PDP call for "broad coalition" to defeat Zanu PF - MDC lost 2013 not for want of "broad coalition". By Wilbert Mukori

“While the People's Democratic Party (PDP) respects the right of every citizen to form a political party and or join any of their choice, the party is also cognizant of what is required for Zimbabwe to move forward. In this light, the party has been at the fore of calling for the opposition to come together under a broad coalition for the development of the nation and against the ZANU PF dictatorship,” wrote Moses Manyangavana, PDP Youth President.

Was it the lack of “a broad coalition for the development of the nation” that stopped MDC getting even one democratic reform implemented during the five years of GNU or was it something else? You clearly need a history lesson!

Moses, Mugabe and Zanu PF were able to blatantly rig the 2013 elections and thus get back into power because Morgan Tsvangirai, PDP president Tendai Biti and the other MDC leader s failed to implement even one democratic reform necessary to stop Mugabe rigging the elections. They had five years to implement the reforms and SADC Heads tried their best to get MDC to implement the reforms but they were ignored.

MDC failed to implement even one reform because they are corrupt, incompetent and they sold-out to Mugabe.

If you or anyone is serious about ending this Zanu PF dictatorship then he or she must implement the reforms. The answer during the GNU to ending Zanu PF dictatorship was to implement the reforms; it is still the only answer to this day. So the only useful coalition, there was to be one, must be one united for the one common purpose of implementing the reforms, to unite over  anything else is a waste of time.

PDP, MDC-T and MDC (Ncube) you are still in denial over your role in getting the nation into this political and economic mess, you still refuse to admit you betrayed the nation in failing to implement the reforms during the GNU. But, worst of all, by telling the people the lie that implementing the wishy-washy electoral law will deliver the desired free and fair elections you have made yourself an enemy of the nation. You know the electoral law reforms will change nothing; you are just selling-out the people again as you did during the GNU.

“As PDP we also want to take this opportunity to welcome comrades who split from ZANU PF and have since joined the opposition ranks and we urge them to work a show the entire country that indeed an organic split has occurred in ZANU PF,” continued Moses.

You know very well that the fight between Joice Mujuru and her PF and Mugabe and his cabal is not an ideological one but over who should inherit the dictatorship. PF has been very careful to avoid commenting on the GPA democratic reforms and why not even one reform was implemented because they are fighting Mugabe for control of the dictators and at no time would they want the dictatorship dismantled.

So if by “organic split” PDP think Mujuru and others want free, fair and credible elections and will implement the democratic reforms then you are very naïve, green horn.

There is no doubt that PDP members are so disparate to get back into power they will form a coalition with anybody or party ever one that is Zanu PF in all but name which is what PF is.

The people of Zimbabwe have waited for 36 years now for free, fair and credible elections and they also know this is the foundation for good and stable government. PF are offering to end Mugabe’s rule but not to end the dictatorship. PF are doing nothing to ensure the next elections are free and fair and, should they win the elections, they will do everything in their power to ensure no democratic reforms are implemented. The people of Zimbabwe will have to wait another generation or more for free, fair and credible elections.

No freedom loving Zimbabweans would ever want to work with PDP as long as continues on its set path of lying to the people that they will have free, fair and credible elections. MDC sold-out the people during the GNU, is history going to repeat itself?

@ Gutu

Tsvangirai's understanding of a free media was to request that the public media must stop calling him a puppet which they did for a few weeks. Throughout the GNU ZBC radio or TV never interviewed Tsvangirai and the village idiot considered that normal!

We started with people who clearly did not have a clue what a free media and freedom of expression were all about and it is no wonder that we got nothing at the end of the day. The GNU accomplished nothing thanks to MDC's incompetent and corrupt leaders!

Gwanda a town of 60 000 has had no running water for 5 days and many are using the bush as toilets.

Who would have thought it possible in this day and age that a whole town would smell of human excrement! This is basic hygiene but we clearly slipping into the dark ages!
