Mugabe does not care about the people, they knew, hence the need to rig the election; his new cabinet care even less!

Mugabe does not give a damn about the suffering masses and he has now appointed equally hard-nosed Zanu PF loyalists who too do not give a damn about the people. Frankly, who in Zanu PF gives a damn about the people; it is a party of ruthless thugs!

By rigging the elections Mugabe and Zanu PF imposed themselves on the people of Zimbabwe. Mugabe knows he and his party have nothing to offer the people of Zimbabwe and, frankly, they gave up trying years ago.

Mugabe has known that he can either save himself and his cronies and ditch the people or serve the people and have democracy, free elections, etc. and by now the people would have ditched him too. He decided to ditch the people and the party has now devised a better way of staying in power without beating, raping or murdering as many people as in 2008. He will be working on refining the system.

This new cabinet's main task is to consolidate Zanu PF's hold on power by undermining all attempt to restore the people's democratic voice in who rules in Zimbabwe. The party had clearly made a big mistake in 2008 in allowing the people some modicum of free vote, that must not be allowed to happen ever again!

The people of Zimbabwe hate Mugabe and Zanu PF with a passion. Mugabe and his Zanu PF thugs know that and since they have no intention of giving the people a free vote, not ever, he does not care about the people either. Tit for tat!

Mugabe has appointed a cabinet that understand what Zanu PF has to do to survive and none of the members in this cabinet have any delusion about democracy, human rights, alleviating the suffering masses or any of that nonsense. These are all hard-nosed selfish tyrants in their own right who would sell their own mother for a piece of calico cloth and a handful of shiny beads and be proud they had a mother to sell!

Those who are talking about how this new cabinet would help revive the national economic; this is academic self-indulgence. They know Mugabe is not going to revive the economy but have to keep the pretense that he might surprise us all! At the end of the five years they will go through the motion of marking the regime's performance and then award it an F! Any five years wasted waiting to be told what we have known all along!

@ Salf

You have it right about the futility of it all!

That is not going to stop the usual suspects giving us a detailed analysis of strengths and weakness of this cabinet and how they will deliver the much hoped for economic recovery. We all know Mugabe does not give a damn about the suffering masses and the economic recovery. He knows the people know that which is why he rigged the elections.

Still the self-indulgent academic and good-for nothing political analysts will be giving us a blow by blow account of how the economic recovery can still be achieved. After the five years they will turn round and give the regime an F which we have known all along! All the suffering the nation would have had to endure it would have been all for nothing!

@ Hungwe

You are right there; the next five years are going to be hell. Millions of Zimbabweans are going to suffer and hundreds of thousands will be crippled for life. And what will the nation get for all that - confirmation of some thing we already know, that Mugabe and Zanu PF are corrupt!

@ Tamborenyoka

Whilst it is true that Mugabe and his new cabinet are a waste of space but one has to question Tamborenyoka's competency in calling the new cabinet a joke. He never called MDC's buffoons who landed us in this mess a joke!

The nation has a big headache now and the last thing we want is MDC idiots saying their usual nonsense. MDC should just shut up!

@ Historian

I know many Zimbabweans have really struggle to get their heads round this issue of reforms. Some believe having a none partisan Police, for example, is something that was just going to happen; they could never say how because they are incapable of such thought processes.

Other believed it was going to happen because the new Copac called for it. Explaining to them that rubbish was too weak and feeble to do that proved to be a waste of time. They ability to think was severely limited in terms of processing power and battery power. Whereas other nations like the US, Japan, etc. have an average IQ of 100 plus, Zimbabwe’s average is 68. If the nation drops another few more points, then we will be a nation of lunatics.

If anyone cannot get his or her round why implementing the reforms is the key to restoring democracy and good governance in Zimbabwe, now with hindsight; then their IQ is simply too low for them to ever understand anything. Sadly; there hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Zimbabweans who are mentally incapable of seeing reason. And since people have a vote, the nation is doomed!

@ Khera

I see, the economic melt down, the 90% unemployment, collapse education and health service, etc., etc. are all part and parcel of this "transiting" is it? How anyone could be this naïve is the greatest mystery of our generation? I am not blaming you; you are what you are - in this case breathtakingly naïve. The mystery is how so much of your brain tissue could have turned into fat in a human-life time. And it is not just you, there hundreds of thousands of Zimbabweans just as naïve and stupid as you. Was it the Zanu PF propaganda, the polluted water, seating in the dark night after night because of the all too frequent power cuts? What is it? What?

All Zanu PF elected in the last elections know the elections were rigged, they must have known about it and they certainly saw the voters bussed from one Polling Station to the next. None of them were ever under an illusions that they would win a free, fair and credible election. So other than the bussed voters, who have been paid their thirty pieces of silver already - at least the cleverer one; Mugabe, his Zanu PF cabinet and MPs owe nothing to millions of ordinary Zimbabweans out there. As far as the tyrant is concerned, it is pay back time.

In the 1980s Mugabe and Zanu PF had the support of many Zimbabweans and the party tried to bring mass prosperity, "gutsa ruzhinji" as promised. Well greed got the better of them. The party has since lost the support of the masses and so the corruption and looting has gone into overdrive. They are in power because they are cunning and ruthless and tough luck to the suffering masses!

Mugabe brought back Jonathan Moyo because he is not only clever but he has shown that he would sell his own mother for a piece of calico cloth and boast he had a mother to sell.

Mugabe knows the country's media house have never saved Zanu PF's selfish interests more faithfully and blindly than the years Moyo was boss. Mugabe needs all that back now more than ever.

He plan is to claw back even the little freedom of expression Zimbabweans have gleaned over the years.

Mugabe has answered back those who have been hoping against hope for media reforms; there will be none. It is not for his looks people have called Moyo "the hangman of the free media" .

Mugabe hates Moyo but is shrewd enough to know he needs him to consolidate his de facto one-party dictatorship, especially after the last ten years of chaos. "Magnanimity" has nothing to do with it!

@ James Bond

Well when it comes to rigging elections, you do it but pretend you would do not such thing!

What is surprising is how even people like Tsvangirai could have been so naïve not to have seen this coming and even when it was blatantly obvious what was happening - still the idiot would not believe his own eyes!

@ Jukwa

Is that the reason why Mugabe rigged the elections and has yet to hold free and fair elections in 33 years!?

You ability to dwell on nonsense day after day after day is worrying. You are not just another Mugabe spin-doctor paid to say nonsense; you have repeated it so often now you now believe in it. You are brainwashing yourself!

If you do not stop saying all this nonsense you will turn into a moron.

@ Chimbwido

Zimbabwe is a "multi-party democracy"? How can that be possible when Zanu PF has murdered over 30 000 innocent Zimbabweans who only "crime" was that they had dared to oppose the tyrannical regime.

Zimbabweans are sick and tired of being treated as if they are idiots who cannot even see when they are being short changed. They were slow at seeing Mugabe for the ruthless tyrant he is; but, trust me, the penny has finally dropped. Mugabe thought they would accept the vote rigging as happened so often in the past. The people have not forgotten the vote rigging and they are not going to forget!

It is clear the demands for meaningful democratic reforms are very much on the nation's mind and thus on the national agenda. Change, real change is as certain as the sun rising tomorrow; there is nothing Mugabe or your lying can do to stop the dawn of a free and democratic Zimbabwe. Nothing!

“As far as they (MDC) are concerned the elections were rigged,” says Mugabe. This ty-rant lives in his own world!

When there was report after report of voters being bussed in from far-away places to vote in places they clearly looked total lost, the whole world saw that for themselves; when 25% of voters are not allowed to vote and yet 27 constituencies have 70% plus voter turnout and one, Chipinge East, even had 141%; etc. There can only be one ex-planation for this; this is blatant vote rigging. It is not a matter of what MDC is saying, the whole world KNOWS the elections were rigged!

As for Mugabe allocating any cabinet seats to MDC; one has to ask to what end and pur-pose? In the GNU the two MDC factions had even more cabinet seats than Zanu PF; and yet MDC accomplished nothing. So what difference would having a few token MDC mem-bers in this cabinet have been!

Mugabe can go through the motions being sworn in himself, appointing the new cabinet, swearing them in and so forth as if he and Zanu PF have the people of Zimbabwe’s man-date to rule. He and his Zanu PF thugs know as well as everyone else that they rigged the elections and therefore will never be considered as the legitimate government of Zimbabwe!
