnt from Mugabe; they do nothing that will empower the people in the real sense of the word but are only too keen to do things that will make them beholden to the party.

@ Josepher
A cabinet of equal will have a meaningful debate of issues and they are more likely to come up with a well thought out position. In a Zanu PF cabinet everyone will only be too keen to agree with whatever Mugabe says and not dare contradict him and it is not surprising that the regime has implemented some really stupid policies.

Mugabe’s domineering style of leaders becomes a self-fulfilling in that he goes out of his way to surround himself with individuals like Muzenda and Mujuru of very little intellect and therefore can easily dominate and lord over. People like Muzenda and Mujuru already lacking in self- confidence will obvious withdraw even more working under someone who loves putting them down at every opportunity. So you end up with the guy at the top who considers himself infallible and views and treats those below him as hopeless nincompoops – crap. Those below look up to the leader and all they see is not a genius but an a***hole crapping all over them.

The system is then replicated throughout society from ministerial level right up to village and individual home level where everyone too want to be the one sitting on the top perch crapping all over those below. There is a lot of crap to go round but the real tragedy is the whole nation suffers; we are sinking in a suss pool of our own making!
